NCAA Football 2008 goes deeper, faster and stronger with improved graphics, animation and game play. No longer are you locked into animations that will carry you out of bounds or into the waiting arms of a defensive lineman, change your actions on the fly to juke and spin your way to daylight. On the defensive side, the new Hit Stick feature lets you tackle the ball carrier either high or low. If you can't knock him down, the new gang-tackle mechanism will have other linebackers moving in to make the tackle. However, make sure your timing is accurate or the running back will leap over you as you land on the turf. Along with gang tackling and the hit stick, other Madden features have been imported, including lead blocking, and defensive playmaker controls.

Dynasty mode puts you in total control of the team as you try to build a winning program. Pitch the various aspects of your program to the recruits in order to bring them on – then train your team to perform their best upon the field. Build your own star player in Campus Legend. Play through the High School senior state championship finals. Based on your player's performance, various schools will recruit you. Improve your player's skills during practice and you can go from third string to starting player. The new motivation system will boost your player's attributes – and even the performances of those around you. When your player has completed his college career you can export him to Madden NFL 08.

3 out of 5 eggsSame old football game

Pros: Dynasty is very promising. Gameplay has been moderately improved over previous titles. Graphics have been fairly enhanced.

Cons: These sports games are not bringing anything to the table if you want my opinion. They all have the same bugs, same mechanics, and same styles. No new ideas are being implemented.

Other Thoughts: Good game to burn some time. If you are into football the by all means buy it. Don't expect anything fantastic.

4 out of 5 eggsMissing the small things

Pros: Campus legend mode, recruiting system, and overall gameplay are great!

Cons: Can't play as smaller schools and can't create teams. Have no option but to watch replays if you get more than a second into them.

Other Thoughts: Would like more strategy in the dynasty mode (ie. you have to start at a small school and work your way up to jobs with bigger schools based on performance). Also, winning a bowl is very anti-climactic. What happened to the days where you would get cut scenes of your players celebrating the national championship win? Why not show your players rush the field when they win Paul Bunyan's Axe? Winning a bowl or rivalry feels no different than winning any other game. Weekly top game video recaps (ESPN Gameday wrapup?) would be a cool addition as well.

5 out of 5 eggsGoood

Pros: New Campus Legend mode is very good, espcially with the addition of a high school playoffs. Graphics have been improved, and the jump up to 60 frames per second is a vast improvement to last years version. Dynasty is the same ol thing, but its a great forumla.

Cons: Commentary....they are good commentators but i've been hearing the same thing for the last 4 versions of this game

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome game, great new features

Pros: New gameplay features like how the game will automatically save replays of select plays. Legend mode is SWEET. You start off by playing for your high school team in the state playoffs, you even get to name your school and choose your team colors, and go through the playoffs and then pick a school to go to, based on how well you do in the state playoffs is what string you'll be in college. Like past NCAA football games, you can import graduating classes into Madden 08.

Cons: Online gameplay hasn't improved, same old East Coast and West Coast lobbies. Unlike the older NCAA Football games, you can't choose smaller teams like William and Mary, Harvard, ect. Also unlike older versions, you can't create teams.

Other Thoughts: Only college football video game out, and a lot of great new features. A lot of people will like this game. If you don't like actually playing football, you can play Dynasty, which is more strategy based.

4 out of 5 eggsMajor Improvement

Pros: NCAA Football 08 is a VAST improvement over 07 on next generation platforms. All the hype is true. The defensive AI is better, the running game is completely restructured for the better, and so on. The graphics are great, not amazing, but great. Campus Legend mode is terrific, much better than it used to be on current gen. The new Dynasty recruiting features are good... although they are admittedly a little overwhelming on your first season. The game runs very smooth at 60 fps.

Cons: Same old Corso and Herbstreit commentary...ugh. They could do a little better on the atmosphere of the game as well. That is one thing that next gen still has failed to catch up on. The Create a Team feature and FCS (1-AA) schools are both not in the game. Some of the team's ratings are a little odd to start out. (Ex: Duke consistently beating Virginia) 60 dollars is too much for a game.

Other Thoughts: Overall it is a fantastic game. Any college football fan should definitely pick this up.
