3 out of 5 eggsStalker

Pros: Follows the same formula that I loved about the original.

Cons: This game just didn't do it for me. The graphics are really cheesy. Too much walking. I feel like a Nomad.

Other Thoughts: I just couldn't get into this game. I loved the original and to this day, still had the scariest scenes I've ever seen in a game. But this one was just too "meh".

5 out of 5 eggsVary awsome game

Pros: this game will work for windows 7 once you patch it on there main site the game is really awesome i have everything at max on a HD RADEON 5770 no lag or anything the graphics are really good AI is not stupid like in a lot of games i have seen maybe 1 or 2 npc's that have actually walked by without seeing me not sure if it was them being stupid or me just being silent

Cons: only one but its not really a con its just me there is no regenerating health at all unless you sit and wait for a while it will eventually start refilling make sure to save a lot because my auto save is not working and i had to start over a lot from the start

Other Thoughts: great game i recommend it for people who like fallout game or even oblivion because its similar in play

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: It is a different kind of game then a normal run'n'gun. You also can do upgrades on your guns and armor.

Cons: Game is hard for a typical FPS player. It was unplayable at first because of software and stuttering. Finally got it working good enough but the game could not keep me involved. I got so bored I ended up playing HL2 (for the x^th time) and found it more enjoyable.

The faction thing is corny, also. Sometimes you can be friendly with a faction but still have a random member of that faction not friendly (glitch?). Also, if you are neutral with factions and pick up more than one factions quests, you have to basically choose one faction's quests to complete. I did not know this until I picked up a bunch of quests from multiple factions only to have them stuck in my quest log after I could not complete them.

Other Thoughts: Good concept, terrible execution. I know it is under $10 but I have had better luck choosing other random games from Steam in the same price range.

3 out of 5 eggsAddictive.

Pros: It can be fun, the large enviorments are neat.

Cons: I get random framerate stutters no matter how high or low the details are. I think it's a sound conflict.

Other Thoughts: It's not an RPG, not this version of Stalker. It's more of a straight forward shooter.

Honestly if there wasn't any items to search for I wouldn't keep playing it.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: Excellent improvement over the previous entry in the series, Shadow of Chernobyl. Graphics quality improved several times over, even at reduced settings. Outstanding value for the money. You really don't want to miss this if you're a fan of other RPG/Shooters like Deus Ex.

Cons: Markedly higher difficulty, even on easier levels. Enemies can almost insta-frag you with pinpoint-accuracy using grenades at obtuse angles. However, if you're like me and patient, you can adjust to this easily.

Other Thoughts: At this price point, the value really does exceed the price. An outstanding game, with as many side missions as you'd like, and multiple factions to join to keep you re-playing time and again.

5 out of 5 eggsDrew Me In Big Time

Pros: I got this for $10 last year and I played it for 2 months straight. It's not your typical shooter, and that's a good thing. This game drew me in better than any other shooter since the first Far Cry..... if you can crank the graphics up (takes a decent system, even a couple years after it's release) it looks great and the storyline is pretty good too... add that into an atmosphere that is the best of any game in a long time and you are all set.

Cons: It's got some bugs and quirks, but there are excellent fixes and/or mods to take care of most of them.

Other Thoughts: I know this game isn't for everyone, but if you like dark themed FPS with a dash of RPG elements and some tactical gameplay - then you need to check this out.

4 out of 5 eggsGame is patched and stable!

Pros: Fun game in my opinion. The Zone has a certain feel to it. You're on Earth, but the Zone seems like a alternate universe. Between the mutants, different factions and the hostile enviroment there is hardly any where safe. The atmosphere is nice in the few safe areas, like when you walk by a campfire an see a few guys eating and playing guitar. I like the fact that there are a large variety of guns all of which can be upgraded to suit your style.

Cons: Even on easy mode, human enimies seem to be able to take lots of damage. A guy in a leather jacket shouldn't be walking around after 5 AK rounds to the chest. So you have to aim for the upper chest/head area with assualt rifles and kinda hope for a head shot since all weapons have bullet spread. Also the enemy seems unnaturally good and making thier grenades land right between your feet.

Other Thoughts: If you are just picking this up for the first time it will be fun. Install the game and install the latest patch before you start playing. Most issues have been resolved with the latest patches. If you don't like the difficulty or the way the game feels there are tons of mods out there that will alter anything you want.

5 out of 5 eggsSequel even better than original

Pros: I loved the first one. REALLY loved it. But when I got an upgraded weapon I was left wishing I could upgrade weapons. And when I got a few starter Artifacts I was wishing they were actually useful. And I wanted to be able to join a faction. All the things I really wanted to be able to do in the first one are here in the prequel. This is THE BEST value in gaming at the moment. Buck for buck there aint anything else out there thats going to deliver this kind of gameplay.

Game play is excellent for me. You can blow right through it if you want but your rewarded for stopping and exploring, interacting with all the NPCs. The guide system makes travel fast (but expensive) and of course there are plenty of mods if you want to change your game play experience. I modded Shadow of Chernobyl because it needed it, but this one stands on its own very well (after the patches).

Cons: It still crashes, especially in Red Forest. Money was too easy to make in the first one, a little to hard to make in this one. Its making me wish I knew how to speak Russian. I'm suspicious that the NPCs are saying terrible things about me but there no way for me to know! And now I have to wait for the third game- Call of Pripyat.

I have an E5200 (at 3.5) a gtx 260 and 4 gigs of ram and although this runs pretty smooth it taxes my system like no other game. Frame for frame it runs hotter than any other game for me, including Crysis, Batman Arkam, etc. Not sure if its the game is coded so well its taking advantage of everything my system can do or coded badly enough it makes my system heat up unnecessarily. Anyway, nothing here worth taking off an Egg for.

Other Thoughts: These Russian doodz know how to make great games! Nuclear doom is so much more fun in games than in real life.

5 out of 5 eggsThis game does work on windows 7

Pros: The game works fine on windows 7. The latest patch disables its copy protection entirely. If you go Tages website, and download the latest version of Tages, the unpatched stalker will work fine, activation, disk protection and all.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: don't be an idiot. check for updates.
