- Other Thoughts: phenom 9500
sapphire 4870 1gb 2gb memory
Wait til December
- Pros: Awesome, immersive game.
- Cons: Buggy as all get out. The third patch just came out this week. I am guessing that it will take a couple of more.
As it is today, I would only rate it a "2", but it is a great game once they get the bugs out. Granted it should not have been distributed in this ridiculous condition, but STALKER is so good that I recommend you keep an eye out for it in the future.
- Other Thoughts: Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl was like this too. But I did not play it until it had been out a year and had few problems. I had never played a FPS game before, and Stalker was one of the more fun things I have ever done. Totally engrossing. And Clear Sky looks to be just as good once they finally get it right. New patches usually mean starting over, so either wait or be ready to start over a lot. Stalker has a great modding community too. I played Crysis after Stalker SOC, and liked STALKER better.

Sequel even better than original
- Pros: I loved the first one. REALLY loved it. But when I got an upgraded weapon I was left wishing I could upgrade weapons. And when I got a few starter Artifacts I was wishing they were actually useful. And I wanted to be able to join a faction. All the things I really wanted to be able to do in the first one are here in the prequel. This is THE BEST value in gaming at the moment. Buck for buck there aint anything else out there thats going to deliver this kind of gameplay.
Game play is excellent for me. You can blow right through it if you want but your rewarded for stopping and exploring, interacting with all the NPCs. The guide system makes travel fast (but expensive) and of course there are plenty of mods if you want to change your game play experience. I modded Shadow of Chernobyl because it needed it, but this one stands on its own very well (after the patches).
- Cons: It still crashes, especially in Red Forest. Money was too easy to make in the first one, a little to hard to make in this one. Its making me wish I knew how to speak Russian. I'm suspicious that the NPCs are saying terrible things about me but there no way for me to know! And now I have to wait for the third game- Call of Pripyat.
I have an E5200 (at 3.5) a gtx 260 and 4 gigs of ram and although this runs pretty smooth it taxes my system like no other game. Frame for frame it runs hotter than any other game for me, including Crysis, Batman Arkam, etc. Not sure if its the game is coded so well its taking advantage of everything my system can do or coded badly enough it makes my system heat up unnecessarily. Anyway, nothing here worth taking off an Egg for.
- Other Thoughts: These Russian doodz know how to make great games! Nuclear doom is so much more fun in games than in real life.
This game does work on windows 7
- Pros: The game works fine on windows 7. The latest patch disables its copy protection entirely. If you go Tages website, and download the latest version of Tages, the unpatched stalker will work fine, activation, disk protection and all.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: don't be an idiot. check for updates.
I wish I could play/ Avoid if you have Win7.
- Pros: I wish I knew.
- Cons: The copyright protection of the disk version of the game is incompatible with Windows 7 beta, and I have not been able to play it. I contacted Deep Silver's customer support about 3 business days ago and have not heard a response. I downloaded new drivers for the copyright protection software, but they did not work. I feel swindled by Deep Silver.
- Other Thoughts: I regret purchasing this game, but it is not newegg's fault. I will now be wary of developers that I have never heard of before.
