1 out of 5 eggs1990 Era Computer Gameplay

Pros: Interesting Graphics

Cons: The computer player will often park vehicles in narrow choke points such as bridges and leave them there - thereby blocking all the forces behind it that want to move on.

Other Thoughts: Countless patches in this interconnected series and Relic still hasn't corrected the problem of units on the same team aimlessly running into and blocking one another. I could understand this happening in one of the original rts games like Age of Empires but there is no excuse for it going on at this late date.

5 out of 5 eggsWhy the bad reviews?

Pros: honestly, I like this game, this game was worth every penny spent, but i did not buy this game from newegg, i got it from my local gamestop! its really fun, I had the gold edition of COH and i bought it from newegg, but had to RMA it. see my review on the company of heroes gold edition!

Cons: none! r u kidding?

Other Thoughts: its fun, worth playing for 2 to 3 hours a day!

3 out of 5 eggsGood but not good enough

Pros: New units are great, very good graphics, in my opinion one of the best if not the best RTS games out there.

Cons: a little pricey for what you actually get

-not enough new features
-new multiplayer unlockables (such as StoneWall etc..) aren't that great, and many people online play classic matches anyway so you really don't have much of a selection for those.

Other Thoughts: needs more 8v8 maps and other than that...nothing really. Great game, worth it to buy it but i would wait till price goes down. Not extremely pricey but you don't get much for it :-/

3 out of 5 eggsThe Only Fair Review

Pros: Low price to entry - if you don't have any of the other CoH games, this is the best one to buy. You get access to 100% of the multiplayer content in the CoH universe. Great value for hardcore gamers!

Added game modes - while Panzerkrieg, Stonewall, and Assault aren't nearly as deep as Classic CoH matches, they do offer a bit of variety, which is never a bad thing.

New maps - the new maps, like the old maps, vary in quality. Some are terrible and some are good. Again, the choice is yours which ones to play, and more choice is always good.

New units - New units offer new ways to play. Be warned, they REPLACE certain old units. You can choose which units to use before each game. If you only own ToV and not the two earlier games, you can still choose to use the old units.

Upgraded content - CoH is a very pretty game, especially in DX10. The visuals and sound have gotten better with each expansion, and this one features some truly top notch artwork.

Cons: Short single player campaigns - This isn't a game for casual gamers. This standalone expansion is heavily focused on multiplayer, and CoH is an astonishingly deep and complex game which can take months to learn. Be prepared to lose, a lot.

Relic Online - You can play the game without being online, but if you want access to all of the features you will need to be signed into Relic Online. This could potentially be a problem for some.

Replacement units - While it's nice to have more units, you must decide whether to use the old ones or the new ones BEFORE a match, instead of having access to everything at once. Some new units serve a different function than the units they replace, some are clearly superior versions of the same role, still others are better in some situations but worse in other situations.

Other Thoughts: At its core, the newest expansion Tales of Valor is still the same superb game that the CoH franchise has always been. But the value of this standalone isn't the same for everyone - it depends on what kind of gamer you are.

If you are a casual gamer looking for single player action, this may not be for you. The original CoH had an epic campaign which should really be experienced. The Opposing Fronts expansion offers two campaigns for the price of one. Both can be had cheaply as a bundle.

If you are mainly interested in online competitive play but don't have CoH, this is the best value. You will pay $30 and get access to what other people have paid $100+ for - the entire CoH multiplayer universe. Just don't fret when you lose to people who have been playing for years.

If you have previous versions but don't know if you want this one, it's a harder decision. The new replacement units are a mixed bag - some are clearly better while some are nearly useless. The new modes can be fu

2 out of 5 eggsAt least Jesse James used a gun!

Pros: Still has great graphics and sound. New units are always a plus! A new map or two...oooh pretty....hmmm...tough to even make up another pro about this game..err expansion pack...err....bonus content...

If you must add this to your COH collection... It should be in the 9.99 bargain bin by the end of June!

Cons: Not enough maps. No animated cut scenes. Poor story line. Should have been offered as downloadable add on content for under ten bucks, rather than sold as a full game. My wallet would shed a tear if it could.

Other Thoughts: Really?? This is the best that could be done to follow up the two previous titles of COH??? My 10 year old has better story lines! No animated cuts scenes, Just comic book sketches here and there. New maps and missions? Don't bother...Same map over and over for each specific mission.
I really expected so much more from Tales of Valor! I was really thinking it was going to have a great storyline and just draw you into the game but, Sadly, It's not the case at all.
Relic really missed the boat on this one. Anyone who is new to the COH franchise will quickly lose interest if this is the kind of fodder Relic will be tossing out in the future.
Seems as if Relic spent more time developing the new "downloader" than they spent on the game itself! In fact..It takes longer to download the new patches and updates than it takes to complete all of the missions!

1 out of 5 eggsLet down

Pros: New vehicles. Interesting new multiplayer games.

Cons: Very disappointed in results. 2 hours of solo campaign? LAME. Its like THQ spent a whole day thinking up a story line for this and went with it. Done, lets see if we can sell that for $28 bucks.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -like the previous COH, great graphic, excellent sound effect.
-added 3 new game modes, new units(also see Cons)
-as always, one of the best real-time strategy game.

Cons: -there is only 1 map for each game mode.
-campaign is so short, only 3 missions for each campaign. you can really finish all missions in 2 hours.
-it is good to have new units. However, you have to replace the original one. For example, if you wanna use M18 Hellcat tank, you would have to replace the M10 Tank Destroyed. which means you cant use both M18 and M10 in the game.

Other Thoughts: there is only 1 map for each game mode. in Tank arena, there are only 3 tanks to choose for each faction. in Assault mode, you can only control 1 unit. all units are pretty much the same. i dont like this type of assault game.

3 out of 5 eggs2 yrs and this is the best they could do?

Pros: Probably one of my favorite RTS's of all time. Here is the good of Tales of Valor.

- Added Some badly needed new multiplayer levels. (if you aren't into playing user generated ones)
- Added new multiplayer modes that can be OK.
- AI is very much improved, used to be able to mop the floor with an Expert now definitely a challenge.
- You have access to all of the companies like Wehrmacht, Panzer Elite, British and American in multiplayer without having to buy the previous games.

Cons: - Disappointingly short campaigns
- New Multiplayer modes while fun and different, don't add to the game. Would rather have a new class and units instead of StoneWall or Assault.
- Couple of new units really don't change the game in any way.

3 stars because its still Company of Heroes but Relic really dropped the ball.

Other Thoughts: A couple of new units and 3 very very short campaigns? The first 2 campaigns (with 3 mini levels each) were literally under 2 hrs to complete each. This is ALL that relic could do in almost 3 yrs since the original release? (I'm guessing opposing fronts was planned from day one) I know many others have complained about this but how about a new class, maybe Russians? This seemed like a poorly done expansion pack with many of the changes not being anything special. What about some new Doctorines? Even a new theatre of war? how about the pacific? SOMETHING... While I love this game, I was pretty disappointed with what this ended up being. If you are a CoH fan, you will buy this anyways..... I can't not recommend it, I just really wanted more from Relic and this new release.
