1 out of 5 eggsNCSoft's latest financial results say it all.

Pros: NCSoft recently published their financial report for the first quarter of 2006. Revenue for City of Heroes/Villains is down 58% in the last three month period. Keep in mind that many people sign up for 6 or 12 months at a time so this only reflects the people who’s accounts have expired in that time. Also keep in mind that this is a 58% decline after including any new players who signed up during that period.

Cons: They have so thoroughly ruined the game that most of the people who still have accounts are not playing them (choosing just to let them expire rather than play). Last month they were offering incentives just to try and get people to log on once a week.

Other Thoughts: Trust the nearly 60% of the players who quit the game in the last 3 months. Fun games don’t have to offer incentives to get people to play, people WANT to play.

Avoid this one like the plague folks.

3 out of 5 eggsSame as CoH with better graphics

Pros: Better graphics and music than CoH. Slightly newer mission maps. New ATs and powers. Environments seems more lively/unpredictable than CoH.

Cons: A lot of the powers are the exact same ones from CoH. Even sounds on new powers are repeated. Low FPS even on decent systems(avg 20fps on 6600GT,A64 3200, 2Gb Ram). Again, like CoH, gets repetitive quickly, about after level 20.

Other Thoughts: CoV doesn't have a much different feel than CoH. Not much is really new besides the outdoor maps and a couple powersets. It really bugged me when a totally new power used the exact same sound effect as another one in CoH. I do like the new maps in CoV though as there seems to be a lot more going on and not so static as CoH outdoor maps. Missions are pretty much the same and got repetitve for me after level 20(current lvl cap is 40). It definitely didn't feel villainous. In summary, gorgeous outdoor maps, gameplay is still just okay.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Fun

Pros: Addictive-Fun-Doesn't take long to level up-Great power sets-Awesome character creation process

Cons: New game lag and disconnects

Other Thoughts: Once you start playing this game, you'll be hooked. I've been playing City of Heroes since its start and this game is just as fun and even more addictive.

Comments: A standalone expansion to City of Heroes, this is trult an awesome game to City of Heroes veterans, and new players alike. Awesome gameplay, great people to play with, interesting missions and graphics. NCSoft has done it again with this new MMORPG.
