Features

Features
More than 220,000 players all on one server: More than 40,000 players regularly play together within one single-shard, persistent universe.

Skill advancement never ends: In EVE Online, there is no "grinding." The unique training system allows you to continue training new skills even while you’re offline – and there is no final level cap. The only limit is your own imagination.

PVP based on skill, not skill level: Tactics and strategy are the name of the game. The quicker you grasp warfare techniques, the faster you’ll prevail.

Free expansions included with every subscription: You’ll never be charged for any EVE Online expansion – as the universe grows, so do the benefits of your subscription.

An economy and market built by players: This dynamic economy is entirely player-operated, from the manufacturing of ships and equipment, to trading in commodities, to the construction of space stations.

The most intense PVP interface: Award-winning Player-vs-Player, ship-to-ship combat engagements that risk some of the most severe death penalties of any MMO.

Unmatched versatility in gameplay: Your destiny is uniquely yours. With more than twelve different bloodlines and an ever-expanding arsenal, you can modify your character, ship and playing style to best fit your needs at any given time.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's growing on me

Pros: Graphics are great, multiple directions to take your character, endless play value.

Cons: The tutorial stage is lengthy and a little boring but it is a necissary evil when it comes to this game. Not really a con, without it you would be lost in this game.

Other Thoughts: Can't wait to get the full grip on this game, I've been playing for two weeks now and have had fun the whole time (hard for me I tend to get bored quickly) so thats saying alot.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat game, hurts the wallet monthly

Pros: Outstanding graphics, great realistic play

Cons: My number one pet peeve with this is the $14.95 monthly fee to play. The second pet peeve is that everything is in pseudo-real-time. I want to go across the galaxy... I have to set my ship up to jump through 7 gates and hope I don't get attacked in the process of getting there. Oh by the way...it will take 45 minutes to get there so either veg for a while or go get coffee.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat scifi MMO

Pros: Great graphics, only good sci fi captial ship on ship combat. Don't need too play everyday for your guy too keep leveling or better said gaining skills. so works better for a working stiff who can't play all the time like a kid can. really nice game for sites heard of people doing this. it also has tales of people making quests around the 1000's off systems. all player are in the same universe so your friend will always be on your sever just got travel too him. lots things too try do from mining too fighting too building your space station. Great Hugh wars of ships that make a super star destroyer look small. get as many poepe as you want or solo in the vast voids of space. Even wow smaller with sheer number of people on one sever as each system acts as it Owen sever so everyone in the same universe.

Cons: hyper capitalism. player rule the .3 and below systems lots of griefers in low security areas. poor times on game partitions. they let a lot of scam-er run free as in only a warning on fake contracts.

5 out of 5 eggsAn Epic game of Epic proportions

Pros: Very in-depth and amazing looking game. Easy to get into (especially for those that don't mouth off being a n00b :P) I've been playing for several years and have several accounts. I've been in several battles that have had 700+ people fighting at once and that does happen quite frequintly if thats the path you choose. This game is very open ended and you can make what you want out of it.

Cons: I'm a pirate, and with that comes some issues, like i am no longer allowed to fly in "safe-space" I can only fly in what is known as low-sec and its pretty much anything goes there. Fixing security status (which is lowered by killing other players) takes a very long time.

Other Thoughts: Anyone looking to get into the pirate/merc life can get ahold of ZFK Hunter. Oh, and if you are looking for an adventure, go to a solar system called dead end, the go planet 5 moon 5

4 out of 5 eggsDecent MMO

Pros: One Universe for all players, not seperate servers/realms.

Corporation (guild) system is well integrated, but optional.

Cerebral game, steep learning curve, many complexities.

Different career/playstyle options. Combat/Resource gathering/Manufacturing/Transport/Scouting/Adminstration/etc.

Real-time based skill advancement system.

Enough tutorials for a new player to educate themselves on the basics of the game.

Market based economy is exploitable for profit.

Dynamic universe that is affected significantly by player-corporations.

Security zones that are safe for new players. Unsecured zones that offer the most profit and excitement - but are completely unforgiving.

Clone system to preserve learned skills and insurance policies available to recover lost/destroyed ship costs.

25,000-45,000 typically online at any given time. Players from all over the globe take part.

Cons: Real-time based skill advancement system sometime requires one to wait quite awhile before upgrading to a new ship or other ability.

3rd person combat is less than visually stunning. Its formulaic and non-immersive.

Takes awhile to get the skills to have any real power, even though you can "grind" enough cash to purchase things pretty easily - you typically still have to wait for your skillset to catch up to your asset level. (You may have enough cash to buy/outfit a battleship, but you still have to wait to learn up the skills to use it.)

Infrequent content patches, but the game is relatively bug-free and the server(s) are quite stable. I think the monthly fee is a bit too steep considering the limited amount of updates.

Other Thoughts: Its a solid game, but I wouldn't recommend it for a casual gamer - or to anyone who likes first-person combat. But if you like a challenge and you have a decent head on your shoulders you might want to check this game out.

5 out of 5 eggsYear's of Great gaming!

Pros: Anyone can play- eve's universe systems have security ratings from 0.0 - .1 .2 .3 up to .9. The 0.0 - .4 systems are pvp allowed and the rest are relatively safe. Want to pvp in the largest battles known to mmo's?Or may be Research and manufacture any item in game from 150mm rail gun up to a Super capital class "Titan". Into space mining to making safe coin? eventually becoming a mining director commanding squads/wing/fleet of miners to make serious coin for you. Is it politics your into? Start a corporation and lead it into 0.0 space to YOUR sovereign system by sword or paper. Authorizing your fleet commanders to take 200 pilots and some heavy stuff to take systems for your expansions.Trader eh? the market is huge, competitive and can make you rich, but is unforgiving to those who dont study or skill up for it.besides you get to pilot the Godmungus "Obelisk" to haul your goods around. and thats just a fraction of EVE.

Cons: The learning curve as others have said is steep. anyone who is used to "winning the game in a week" is in for a shock. you do learn 24/7 as you set your skill training up
and ccp has made it way easier than back in the day.

Other Thoughts: many get frustrated the 1st week or 2 because they "dont get it",but that's just be caused there are 1000 things to do.They have the rookie chat channel and ALOT of player created channels to pool experience from. In eve dont give up...ever. I have a character that is 2 1/2 years old and i just get more and more anxious to log on. now i have 3 accounts becaused i have no need for another mmo!

5 out of 5 eggsIncredibly fun game

Pros: This is not like any other MMO available. The entire playing experience is customizable. There are no requirements to do anything you don't enjoy doing. There are also NO ELVES, NO ORCS and NO MAGIC!

Cons: Steep learning curve. Player based economy takes a little getting used to. Most players would rather blow your ship up than talk to you.

Other Thoughts: You can deal with the learning curve by joining a player corporation, they will help you to understand and be successful.

5 out of 5 eggsLong time player

Pros: No true end game. Massively multiplayer unsharded. Tens of thousands of players online at the same time. Open PVP all the time. Free market. Tons of variety. Anything you can do in real life you can do ingame.

Cons: Um.... tbh i really can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: This game is not for the faint of heart and it is for the hardcore. There is no instant gratification. It can take many years to achieve your goals in the game. Loss has real meaning in the game. And the learning curve is like running full speed into a brick wall, though it has improved greatly since release and has become far more friendly to players.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Game But...

Pros: Awesome game. Fantastic Graphics. Free ship looks cool. Game time card allows you to play without having to use a credit card. (Makes a good gift to some one that doesn't have a credit card.)

Cons: On-line only. Good skills and achievements may take years to train. Can be a very complicated game. On-line language is not filtered.

Other Thoughts: The version that ships out is about a year or so old from the newest version. If you are buying it to keep from having to download the 3gb installer, don't bother, 'cause the update for the version on disk is the same size as the full installer. Hence, you'll still end up downloading the 3gb anyway.

If you do decide to do the download and you run into problems with corrupt files, try using a generic download helper. It will allow you to limit bandwidth, pause/resume and verify the download.
