5 out of 5 eggsWell Worth It

Pros: This is an awesome product that I will continue to use and make more frequent backups. No complaints.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I used this to create an image of a Slip-streamed disk that contains Windows XP-SP3 and motherboard drivers for an ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard (which came out years after Windows XP was released). Until recently the system was working great, but then it kept complaining that there were insufficient resources (within 1 minute of starting), and it was time to re-install the OS. The True Image backup created earlier came to the rescue and I was back up & running within 30 minutes.

4 out of 5 eggsAcronis really picked up the pace

Pros: Use it to image you systems and cut reinstalls down to 15 mins from a wiped drive to windows running strong.

Works with 7 just need to include all partitions on the drive

Got this on sale

Cons: Sometimes it won't read a backup disk when verifying an image.
I've found using a big name USB DVD burner tends to fix this. (or any good quality DVD burner that's interal

Other Thoughts: Great software for wiping a drive

5 out of 5 eggsMost Excellent Cloner

Pros: Searched hi and lo for a solution to cloning to smaller drives. Nothing worked for me as designed/encoded/written.
This True Image Home 210 did a great job on four of my HDDs.
Simple, easy, fast. I will do many more.
My ideal backups are recent clones .... NOT sometimes work software programs, so i can't speak to that aspect of this Acronis tool. Thank You Newegg!

Cons: None that i have encountered.

Other Thoughts: I do Programable Industrial Logic Controlers and seldom mess with PCs.
The trick is to isolate variables as much as possible with any digital project or process.
Using external docking stations and e-sata through a sata raid controler PCI card isolates very well and allows me to clone raid drives with ease. Your source must be clean and defragmented carefully for Acronis to work as designed.
Tis best to pull the drives and isolate them in a second docking station. Then you'll have an almost infallible cloning tool setup for your systems. (a must for raids)

1 out of 5 eggsbe smart, don't buy this

Pros: It's a 50/50 chance it'll work. just check out their forum see how many problems this program has.

Cons: don't expect no clone disk, non stop backup, consolidation....... etc work as advertised, it kill one of my hard drive from cloning, consolidation won't clean up left behind incs files after consolidated, non stop has not work and still has no fix from TI after 8 months pass 2010, and they're working on the 2011 instead of a fix for current version, that tell how their customer service are.

Other Thoughts: searching for other reliable problem

5 out of 5 eggsAcronis back-up

Pros: This works, cuts major hunks of time out of system backup.
Non-OS mode (boot from DVD)is great. No OS palaver in the background!! You get an extreme benefit if you do your Acronis work in conjunction with a clean install of XP, Vista, etc,. ( amodest-size file with no user-data) And it is sooooo easy!

Cons: If booting from DVD, you wont be able to write to a string of dvds. ( you will use a 2-stage process)
Acronis does not clearly state that your file will be compressed. If you look at your source hard-drive, you will think you need 2x the bytes, of target space. This is a happy discovery, tho. My 32.7g sata drive was able to store 2 systems

Other Thoughts: preferably write to hard disk, better, not a USB HD. (perhaps usb 3.0 will change this?) If you dislike cracking the case, get a geeky buddy to do this very easy work. ( if it has to be IDE, you need an upgrade) Alex feinman's burner/writer (google it) will handle the DVD work, I believe, if you must do that.

1 out of 5 eggsAcronis is going downhill..

Pros: *If you are new to backup software it will be a good thing..provided you start with this version and take it for what it is--an introduction into a must have type of a program.

Cons: *Does not! work with .tib backups made by older 2009 version and this is 2010 version--apparently a major revision where they recklessly abandoned backward compatibility for the sake of fancy cute looks. What would happen in a year? Would they abandon customers again and leave you with backup files which are not usable?
*Sloppy hastily put together software done without extensive product validation and polishing of inter and intra workings.
*Acronis Disk Director Suite of 2009 will not work with Acronis True Image Home 2010--the later one will lock computer with an error after reboot so you could not resize the drive with the Director Suite which is a completely separate product from True Image Home of 2009.
*Less secure version than previous one--less safeguards.
*Did NOT uninstall icons/shortcuts from desktop and pinned ones at Start menu. Would you expect more from a product that purports to protect your invaluable data?

Other Thoughts: **If you have 2009 version--KEEP it and keep on using it--there is absolutely no reason to upgrade to the inferior 2010 version of True Image Home software.

**I regret that I bought the latest version--wasted $30 plus precious time installing/uninstalling software and figuring out the cause of the error. I have uninstalled the new version and installed back my Disk Director Suite of 2009 and the True Image Home 11 (2009 edition.) When I got those back in 2009 they were G_d sent and saved me literally days of complete reinstallations of operating system and programs--I am still am VERY glad I bought it and intend to keep on using it. If you can get a hold of 2009 Disk Director Suite and True Image Home then get that set instead. If you are just learning about backup software then get the latest version.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away - buggy

Pros: Very useful software, but the older version (I am using version 8).

Cons: Software buggy, what else!

Other Thoughts: The new product is not working for me (freezing, errors, not booting).
Returned to the old version - paid for nothing (I purchased the new version since planning to install Windows 7)
The same with their new Disk Director Suite that I also purchased from Neweg with a $10 discount. Alas! If I had purchased through Acronis, I would've insisted on getting credit...
Now just have a reward of more experience - do a research before buying even from a known company. Past successes don't mean much (remember Ford and Pontiac)

As for the old Acronis software, kudos for good programs that saved me from loosing all data due to a failed BIOS flash. They also kept my serials on the site!
Unfortunately, as people say, their programmers changed, that's why the new products are inferior (hopefully, updates will come, but for an emergency product you don't want to risk. Get Disk Director 9 and True Image 8)

1 out of 5 eggsClunky, Non-Intuitive, Buggy

Pros: None

Cons: There is no settings tab. Tried to set it to automatically perform backups. You have to go tasks and logs, then to the toolbar, then click on create task. Scheduling is shown as an option but it won't open. 200 page manual doesn't help as it shows which options there are under scheduling and I can't get to the scheduling page. Tech support is slow to reply and all they did was point me to page 162 of the manual, which doesn't explain how to get to the scheduling page. I did get one backup performed, but my computer froze on reboot. The manual does not adequately explain terms such as Acronis backup versus Windows backup. The manual doesn't adequately explain the two types of backup: exploring images and mounting images. It explains whether or not the archive will have a drive letter or not and whether it is a file level, disk or partition image. This means nothing to me; what I want to know is will I be able to pull up documents from the backup and edit them.

Other Thoughts: Overall, a very frustrating backup to use.

1 out of 5 eggsAcronis Rebate Problem

Pros: Newegg.com

Cons: I purchased this b/c of the $25 rebate back in May. I submitted all the required info and documents. In June, I receive postcard saying the rebate is invalid b/c the UPC was missing. Couple days later received another postcard saying missing receipt!! So they got the rebate form but not the UPC and the receipt even though it was in the same envelope! Anyway, they want Original UPC which they lost. I tried to call the number on rebate form but no live operater so I can explain and get my $25. Totally disappointed.
