1 out of 5 eggsA hideous piece of junk!

Pros: none

Cons: Not only does not do what it alleges it will, installing the operating system selector stopped the system from booting and forced me to do a full disk recovery (system recovery only did not solve the booting problem).
Also-tech support is nonexistent.

Other Thoughts: It deseves a negative 4 star rating, but this option is not available. By far the worst piece of software I ever had the misfortune to deal with!

1 out of 5 eggsNot Acronis, not any more...

Pros: Acronis is at least reliably functional, in my experience.

Cons: Support will be inadequate and expensive. Probably doesn't support the latest tech, unless you're lucky, and they'll charge you for the "update" that does.

Other Thoughts: Acronis used to be a great company, but now they are out to chisel every penny from you they can. I bought an earlier version of DD, because they had a good history, and I like to reward companies. This also offered them two additional sales of the True Home Backup product, too.

Came the time when I really needed to use DD, I discovered it did not support GPT disks -- despite the fact that I'd purchased it more than 2 years AFTER the release of Windows 7, which **requires** GPT functionality -- and I would have to pay a $25 fee to upgrade to a version that did support GPT.

I don't expect miracles -- but failing to support it TWO YEARS after release, then demanding a huge upgrade fee to get access to functionality that should have come with it on the day of purchase is ridiculous.

Instead I discovered an alternative, which supported GPT in its FREE edition, and who has since gotten my PAID purchase. And will continue to do so for the indefinite future.

I don't recommend or purchase Acronis products any longer. They are out to cheat you of every penny they can.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful .. the series is done

Pros: it has a colorful box .. shiny cd

Cons: the product will not work on newer hardware.
and older backups will not restore?
Nothing worse than using a product for 6+ years and finding out your backups will no longer restore?
What good is an imaging software, that can backup with no errors, only to find out later, the backup cannot be restored?
I am officially done with Acronis ..

Do yourself a favor and go try Macrium Reflect
For FREE it does everything Aronis did before this version

Other Thoughts: no more Acronis for me

Pros: Works best on boot disk

Cons: Acronis (WILL NOT) let you off there email list.
Been trying to get off since I bought the dd 11 upgrade. There opp out link is blank page or not found on Avery email you get.
I have bought acronis dd and backup software Avery year since 2008. I will not buy acronis again and will stay with dd 10 and true image home 2009 since avg bought it out.
DD 10 will find and work on sata hd if you use basic instead of full.

3 out of 5 eggsIt Sometimes Works

Pros: More flexible than Windows disk manager.

Cons: Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not!

Other Thoughts: Well it is hard to rate this one. I like this program and has been using it for a long time. I thought this is the most popular disk utility software. But I could be wrong. I know it has its own problem, but just surprised to see there are so many negative reviews.

This program is good to change the size of my partitions. But it did a bad job in disk cloning. I tried to clone a 120GB disk to a 160GB disk and the new disk would not boot.

Its disk image software has more problems. I consider it a junk if it is not 100% reliable with a backup software.

Try to find something else.

1 out of 5 eggsCan't give negitive Eggs...

Pros: It kinda works, sorta. The speed isn't bad at all.

Cons: The layout and options are confusing for a novice and even a bit baffling for an experienced user. Log files are worthless. Compression is not impressive in the least. All files are in a proprietary format instead of something like XML. No scripting available.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my wife's small consulting business. Two weeks later she calls me actually crying in frustration. Four people in her office couldn't get it to work right and/or couldn't figure it out. The NAS with 4Tb drives had filled up in 2 weeks with backups. I spent 3 days working on it and found it was doing 2 different full system ghost backups that were on nowhere listed in Acronis and no log files were created. Also someone turned on the continuous backup but then turned it right back off. It shows that in the log file. But it didn't turn off.

So it was doing 1 continuous backup, 2 ghost full backups and 1 backup that my wife had set up every single day. As it turns out we needed to restore a file that was accidentally deleted, no problem I thought. I had about 20 backups to choose from. Wrong. Seems someone had set the folder the file was in to 'hidden' and 'OS'. Acronis didn't back it up.

In the end I uninstalled Acronis and just wrote a script using Winrar (which is free) and set it to run in Windows Task Scheduler. So now every night we get a good backup that anyone can read with free software and has about 50% more compression then Acronis does.

I'll go for free any day over this nightmare.

1 out of 5 eggsHonestly, it's useless...

Pros: Frankly, not a thing.

Cons: I can't find anything that Disk Director does that native Windows 7 disk manager doesn't do. In fact Windows Disk Manager does more! Specifically, to get Acronis to manage Dynamic Disks you have to buy another $40 package. Windows Disk Manager natively handles Dynamic Disks.

Other Thoughts: Best bet, Forget Acronis and just learn to go Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Storage/Disk Management in Windows. You'll be better served and save $40.

It's not that it's horrid software. It's just not needed.

Pros: Previous versions worked well, nut NOT this version (True Image 12)

Cons: Acronis give you 29 days from registration "ONLY" to be able to even contact them... They are 100% hidden from you for any other contact with them for "any" reason.
I Purchased a Program, which did not run properly after Installation...I ended up, after 29 days, having to replace my Hard drive with a new Windows installation ( NOT associated with the Acronis installation, I don't believe...HOWEVER, I could "not" re-install My Acronis True Image Software...AND the Acronis cxontact svcreen ( even just to send an email ... Was Greyed out. They could care "less" about me as per Customer Support.
I will NEVER buy Acronis software again...( I didn't lose my money on the 1st purchase ( due to a 100% rebate with the purchase...DO NOT buy Acronis Software

1 out of 5 eggsAcronis DD11

Pros: None - I purchased this product from Acronis!

Cons: Watch out! Read the small letters! It doesn't support the GPT athoug it claims it does! Didn't support any of my Win7/64 GPT hard drives so no disk management and no cloning. It supports only MBR, I guess!
