5 out of 5 eggsAcronis Saves the Day (Again)

Pros: Easy to use. Inexpensive. Allows re-sizing of partitions. Can convert between Windows Backups and native. Better than the native MS bare metal restore.

Cons: Full Product is Not Free :)

Other Thoughts: Have used this on WD drives many times to save customer data as well as my own. Most recently, I had a Windows Restore from a different mfg fail to boot when restored to the new drive. I was able to backup and restore the failing drive, but the image on the brand new drive refused to boot. Was able to use this product to clone the failing drive and, success! The new drive, with the same image as before, will now boot.

4 out of 5 eggsThank you, oh saver of bacon

Pros: This program has saved my bacon on several occasions. Easy enough to image a drive and then reimage a new drive when your old one dies, as my drives have had a tendency to do.

Cons: Some of the kids these days are concerned about the Acronis and what it does to your OS and whatnot (Google around for it). Me, I'm fine with it.

Other Thoughts: Saver of bacon.

5 out of 5 eggsStill love it!

Pros: Making backups and clones super easy.
Not too pricey
Has tools to convert their native .tib files into .vhd and .vmdk so you can use the images as a virtual machine.

Cons: Only thing that has bothered me was when I cloned my windows 8 drive to an SSD it did not keep its activation, but that is probably a windows 8 issue not one with acronis.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems ok for me

Pros: There are simple and easy ways to do the basic tasks without having to explore the details. The recovery method is really easy from an attached drive and mounting any past image to recover files or look at things works great. It seems to run and is reliable for me even on Windows 8.

Cons: The interface and features get really messy very quick once you dive into the details. Just trying to do basic things like figure out how to do the incrementals and how the schemes work and set schedules and things is not that obvious unless you have indepth experience with IT systems and backups.

Other Thoughts: It certainly is a more complicated product than version 6 which I started with years ago (and still have running for full disk images on XP in fact!) Obviously the growth in feature set affects that. But, I have not had all the technical difficulties and failures and such others have reported. Who knows why but I am lucky I guess

1 out of 5 eggsLatest Build 6514 Has Known Bug

Pros: Excellent image backup and restore of disks/partitions.

Cons: Contains bug known to Acronis. Must purchase TI 2014 for fix.

Other Thoughts: Acronis True Image (TI) 2013 has a known (to Acronis) bug. The disk imaging application will NOT save your "Disk backup options". This means every time you run a disk or partition image, you have to reenter all your backup options. This bug was NOT in Acronis TI 2012, of which I am a multi-license owner. Acronis created this bug in TI 2013. What annoys me enormously, according to the forums, Acronis refuses to fix the bug (as of the last TI 2013 build 6514, 4/4/2013). Instead, Acronis is reporting the bug (that they created) is fixed in its new version and recommending customers' upgrade to TI 2014. Of course customers' have to buy the 2014 version to fix the bugged 2013 version, which they also had to purchase. WOW…

Acronis has a lot of nerve with this one. I'm at the point where I'm tired of inputting my backup options over and over again (I have 3 computers that I backup regularly. A 4th computer, opsys XPSP3, is still running TI 2012, thankfully). My solution is to uninstall TI 2013 and re-install TI 2012. TI 2012 worked perfectly for me, backing up and restoring without a hiccup. I was a little apprehensive about buying this TI 2013 version, knowing from lots of experience with backup/restore software that newer versions are not always better versions. I think I'll stick with TI 2012 until I upgrade my opsys (Win7Pro) to a point where TI 2012 no longer works. And then, I'll look elsewhere for a backup/restore platform.

4 out of 5 eggsTrueImage 2013

Pros: It works well. New features are good.

I have been working with Acronis software since like 8 and have been a big advocate, calling it like SM. Ghost on steroids.

New interface, like going from xp to windows 8 (which it works on). Mounting images menu took a little while to come to terms with

Cons: A little heavier on resources but more features. Had issues with raid controller drivers with the trial. Still worth the cost.

Other Thoughts: Home user price friendly would be cooler, including such features as Universal Restore, etc.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works!

Pros: It worked flawlessly

Cons: cero, nada, none

Other Thoughts: I purchased a Seagate 2TB HDD that I wanted to use for storage space and a 320GB Seagate HDD was being used as the HDD with Windows 7 on it. The 320 GB HD blew and I could only use the 2TB HDD to do a image restore. I wanted to have Win 7 back on a smaller drive but Windows backup program wouldn't let me restore on a smaller drive. Acronis let me restore my OS on another 320GB drive from the 2TB with no issues. That's why I gave it 5 eggs you see.

1 out of 5 eggsDo you like to gamble?

Pros: Includes CD coaster

Cons: I purchased the XP version of Acronis when XP started showing up on computers. Acronis said it supported XP. When I applied Service Pack 2 Acronis stopped working. When I asked them how to fix this they said they didn't support Service Pack 2 even though it was still XP. They said I needed to buy a current version. The "XP version of Acronis I had was less than a year old. (I purchased from Newegg) Since then I have advised people to stay away from Acronis. Once they have your money, you're on your own.

Other Thoughts: This review is for Acronis and not Newegg. I think Newegg is a great place to shop.

3 out of 5 eggsA bit confusing

Pros: Cloned perfectly. That's really why I purchased it.

Cons: I use the daily backup as well, but I have no idea if it is backing up what I want backed up and where it is going. I backup multiple drives to an external usb harddrive. I try a manual backup and it looks like it is only backing up my C: I need to dig a little deeper.

Other Thoughts: Got a combo deal on it so for the money I spent cloning my hard drive I am fine with it. I didn't spend a whole bunch of time reloading OS and copying files.
