2 out of 5 eggsIt has a bug in the Scheduler

Pros: The price was good and since I have Acronis 10, Aconis 11 and Acronis 12 I was disposed to buying Acronis 2014.

Cons: I tried to use this for 3 months on a Windows 8 (then updated to Window 8.1) desktop computer. The Scheduler feature has a severe bug in it. No matter what options are selected, upon boot-up it resets to the current day and proceeds to begin making an backup of the System (C Drive). This has caused nothing but grief since it dogs down the computer. I have attempted every possible way to turn it off permanently, but it ALWAYS resets to the current day on boot-up. I have checked on the Acronis blogs and others have the same problem. I have given up. Acronis offers no help and no patch to fix this issue. I am using EaseUS ToDo Free in its place. I depend on having backup images for all my computers (7 totally) because I refuse to waste 20 to 30 hrs reinstalling a system from scratch (with 50+ programs and all their settings). The purchase was a huge disappointment.

5 out of 5 eggsMuch Better than Microsoft's Offering

Pros: Easy to use and very customizable. Can also read/convert Windows system image files. Fairly speedy in backup operations.

Cons: No real cons.

Other Thoughts: Very satisfied with True Image's operations. Started with the free version that came with my WD hard disk and when the full version was available at a discount, I jumped. Use it to regularly back up my laptop to two 500Gb external drives Also use the newer free version on my older tower for backups and cloning purposes. IMHO, this is the best backup software on the market for the price. Well worth the price to protect your data and to clone drives/partitions.

1 out of 5 eggsNothing Works - Useless

Pros: I have been using Version 11 for years and it worked perfectly. The 2014 Version is totally useless because not one task functions.

Cons: I loaded this on a Dell windows 8.1 system. Not one function worked at all. It read the disks properly but does absolutely nothing.

Other Thoughts: I am really disappointed after being so happy with the previous version.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Fairly reliable backup... I know it works because I had to use an image to restore my system when my SSD died a few months ago.

Lots of features and utilities... it's more than just a backup program.

Cons: A little klunky to get scheduled backups setup, not very intuitive.

Other Thoughts: I had to upgrade from TI'12 with a new Haswell system, it works very much like my older version does.

Make sure you experiment with your backup solution, checking to make sure it actually WORKS... that's the only reason I found out TI'12 didn't work with my Haswell system. I would hate to have a system crash and THEN find out my backups won't work.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk Software

Pros: It installs

Cons: Very very slow performance. File synchronization is the worst part of this software. They've basically dumbed down their software to the point of it being useless. I switched to a free file sync software that works much much better than Acronis'

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this piece of garbage software to my worst enemy. I would recommend you look at some of the Open Source options available before you waste your money as I did.

4 out of 5 eggsJumping up from Acronis 2009

Pros: I've been using this forever and screamed mightily about every release. Until now I stuck with 2009 which to me was the best they ever did. Two major problems. Up until 2012 or 13 they didn't have any way to "EFFECTIVELY" set a fixed number of backups and have Acronis wipe out the old backups and start again with a single full one. I have to test this more but I think this now works. Also I'm hoping this works with NAS drives. I've tried 2013 on some drives and it seems to work. I can't trust 2009 to do this stuff so I think it's up to 2014 for me and all my clients. The thing is (and I list this both as a pro and a con of Acrois) I don't trust any backup software until I've really tested it. Lord help all those people who blindly run with the software they get with new drives. I just hope they find it works when their C drive crashes.
I've tested this a lot and it has saved my customer's butts. I never trust just one backup, because it can always screw up. Redundancy is king. But you must have something and this is at least an evil I know.

Cons: The usual.

Other Thoughts: I don't do anything fancy with this stuff. I notice that the negative reviews come from people who are trying things like Linux. I put this on my clients' Windows XP and 7 computers (I steer everyone away from Win8 like death). And it seems to be working in this environment. With faster huge hard drives and USB 3.0 you can have a different data or full disk backup every day. Redundancy gives security. I'm curious if others using more vanilla-type environments are having problems with 2014.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Longer a Reliable Backup Solution

Pros: No Pros. I have been using this product since version 7 and while it had issues back then, the newer versions and the 2014 premium upgrade I recently acquired is totally worthless. Nonstop backup exists only on paper. The problems with nonstop backup "stopping" is well known and Acronis has done nothing to resolve the issue or other issues. Latest issue I ran into is that I discovered it won't backup all the files in a selected folder.

Cons: Does not work as advertised simple as that and Acronis has no solutions

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money. The backup solution built in to windows 8.x is a better back up solution than Acronis product.

1 out of 5 eggsIt works, well sort of...

Pros: It works, well sort of...

Cons: No flexibility at all in naming your backups. You either do it their way or no way.

Each year for the past six years I have purchased the newest version of acronis home backup. Somewhere acronis lost their way. I was hoping they would find their way back. But I was wrong, I give up on them and will pass up anymore new versions.

Time to checkout other backup solutions on the market.

Other Thoughts: Acronis ruined a pretty decent product. Time to move on.

4 out of 5 eggsLimits

Pros: The best PC life is in the fast lane, but that usually means using a SSD that has to be backed up and then transferred to a standard hard drive to defrag from time to time.
fortunately Acronis can do both. Clone, & back-up.

Cons: Windows holds the winning card when formatting or working with partitions and Acronis could really be a benefit to the user in a jam when a Hard disc crash occurs by just providing the steps and procedure, but they don't.

Other Thoughts: In windows 8.1 when formatting and resizing a partition it takes just a blink of an eye, In Acronis, Disk management will allow you to activate a disk so that Windows will recognize it but from there on you have to use Windows Admin tools to actually format and resize.

1 out of 5 eggsuseless for cloning

Pros: none

Cons: Attempted to clone a Windows 8 installation from a SSD to a larger SSD. The result was a badly botched Windows installation on the larger drive. I had to use the Windows built-in capability to restore my system and re-install all my software programs.

Should have trusted the other reviewers comments.
