1 out of 5 eggsNightmare product

Pros: Previous versions were good.

Cons: True Image 2015 is not working right for me. I've used Acronis backup software for almost 20 years and it saved me a number of times. I upgraded from TI 2014 and Disk Director 11 in Nov, 2014, to TI 2015 and DD 12 and have had trouble since. I've tried uninstalling and that doesn't clean out the files or the registry entries. Then, the reinstall of TI 2015 has the same problems (can't find some of the tib files, and other issues). DD 12 now won't reinstall because cannot delete the previous installation (which was uninstalled through Windows Uninstall. I'm going to try reverting to TI 2014 and DD 11, and hope for the best.

Other Thoughts: System is fully up to date Windows 7 Professional 64, 8 GB memory and plenty of disk space. I've been working with Windows since it first launched and am comfortable with editing the registry. TI 2015 and DD 12 have caused more trouble than any other software I used in the last 10 years.

1 out of 5 eggsA Bridge TOO FAR!!

Pros: None.

Cons: As mentioned by other users, the 2015 edition is completely non-intuitive and many important feature ( e.g. ability to add a date to the file name) have disappeared. I have been using Acronis TI for years and it has saved me innumerable times, but I uninstalled 2015 and reinstalled 2014. What is wrong with their development team that they put out such drek !?

There are MANY who HATE the WIN 8 GUI and do not even use it. Why emulate it in the new 2015 product?

One other thing: Why, when you start a restore from within the program do they insist on permanently changing your BIOS startup setting? I have to change the entire BIOS startup priority each time I make the mistake of restoring from within the Windows program GUI. To avoid this, place Acronis Recovery Disk in your CD/DVD drive, restart, Press F9 repeatedly immediately when computer begins to reboot, and boot from the drive that contains the Recovery Disk ,then follow onscreen instructions. Makes things a lot easier, especially if you have no idea how to deal with your BIOS. If you call Acronis with the BIOS issue, they will swear that it was not their program that changed everything and offer no help. After a lot of frustrating problem solving, it IS THEIR PROGRAM'S PROBLEM!

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid if possible

Pros: True Image will backup and restore a system or data. Disk Director performs as advertised.

Cons: I am a long time user of Acronis products which have worked very well. However Acronis 2015 is a flawed product that seems to have been rushed to market. Many of the useful features from previous releases have been removed. The procedure to backup and restore has been redesigned to be almost totally non-understandable and very non-intuitive. Settings for previous executions of the system are lost and require the user to redo and repair the interface. Acronis technical support is badly flawed in that if you do not have a question within 30 days of purchase you are required to pay them to fix their defects. It seems they have decided that TI from a cell phone is ‘cool’ and is the way of the future. I would advise anyone considering this product to carefully consider all the options.

Other Thoughts: Why do companies who have an excellent product think they have to 'modernize' to stay up?

2 out of 5 eggsExtremely raw, wait at least 6 months to migrate

Pros: * beautiful box

Cons: Both products are extremely raw. I have been on the line with their support for more than 4 hours. First, True Image 2015 has no backup configuration import/export, and if something goes wrong when you update True Image 2014 to True Image 2015 (and it did in my case), you will loose all backup settings and scheduled backup tasks (thanksGod, the actual backup files stayed in place) and you will have to re-create them manually. Before moving to 2015, export your backup settings in 2014, thus, you will be able to go back to 2014, do import, upgrade to 2015 again or stay in 2014. Second, current builds of TrueImage and DiskDirector 12 (December 2014) have a known issue (admitted by their support) that prevents you from create a joint bootable media for both, only 2 separate bootables can be created. If you want to create a joint bootable, they advise an older build 6055 of TrueImage 2015. And, here is where more trouble started for me, there is no way to install neither Disk Director 11 nor 12 any more at all. Thus, another advice - before moving to these new products, make a full system disk backup. The support promises to get in touch within 24 hours.

Other Thoughts: I can't say much about backup functionality of True Images 2015 and disk partiotioning of Disk Director 12, since I was mainly messed up by installation/uninstallation of these products and bootable media creation following advices of their support. I also lost my backup settings and backup scheduled tasks configuration, but was lucky to have an exported configuration of all of them from True Image 2014.

BTW, my system is Windows 7 64-bit, may be on other systems everything is fine.

I can definitely say that it looks like they paid more attention to the Windows-8-like style of True Image 2015 with gigantic buttons and tiles than the actual thorough testing and quality of the products.
