5 out of 5 eggsGood game

Pros: Paid a total of $0.00 for the game, as long as the mail in rebate I sent out arrives. Game is kind of like GTA. I have only played for a few minutes.

Cons: Can't really complain about a free game, but I will. It does require steam. I don't think anyone likes steam. But, if you plan on playing games that are actually good, you will most likely have to eventually install steam, uplay or games for windows live or all of them. That is the new reality of PC gaming.

Other Thoughts: Check those latest email deals often, newegg has been giving away a bunch of stuff lately for free. I got this game, Brink, 2 HDMI cables (10 ft and 15 ft) and a tube of Arctic Silver 4. I also saw 4 different anti-virus programs, an animation program, some language learning programs and a pdf converter. I couldn't be bothered to order any of them since I saw no use for them. But I do wonder how the manufacturers and newegg make money off of these items. Maybe the software is jam packed with spyware. Remember the old saying: there is no such thing as a free meal. As for the HDMI cables and TIM, I got nothing.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst game ever?

Pros: Combat is fun, but that's less than 10% of the game. Voice acting is great, but dialog is terrible. Some of the graphics are nice.

Cons: Story, driving, story, some of the graphics, story, driving, story, dialog, story, and story.

Other Thoughts: The story was horrible. I did get this free, and for some reason played through the whole thing. Can't say no to a free game, but I just wanted to warn anyone who had even the most fleeting notion to drop real money on this not to bother.

2 out of 5 eggsNot like Mafia I, unfortunately

Pros: The graphics are terrific, the driving physics feel great, movement and shooting are good.

Cons: WAY too short, stupid and frustrating ending, no incentive to go out on your own. The concentration of the cops in town is too large. You must CHEAT the game in order to use a steering wheel controller!! (ridiculous) The racism and vulgarity in the game is just embarrasing. I can deal with the cussing, fair enough, but if I were a store owner, I would not even stock the game because of the racism.

Other Thoughts: The game is too short and there is no satisfaction to going around doing your own thing. If the game would allow you to, say, purchase new souped up vehicles from the car dealer or something, there would be incentive to rob banks and such on your own...but the game is just way too canned as it is. If this game were made like Mafia I but with the new city and graphics, year setting, etc, it would have been the biggest hit of the decade. LOL

1 out of 5 eggsCompletely linear game, disgraces 'open world'

Pros: Game starts off with a bang, accelerator limiter helps keep you from burning out whenever starting from a complete stop. Very helpful for those using keyboards instead of pressure sensitive controllers.

Cons: Typical Xbox/PS3 port to PC game. Interface and controls were obviously designed primarily for console users. Apart from that, the game is extremely linear. You are ALWAYS on a mission, which i guess is a good thing since there is absolutely nothing to do in the open city other then find old Playboy pics *yawn*. Cutscenes that would normally be played with the ingame engine are awkwardly replaced by CGI which ends up completely killing the immersion. The game is obviously going to rely on DLC to put it where it should have been at release, which I find to be completely appalling.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money on this game.

4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful, fun, short

Pros: Gorgeous graphics, detailed facial animations, brilliant voice acting, intriguing story, fun game play, tight mechanics.

This game was clearly a labor of love for the creators, and it shows. If you liked GTAIV, you'll like this too.

Cons: Even though the game isn't actually short, it feels short because of the way the game ends. It has the first three elements of a book: Introduction, Complication, Cl1max, but no Resolution. It feels like the story is headed somewhere...but it never quite gets there and leaves the player feeling a bit cheated.

The open world elements are just a facade - you can't deviate from the story or do anything in a different order. I didn't really care about this, but some people might.

The music is pleasant, but pretty limited consider how much there actually is from that era. You'll find yourself listening to the same songs over and over, which is not as bad as it sounds since they grow on you.

Other Thoughts: This game is for adults. That's why it's rated M. Don't expect it to be about flying pink teddy bears with "I lurve you" written on their stomachs. Some people think that just because they have kids that the entire world needs to become nerf-ified. They're the same people who think that having kids with them gives them special privileges, like holding up bathrooms, cutting in line, and driving like an idiot with a "baby on board sticker" across the back.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad, I like it.

Pros: Shows of Physx when settings are maxed especially in 1920x1080 or higher ( I have 5760x1080 with Bezel Correction to 5828 x 1080), Does a great job of showing off to Nvidia Surround and Eyfinity

Cons: I hear it is too short.
I know it has too much driving. You can run around and kill people and get in police chases but you cannort loot the people you kill very sad. Will not let you deviate from story line.

Other Thoughts: Great soundtrack, decent graphics, good interface. Not long enough and not enough freedom. If you can pick it up free or cheap its worth ~20.00 to play just to see the surround mode if you have the setup. Oh and for those who complain about the language with kids the game is called MAFIA 2 what about the word MAFIA says aimed at children? You have the freedom not to buy the game.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible language, no story

Pros: None

Cons: No story, terrible language, not fit for children. If you get it and it is on your computer, they will play it.
would have given it a no eggs rating if that were possible!

Other Thoughts: Came with a video card. I would never buy it.

3 out of 5 eggsBadda Bing

Pros: Great Story, Great Voice Overs, Great Environment, Fun Combat. Came Free with my Video Card.

Cons: Short Game play, Linear, Graphics are a bit blocky but what do you expect from a console port.

Other Thoughts: This could of been an awesome game had they gave you more freedom to do side quests and customize yourself more. Instead this is more of a linear roller coaster ride. COP AI is a bit weak. Would of been nice if they would of made it more of a sandbox (IE: Grand Theft Auto) with the Story Arc they had. Given how big the city is, it would seem they intended to do this but it looks like they were forced to ship it out before it was ready and had to leave the sandbox mode out of the game. Here's hoping Mafia III adds these things.

3 out of 5 eggsShort, and unrealistically self-centric

Pros: 1) Excellent controls

2) Excellent environment

3) Nice old bag of cars to drive around.

4) Nice story and cut scenes.

5) Good dialgoues and voice acting.

Cons: 1) As many have said, the game feels too short.

2) What many are trying to say here when they say there is just too much driving and cutscenes involved, I think what they mean is that the game lacks the essential discovery element. Everything is set so right that you can't go wrong unless you are shot dead. This is the biggest shortcoming of this title. IGN reviews this game and says the same thing - "it feels like a Truman Show movie", everything is there because of you. - IGN.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't mind paying 60 dollars if they come up with a solid Mafia III that has a better gameplay, same environment, graphics, and acting, and more free roam. How about letting the user create/explore hidden stories by being in different situations?

3 out of 5 eggsmeh

Pros: Good Story

Cons: Too much driving, and the traffic lights seem to be real-time.

Other Thoughts: Not worth the $49. Maybe if it was $29.
