Sid Meier's Civilization®: Beyond Earth™ is a new science-fiction-themed entry into the award-winning Civilization series. Set in the future, global events have destabilized the world leading to a collapse of modern society, a new world order and an uncertain future for humanity. As the human race struggles to recover, the re-developed nations focus their resources on deep space travel to chart a new beginning for mankind.

As part of an expedition sent to find a home beyond Earth, you will write the next chapter for humanity as you lead your people into a new frontier and create a new civilization in space. Explore and colonize an alien planet, research new technologies, amass mighty armies, build incredible Wonders and shape the face of your new world. As you embark on your journey you must make critical decisions. From your choice of sponsor and the make-up of your colony, to the ultimate path you choose for your civilization, every decision opens up new possibilities.

  • Seed the Adventure: Establish your cultural identity by choosing one of eight different expedition sponsors, each with its own leader and unique gameplay benefits. Assemble your spacecraft, cargo & colonists through a series of choices that directly seed the starting conditions when arriving at the new planet.
  • Colonize an Alien World: Explore the dangers and benefits of a new planet filled with dangerous terrain, mystical resources, and hostile life forms unlike those of Earth. Build outposts, unearth ancient alien relics, tame new forms of life, develop flourishing cities and establish trade routes to create prosperity for your people.
  • Technology Web: To reflect progress forward into an uncertain future, technology advancement occurs through a series of nonlinear choices that affect the development of mankind. The technology web is organized around three broad themes, each with a distinct victory condition.
  • Orbital Layer: Build and deploy advanced military, economic and scientific satellites that provide strategic offensive, defensive and support capabilities from orbit.
  • Unit Customization: Unlock different upgrades through the tech web and customize your units to reflect your play style.
  • Multiplayer: Up to 8 players can compete for dominance of a new alien world.
  • Mod support: Robust mod support allows you to customize and extend your game experience.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great game with lots to do. Many hours of game play with it.

Cons: You have to load it using stream!!! When stream is under a heavy load you cant play the game. I bought a hard copy and isntalled into my pc and I cant play it due to having to load it up on a stream account! If i had known this, I would have passed as I cant play it when I want to.

Other Thoughts: Would have givin it a 5 egg but the trouble with stream killed off three eggs!!!

5 out of 5 eggsMuch Better than Civ V

Pros: Significantly better layout and graphics
Response times are much better
Characters are more interesting

Cons: Processing between turns can still be a little long even on a X99 5930 systems

Other Thoughts: If you loved Civ V ( which I really do ) then the new version is something you will really spend alot of time with.

1 out of 5 eggsJust for the money

Pros: No immediate or apparent bugs

Cons: The game is utterly unnecessary as CIV5 is OBVIOUSLY far far superior. A waste of money on a repainted used up car. Can't return or get a refund because of licensing. Bummer all the way around

Other Thoughts: The difference between Civ:BE and Civ 5 is similar to the difference between Civ 4 and Civ 5 only going in the wrong direction. This mash-up was brought to market ONLY for the cash it would generate from the fans of Civ series. Sid Meier has badly betrayed the fan base and scooted off with the cash. Oh well.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat civ gamne,, alredy over 20 hours into it.

Pros: Graphics:
Are polish from what civ 5 looked like, animations are the same on vehicles and soldiers as the ones on civ 5 but somwhow they look more fluid.

Is a lot better than civ 5, actually on my opinion that was the worst civ 5 part, the diplomacy sucked very very bad, other leaders were asking for favors all the time, and when you needed something even the most simple thing they would refuse to help you, not to mention that they were alwas asking you to go to war against other leaders. and calling you just to tell you that you suck. now all of that its gone, they only call you for important reasons, such as deals, friendships declarations etc.... one thing i loved is that they dont ask for free stuff anymore, when they need something and you dont need something from them, they offer you ¨favor voucher¨, which you can use later on when you need something from them so they pay you back in some way.

After some hours into the game i can say that the fact that each affinity has its special units is just awesome, and those units are very powerful, remember the time on civ 5 that in a war was your tanks/ marines or 2nd world war soldiers and planes, against the same kind of units, well that is pretty much over on beyond earth, unless you are fighting another civ with the same affinity then you will be facing different units each unit with their strenghts and abilities, also by getting more affinity levels you can improve the old units so they wont be obsolete it has take me some time to get used to the new techologies web, at the start it can be very confusing but you get used to it in the way that you learn to focus your research on your affinity and special units/victory conditions.

On the previous games the barbarians were always a important factor of the game at least at the begining. but in my opinion the barbarians at least on civ 5 on the late game was very bad, they were just annoying, sometimes you were at war with tanks, stealth bombers etc against other civ, and suddenly you had one of your cities work squares all destroyed by barbarians with bows and maces dressed on dirty primitive clothing, that was very unrealistic and even more the fact that somehow being barbarians with no access to any science they would suddenly pop with machine guns and high end weapons. that being said, now they are replaced by the aliens living on the planet, and aliens are amazing, from the start you may find yourself with very powerful ones that laugh at your pitty weapons, theres a lot of types and it takes a lot of time and resources to fight them which i think its nice.

Quests and Science;
Quests are amazing, and they provide nice rewards also i love the way most of them gives you multiple rewards choices so you can really shape your civ as you like. also the science tree its good, it takes some time to understand how it works the benefits.

Awesome soundtrack, it fits perfect into the game.

Cons: i really do not have any cons other thsn they recycled some stuff from the civ 5 game, like dialogs and units animations. other than that i think the game its great.

Other Thoughts: there is people complaining thta you cant adjust the settings like more AI players on a small map or less o a big map, but you can, on the sponsor screen selection, at the top right of the screen its an advance setup option that lets you pick those settings as you like.
