Turn-based strategy gaming is taken to a whole new level with Civilization IV for PC. Selecting solo or multiplayer mode, players choose from one of 18 civilizations and 26 world leaders to create history. Play as the shrewd Queen Victoria, the wise George Washington, or the cunning Julius Caesar.

Like past games in the Civilization series, in Civilization IV players build an empire and compete against rival civs. Your civilization can take a more peaceful path and win via culture, diplomacy, or scientific advances. If you're the rowdy type, you can win by conquest or world domination. Learn to balance your cities' economy, happiness, and research to keep your civs growing. Keep your citizens happy, or they'll revolt. Keep your scientists busy, or your civ will be stuck with catapults while your neighbors have cannons.

Civilization IV improves upon its predecessor in many ways. The 3D graphics engine enables spectacular, detailed world maps. Players can zoom in to individual cities to see and hear them come to life. The new Religion feature adds a twist to your civ's development, while overall gameplay has been streamlined. The latest installment in one of the greatest game franchises of the ages, Civilization IV for PC is guaranteed to keep wannabe world leaders busy for months!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Great game. No problems (unless you have a buggy computer). I don't even own an in-box graphics card and it runs fairly well. Fast, fun, great and all of the above.

Cons: Complicated, but that is sort of fun also.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Game

Pros: Easy understanding of the game, it didn't take me long ot learn how to play. Really interesting for this type of game

Cons: Can get kind of boring after playing an 8 hour game.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have more than the requirements if you want to play huge games. I played this on a year old dell and it ran slow once the games got really big

5 out of 5 eggsVery very fun

Pros: This game is some serious fun. It's crazily strategic, almost too addictive. Before this game, I hadn't really played any video/computer games for over a year. I got it for a gift, and it's got me hooked.

Cons: I've got all the patches and everything, but the program still crashes on me every now and then. It's all a bit buggy. Other than that, I think the AI could use some improvements.

Other Thoughts: This game really started stuttering on me once all the civilizations had really expanded in my game. I'd say you should have at least 1GB of ram to play this, although 512 does work, albeit irritatingly slowly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat game for any computer

Pros: Great Game. I can play on my laptop (centrino M 1gb ram) or i can put it on my bros desktop to (oced core 2 duo) and see great graphics. The Computers give you a run for your money (ai cheating) real sense of accomplishment to beat a high lvled cpu.

Cons: Must play with turn timer or the game will take forever...Especially if you are playing with 4+ people.

Other Thoughts: My old room mate made me buy this game back when it came out and i don't regret the choice. We wasted many hours playing it and i still do. Don't worry about getting the expansision pack (warlords) right away. Make sure to get a the patches even if you don't play online. The newer ones will turn it into a multithreaded application which helps you X2 and c2d users alot. As mentioned the videos for wonders and what not are highly compressed files so you will need dx9, dx8 will work with vids shot off, which honestly isn't much of a loss in the long run

4 out of 5 eggsCivilization IV

Pros: Robust; plentiful resources which have a huge impact on the game; several ways to increase happiness in cities and culture impact is interesting.
Very nice details like voice over quotes for Civ advances; cities look a little different from each other.

Cons: AI cheating is unreal especially at higher levels. If you dislike cheating you have to create a custom game and reload often.

Other Thoughts: According to hype you can win without war. I found this not to be the case.

5 out of 5 eggsBedt of the best

Pros: Definitly a step up from the other civ versions. Love the fact that you get to controll religions and governments like never before. Awesome graphics. New features make even old players like me fall in love with Civilizations agian.

Cons: The new interface is alittle confusing compared to the older versions. But the biggest con to this game is if really want to play on some of the higher setting it takes a very powerfull machine to run it.

Other Thoughts: I've been playing Civilization games scince I was 11 and this takes the cake, but if your used to playing mind shooter games then this gave will be boring at first but if you stick with it you'llloveit just like everyone else

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Game

Pros: Great graphics and addictive gameplay.

Cons: Very steep learning curve. I don't play many strategy games, so it took me a while to get used to the style of gameplay.

Other Thoughts: This was my very first strategy game. I will say it has far surpased my expectations. Anything that can pull my attention away from Battlefield 2 and COD2 deserves an honorable mention in my book!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Game

Pros: A great strategy game worthy of its predecessors. The game dynamics are fluid with excellent graphics. For those that love the earlier versions, this is definately worth the upgrade.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: At first the interface took some time to get used to it. After about 2 days I loved the flow of the game and the interface.
