The same format / layout as previous RPG Maker titles for the most part. RGSS3 is easier to use. (But less powerful than predecessors.) You can sell your games if you use your own or RTP resources. Cons: RGSS3 (Ruby Gaming Script) less powerful than predecessors. There were some things you could do in RMXP and RMVX that seems impossible in Ace VX. Layering seems weird compared to RM2003 / RMXP. Expensive. Other Thoughts: As a fan of RPG Maker, it's quite the powerful program. However, I don't agree with it's value. If you just want to make a few fun games for yourself and friends, I recommend the lite version, which is free. (But lacks script support and other often used features.) If you plan on making something epic, are a fan of making large projects that many people will see, or if you're a developer / programmer, this is for you. Sometimes I'll see other people complain about how this product "isn't as easy as it claims" and I'm going to tell you right now, they're full of it. You can pick up learning how to use this within 10 minutes if simply playing around with it. Everything is self-explanatory. It comes with a help file, which makes it even easier. To map things, you simple click on what you want, then click where you want it. How is that difficult? It's not. Anyone who complains about this being "difficult" didn't take the time to understand the 3 basic elements of it. Mapping, Events / Switches, and setting up the database. -Mapping is point and click. -Events are point and click. Inside them opens up 3 pages worth of clearly labeled commands all of which are self-explanatory. (IE. Show Message, Choose Switch, etc.) -Switches work in conjunction with switching the page of events, so the story can progress, or an action can be performed, etc. -Database has several pages clearly labeled with what they do. Actors are the heroes who can battle, animations are the animations that play when you cast a spell... Skills are the skills, items are the items, etc. How anyone is confused on this is beyond me.
