Climb aboard a two wheel rocket and race against the best Motorcycle Grand Prix riders the world has to offer. Moto GP 08 brings the most immersive motorcycle racing experience in a format accessible to novices as well as seasoned veterans and fans of motorcycle racing with a mix of arcade and simulation elements that combine for racing action as you like it.

Climb aboard 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP-class bikes as one of the series riders or, create your own rider and build him up from a raw rookie to a veteran racer as sign up with one of the officially licensed teams. Career mode covers 5 years of racing but players can jump into the action with Quick Race, take on mini games in Challenge mode, beat the clock in Time Trial or race a single season in Championship mode.

The pre-game tutorial will assess your skills and offer pointers as well as suggestions about the level of difficulty. Players can also choose to run in Arcade, Advanced or Simulation control mode for increasingly accurate handling. Use separate brake controls and judicious application of the throttle to powerslide around tight corners. Selectable weather effects and accurately rendered international tracks add to the realism along with authentic licensed bikes. Race on a rain-slicked Laguna Seca or under the sun at the new track at Indianapolis. Just as in real life, the race in Qatar is run at night. Online leaderboards and racing await with up to 12 players going head-to-head to see who will be crowned the champion of Moto GP.

3 out of 5 eggsCould be better

Pros: Good graphics, pretty streamlined performance, and a good selection of bikes and other things. That, with a very nice, low price.

Cons: Long load time, and there aren't a lot of settings that you can change when it comes to video and audio.

Other Thoughts: This game is built like most other race games, like Gran Turismo and Nascar. You just race; there's no story or anything

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: It's a great buy for only 4 dollars. The set up is easy, and the graphics are nice. Most importantly it is fun to play.

Cons: There was a conflict with magic jack telephone software. I had to move the phone to another computer.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: Good graphics and that's it.

Cons: Took me about a week to figure out that it has a compatibility issue with joysticks. Unplugged the joystick and it played, but experience is pointless. Why design a game for a PC that doesn't work with a joystick. MotoGP using the keyboard is worst than trying MS Flight Simulator with a keyboard.

Other Thoughts: People have been complaining about the joystick issues as far back as Nov '08. Capcom should have come out with a patch by now to support joysticks, but haven't. Poor support and now I understand why it only cost $8. Ridiculous.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent game

Pros: What can you say about a game that costs 8 bucks? Surprisingly this is actually a rather decent game. Graphics are smooth and nicely done, and with anything from an 8800 on up you can crank all the detail up. The game was built around the Geforce 7, 8, & 9 Series cards. So as you would expect it runs smoothly on Geforce cards. Running it on 2 separate PC's, one with an 8800GTS 640mb, and the other with a 8500GT 512mb, and both run smooth.

Cons: None really. I wouldn't consider this a con, but the handling can be extremely touchy. Arcade mode handling is cake, but anything above that, yowza. Running using Advanced or Simulation mode handling, the rear wheel steps out very badly. If course more so on Simulation than on Advanced. If you even try to get on the throttle before you are exiting the corner, it will step out on you. Arcade mode handling is cake, Advanced and Simulation will take A LOT of practice to be competitive. I only wish they would allow you to actually purchase parts, such as they do in games like Need 4 Speed Underground and such, rather than the way they do it in this game. You earn points for winning, and can then distribute the points to improve acceleration, braking, top speed, and traction. Would be 5 starts if you could purchase separate exhaustm tires and compounds, rims, paint schemes, etc.

Other Thoughts: Not sure what people's complaints are with graphics or gameplay. At the start of each race you are taken on a ride around the track, and you can also practice the track before qualifying. For a game that costs $8, I can't complain. It still sells for $36 on Capcoms site. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys moto sims. Smooth graphics, nice detail, very good bike models/detailing, more than worth 8 bucks. Recommended.

1 out of 5 eggsSimply awful

Pros: It's a NEW motorcycle roadracing game for the PC by the same developer that produced Superbike 2001.

Cons: This game is simply awful. I have been playing Superbike 2001 ever since it was released (same developer, "Milestone", though it's hard to believe) and expected to see much of the same components in MotoGP 08. I was sorely mistaken.

Most important is the fact that there is NO PRACTICE MODE and NO TUTORIAL. None. Never played a motorcycle PC game ? Never been on a particular track ? Don't know what to expect ? Too bad. It's time to start racing. Good luck getting around the first turn. It took me at least 2 months with Superbike 2001 to become competitive and I was in training mode the whole time. Oh what fun it is to try to get experience while being lapped again and again. Start a race - crash on the first turn - restart - crash - over and over and over. What fun. A motorcycle racing game is NOT a car racing game - they are MUCH harder, but this is ridiculous.

Another thing - your perspective shifts so completely when you go into a turn it's hard to see anything. Skip this !

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't want this game if it were free - let alone pay for it. If you like frustration then buy a hammer and beat your head with it. It'll be more fun than this stupid game.

Please - Milestone - bring back your old managers and developers so those of us who love motorcycle roadracing can have a decent game. And fire all these console people you seem to have hired.

5 out of 5 eggsFabulous game

Pros: I love it.
Great graphics on my Foxconn A7DA-S , 4GB RAM and 3870 Vid card. I'm running everything maxed out including AA and still getting 45+ fps. You get to ride on 18 circuits and you can either compete as one of the actual riders or create your own team and bike in Career mode.
The Playback feature has so many options that I wind up spending as much time there as I do racing. You can use it to see each rider's viewpoint, zoom, speed up, or take screen shots that look as good as the real thing.
LOL. Yes I like it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I use a Saitek P880 game pad.
I set the Right shoulder trigger for front brake, Left trigger for rear brake, Right joystick for throttle, Left joystick to steer and right side keys for things like camera angle and pause.
Knowing what I know now I'd buy it if it cost twice as much.
