5 out of 5 eggsWorth every penny!

Pros: If you fell in love with CivDOS, then you probably don't need any reason to buy this game. The reason for the buy is simply because I spent hours and hours playing this game that I borrowed from a friend of mine. This is probably the most enjoyable turn-based strategy game still in year 2008!

Cons: None really. For $27.99, you really can't complain.

5 out of 5 eggsJust plain awesome

Pros: CIV 4 alone for this price is great. Cool holder for it all.

Cons: Lacks "Beyond the Sword". CIV 4 is on 2 CDs and not a DVD.

Other Thoughts: The card game seems pretty weak but I haven't tried it.

4 out of 5 eggsYay Civ the TCG

Pros: Civ the TCG, all the civ games but the civ IV expansions in a nice little box. Good price wahahaha $24.

Cons: CD checks, ouch. Main reason I shop at Direct2Drive or Steam for games now is because no CD Checks. I installed both expansions from Direct2Drive, as long as I launch through the expansion no check needed woot.

Other Thoughts: I am a civ fan so getting all the extra stuff was the best part.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat games

Pros: Civs I, II, III, and IV!

Cons: I love Civ but it really bites that these games include CD-checks. Not to mention the fact that the games come on CD's and not DVD's... I guess Sid is still in 1999. I got this on an email promotion and of course it is already less now than it was with the promo code then.

Other Thoughts: I bought these after having played them through less than legal means and I am happy with my purchase but CD checks really really blow. I'd give this 5 stars easily otherwise.

5 out of 5 eggs:)

Pros: I would probably buy anything that has the words Civilization and "Sid Meier" on the cover, so I am very likely biased...
Still, I waited on the Chronicles to be way discounted before making the move. A few days ago Newegg had an email promotion with a nice coupon off the price, which made this very attractive. I wanted to try the board game and this was the perfect opportunity. The game is nice, it's a miniature version of the series, with land, resources, population, buildings, wonders and military just as you would expect, with enough entertainment for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. The game play is fun, not too complex, but with enough decisions to make you want to play one more turn... :)

Cons: Well, you get all the Civs written so far without the last two expansion packs for Civ IV. This is a bit dissapointing. Think about it, you are buying this package for the board game, the booklet and the DVD as you probably already own the rest. These together do not add up to justify the full price. At least not for me.

Other Thoughts: After playing countless hours of Civ IV BTS, going back to Civ I is amazing. Its concept is entertaining without the flash and complexity of the last generation games. It's back to 2D and silly sounds. (BTY, if you've played the actual Civ I, you will miss the original sounds, as this version changed/improved the graphics and sounds from the originals). No matter, the game is as addictive as it was 17 years ago... :) Civ rules, as does NewEgg.
