iolo System Mechanic - Unlimited PCs (install it on all your home PCs)

Pros: Works well but it'is now nagware.

Cons: I opened a support ticket with Iolo about the new pop up windows in version 11.7. I told them I want to turn it off or uninstall System Mechanic and get a refund for the unused time. They told me it can not be turned off and that a refund was not possible since I was past the 30 day purchase date. I've been using System Mechanic for more than three years now and prepaid for more than a year in advance. I find their response terrible. They add nagware to the product and I have no recourse as a paying customer.

Other Thoughts: If the nagware is not removed in the next update I'll be going back to TuneUp Utilities!

Pros: Used to be a great product before they made it nagware in version 11.7

Cons: During pass two years, I had 4-5 rebates with iolo, two of them had problems. for example, for this time they claimed missing UPC situation, even though I did send the original upc, but ok, I had photocopy as proof, and they asked me to send the photocopy via mail so I did, then few weeks later, they told me that it must be "original" , so they can not grant the rebate!! what a scam!! and even wasted me another stamp!!

Other Thoughts: Newegg is great, I reported this situation to newegg, and they generously granted me a gift card as refund. Good act, newegg!! thanks!!

Pros: Ease of use with no PC performance degradation

Other Thoughts: I'm normally reluctant to install software that could potentially use resources on my PC. The obvious result is usually a compromise in performance and as a gaming enthusiast that would be unacceptable. With System Mechanic it does what it sets out to do and with no impact in performance. In fact, my boot times are faster, my bandwidth is optimal during online gaming and my overall end user experience of my PC is more enjoyable across the board. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to improve the performance of their existing laptop or PC or to maximize the performance of any laptop or PC out of the box.

Pros: Price--covers all PC's in household.

Cons: Does not work for me!. Installed on three PC's. One desktop runs better.
BUT--another desktop, with an SSD as theC drive has had nothing but problems (won't always boot properly, spontaneously re-boots), and lately files disappear. A licensed piece of software that has run well for months now loads with a message that the trial period is over and I need to enter my license info!!! in addition, my notebook is now much slower than before and takes much longer to boot.
Loading this product is like playing Russian roulette. Last Iolo product I will ever buy.

Pros: Low cost and unlimited license
Interface was fairly simple

Cons: Cheap
This made two computers start blue screening randomly after registry cleaner.

Other Thoughts: I will not recommend people to use this.

Pros: The software was free. (Rebate)

Cons: Installed 3 times over the period of 1 month. Computer crashed each time. I uninstalled it put it in the trash.

Pros: Waste of money

Cons: First, it will not defrag a SSD.

Second, I had a print spooler registry issue I was hoping System Mechanic would fix and it didn’t help.

Third, customer service is no help. I didn’t ask for a return but asked them to transfer my one year subscription to one of their long time customers and they wouldn’t do it. The software is no good to me.

Pros: user friendly

Cons: out of date with SSD drives

cleans out important items which end up crippling your system or crippling a program that cannot be uninstalled.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because it was a rebated item that brought the price to 0, I still don't have my rebate and it crippled my system on several occasions, including not allowing me to uninstall my Nvidia drivers due to overzealous file deletion on the part of the software.

Pros: • All in 1 Tool
• Tons of Features
• Install on Multiple Computers
• Background Updates for Drivers and other Stuff

Cons: • 1 Year License, Aside from no Updates will it Keep Working?
• Very Much a Memory Hog, Especially When Getting Started

Other Thoughts: Lots of great tools, much better than windows "system tools" and just as good as any other paid for program that I've used. Plus, the fact that I can install it on all of my many household computers (mine, wife's, two sons, + (2) laptops) makes this a no brainer for me, even my kid can keep his computer running smoothly with little to no knowledge of computer systems.
