iolo System Mechanic Premium - Unlimited PCs (install it on all your home PCs)

Pros: I use to like this soft ware.But they also stopped my after 6 month 5 years back.(Now they want your bank card befor installing)

Cons: they got $-- , now I'm give them $-- more.can't return open box.

Other Thoughts: I don't feel very smart.

Pros: Purchased on 11/24/2012 from New Egg. Received it quickly as usual

Cons: Again purchased on 11/24/2012 -- today is 06/08/2013 - Barely 6 months later, and my license is no longer accepted, the program stopped working and Iolo has lost my account information.

Perhaps they assume customers are unable to read?

Other Thoughts: You do not treat customers in this manner. They behave like Serif software does about customer complaints, perhaps that is why Serif is always trying to get me to buy it.

Not satisfied at all --- When you sell something with a 1 year license and then shut them off at 6 months you are not conducting business properly, (Newegg won't let me use the appropriate wording here -- suffice it to say I'm quite angry!).

The software quit working suddenly, and when I tried to log in for support, they have lost my registration information.

Not very professional behavior.

Pros: Easy to configure and manage PC!

Other Thoughts: Great if you want to keep your PC tuned to max performance and tech support is great too!

Pros: Works better than Norton Utilities, but that is a very very low standard of performance for computer maintenance!

Cons: This program comes with a set of other programs that it wants to install on your computer. One of them is their antivirus. After the computer scan it was directed (available options) not to interfere with my installed anti virus/firewall but System Mech. set a parameter in the computer to disable my anti-virus/firewall at boot up, each and every time. Somehow it over rides the Windows boot start up commands.

Other Thoughts: Instead of making a product that works well on its own, iOLO seems more intent on installing and then selling you its other software such as its anti-virus.

The program will not comply with the after scan options you select. It does its thing and you live with the consequence, like it or not.

Thankfully I have a full system back up for restoration.

Pros: In a nutshell, this is the most complete and capable utility of its type I have ever used - and I've used many dozens over the years. The utilities may be run individually or from a tightly integrated dashboard. Unlike other utilities, all the information is presented in clear, organized format with little need to link out to another site to look up explanations. Its analysis tool is thorough and I was EXTREMELY impressed in its ability to clearly explain the name, program association, and purpose for every program, DLL, and service. It also provides recommendations based on the larger community experience (e.g., 77% of users removed disbaled this service), estimates item's impact on overall system performance, etc. Recognizes SSDs vs HDDs, and adjusts its methodologies. Noticeably improved performance on two computers, identified and removed redundant toolbars, utils, etc. Incredible price after Newegg's rebate. And, of course, Newegg delivered it FAST - even over the holiday rush.

Cons: None yet. Installed on two (2) vastly different PCs (see below) and it worked great.

Other Thoughts: I used it on two (2) PCs so far and it was awesome; cleaned up MANY problems (and I use other systems utilities frequently).

(1) home-built i7-2600K PC overclocked, 265MB boot SSD, 3TB data drive, 16GB RAM, Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

(2) Old (but reliable!) Dell XPS 400 (Pentium D 3GHz), 4GB RAM, Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit

If you choose to let it optimize a HDD, it might take a long while. But the end result is good.

Product is described and sold as "iolo System Mechanic Premium - Unlimited PCs (install it on all your home PCs)". However, the packaging states "For up to 3 PCs" on front and back of package. I have sent email to iolo asking for clarification.

Media is a CD although the code with the Activation Label says System Mechanic Premium DVD. Just a bit confusing, perhaps.

Pros: None that I can think of.

Cons: I installed an earlier version of this software a few years back and it was a huge waste of money. Hogged resources, slowed my system down and continually hounded me to upgrade to a newer version even though when I bought this it was the only version available. I finally removed it and have been trying to warn people away from it since then. It will not do anything that you cannot do without it and it tries to do some things it should stay away from.

Other Thoughts: To summarize, these types of programs in general are a waste of money. Learn how to use the tools already available in Windows and don't try to find a "one size fits all" package to keep your system running smoothly. They aren't worth the headaches they cause.

Pros: Worked well enough on my Windows 7 PC
Has a lot of features- cleanup, scrubbing, and more
Price after rebate is certainly right

Cons: Tried loading on a brand new Windows 8 PC, got frequent compatibility error messages. Got it to finally scrub some files after lots of delays, reboots and one complete uninstall/install cycle

Other Thoughts: Beware if you have Windows 8- lots of issues

Pros: Nothing to say... Had good set of futures in the label and prduct DVD stickers however Full of Problems after installation in my laptop...

Cons: After install getting annoying error popups. Not sure and i called IOLO customer care and they are saying i need to correct my windows OS only then System Mechanic software will work. I need to be charged for fixing windows then IOLO customer care will fix the system mechanic problem. I am trying to return this software...

Pros: easy to run

Cons: when i got it home 2 weeks later they wanted me to upgrade for more money it was 10.0 ver to 11.5 ver called the persons dont speak english

Pros: Runs great, keeps my PC clean and organized. Never know that so many junk stuff fills in my hard disk. Do a full run monthly.

Cons: Cause slow start up because it checks the system almost every time you start your PC but I get used to it.

Other Thoughts: I bought this with a great deal rather than renewing my own copy that I have over a year. It would cost me four times more to renew so I bought this with a great rebate. iolo offers renewal discount to standard version but not for the others. If they were, I would have renewed a month ago but waited for a deal.
