McAfee Antivirus Plus 2012 - 1 User

Pros: McAfee employs people due to misinformed people buying this :P

Cons: Never installed it windows defender makes this and any other protection very unnecessary. but if you don't think windows defender alone is good enough get malewarebytes and use that and windows defender. which is still unnecessary

Pros: Came free with Win 7, scans for viruses, I think...

Cons: Junkware. Resource hog, slows down my computer, almost locks it up when it's running a scan. The program freezes a lot, and runs incredibly slow. It's also near impossible trying to navigate the program to find anything.

Other Thoughts: I was using Symantec Corporate Edition and Symantec Endpoint before this. I got those free from my college, but when I got this free with Win 7 for my new build, I decided to give it a try. Yeah, that was a mistake. Going to try Eset next, I've heard good things.

Go with something, ANYTHING else. I am not even going to take a chance on the 2013 version. Not worth it. Beware the free bundled junk.

Pros: Was free (in a bundle)

Cons: The software is garbage. McAfee is a really awful piece of software I wind up having to support on a regular basis, and most of the time I have to just remove it because it costs to much to buy a renewal. Just go with Microsoft Security Essentials, it's free and it gets the job done.

Other Thoughts: Just throw it out if you got it as a free combo item.

Pros: It was free.

Cons: Resource hog, doesn't really do that good of a job finding threats.

Other Thoughts: I only received this because it was included free with a copy of windows I purchased. There are much better alternatives.

Pros: No one should ever use this anti virus, ever, under any circumstance, except to benchmark how much slower it will make your system

Cons: slows down your system with a set of processes so bloated, no virus will ever hamper your computer more than this antivirus. I believe that says it all. just use common sense when going to websites.

Other Thoughts: thinking an antivirus will protect you in any meaningful way is like living 24/7 inside full football helmet/gear/padding.

Pros: Free, Stops some mild threats, one of the first antivirus

Cons: Slow to react to threats, Doesn't detect stealthier threats, Can't stop some basic threats, Low tech support

Other Thoughts: It's a bundled item, that means its free. You get what you pay for, I won't ever use this. I use COMODO free antivirus on windows 7 and panda free antivirus on windows 8. Sorry, but McAfee is junk. Always has been and always will be.

Cons: It's not perfect

Other Thoughts: I installed this on my girlfriends machine to protect her from herself in addition to a couple other programs. Got it for free, so no complaints here.

Pros: Software came free with purchase of Windows 7 Professional... Well, I don't know if that is a plus or not?

Cons: I thought about purchasing Win 7 from another vendor just so I wouldn't catch cooties when I had to remove McAfee from my shipment. There was no way for me to remove it from my shopping cart. This computer was for a customer, I get paid to remove viruses/spyware and I couldn't (with clear conscious) install this software on their machine.

Other Thoughts: Please don't force me to take software that I don't want..... Please?

Pros: It came free as a promotional product with another item I bought.

Cons: Antivirus software hogs mem and cpu usage and subscription services for these things arent cheap. Ive had AVG free for 6 or 7 years now and have NEVER had a problem it couldnt handle. In my opinion, its not worth sacrificing performance for a little added security. AVG Free does the job. Dont get caught up with Nortan or McAfee.

Pros: Protects against some viruses.

Cons: Won't activate out the box. No customer support numbers anywhere. Wants me to install an email client on, so it can contact customer support. I don't have email on it, because I already have several other computer for that at my desk.

Its annoying every step of the way. Don't care about the money so much, its a waste of time.

Other Thoughts: Keycode doesn't work out of the box. Its one week old.
