- Pros: Works Great, If you people would look at the specs it says nothing about service pak 3 .You are just misinformed READ the Specs. You have only yourselvs to blame. Have used TrendMicro for years and never, ever had a problem. Would recomend this to anyone who wants antvirus to run quietly in the background without those very very bothersome pop-ups. If fact I have installed this product on all of the boxes that I build. Running Windows XP Pro Service pak 2. Vista still has issues
- Cons: none at all
Be really careful
- Pros: Very few, really. Trend used to make a good product, but the 2009 version is deadly (see below). Been a customer for years, am now firing Trend as my vendor.
- Cons: Buggy. I updated my Win XP SP3 system, and it locked my system up so severely that after a few reboots, it took out my OS. Not a little but alot. I wasn't even able to use my original CD to repair the damage or reinstall - I had to buy a new HD and rebuild my entire system. Tried 2009 again on a clean install, and even with nothing on the system except Windows XP SP3 it started crashing again. Went back to 2007 version (which has had problems with recent updates), and am looking for an alternative
- Other Thoughts: I have used Trend since 2000/2001, I think, in any case the first PC-Cillin software. This is by far the WORST experience I've experienced with AV software. They tried to explain it away as good for catching malware, without realizing that malware is irrelevant if the computer is completely wiped by the AV software.
Don't waste your money, unless you like reloading software. BACK IT UP FIRST.
Not as bad as others are saying
- Pros: Installs easily, simple interface.
- Cons: It is a bit "heavy", but not any worse than some other popular antivirus/security applications.
Regular price is too high for a basic product (this only features antivirus and antispyware).
- Other Thoughts: Get an extra month on your subscription by installing as a trial first, then switch to the retail key as the trial expires.
One of the largest PC makers bundles Trend Micro products as an option, which they wouldn't do if the products didn't work well (as the alternative would be an increase in profit-sucking support incidents).
