I'll probably buy it
This review is from: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus - 30 Days Trial Version
Pros: I had a failure in my UPS during a storm and something on my HDD got corrupted where I cannot reinstall Microsoft Security Essentials. It's bizarre, but until I'm ready to reinstall Windows 7 on a new SSD (which I already have in hand) I had to have some kind of protection. I saw this available for a trial (actually it was a 60 day) and decided to give it a shot. It installs with no issues and has a very nice feature set that'll take care of those nastys that it designed to do. I really like the way that it warns you of malware sites and then gives you the option of backing away from the page or to press on at your peril. I did notice that it's pretty strict on malware ident, because it flagged a couple sites that I've used for years with no issues and I had to tell it to ignore the "threat" and go to the page. All in all this seems pretty good to me. Over the years I've used a bunch of different antivirus/malware products. This one generally (see the cons section) does the job and does it well.
Cons: The only things that I really notice are that (1) When it's updating it's definitions or the program itself, It will slow you down (maybe @ 30%) as you try to browse. Now that being said, where I live, a 3 meg DSL connection is the best I can get and usually there are 2 computers running at the same time. And (2) is that when you click on a link or open a browser window there's a brief, but detectible pause as the scanner evaluates any threat on the page you're going to. I didn't notice this with the most recent AV/MW I was using but, by the same token I don't think it offered the level of protection that Webroot does.
Other Thoughts: I'm most likely going to purchase this once the trial expires to use at least until I reinstall my OS. Even with the few warts I noted, I still like this better than many others I've used over the last 20+ years
