5 out of 5 eggsBest of the bunch IMHO

Pros: I have been using this and other security products by Norton, McAfee, AVG, Trend Micro, etc. When a virus spread through different PC's Kaspersky was the only one to catch it with all of them updated. It is why we switch to Kaspersky Internet Security. It still gives less false positives and catches more viruses then others - yet seems not to screw with your Windows installation, and doesn't have a huge impact on resources. Considering their rebate's - you can't beat this product.

Cons: Their rebates take months to get. Otherwise - its a great product. I do wish they would redesign the interface a bit. I am not saying its bad - but its not great for a person who is not tech savy trying to make changes, for example, to let remote desktop work. The 2011 version is better at this - but they could make it easier for the lazy person. Unlazy people will do a search on how to do these things on the Internet and the information will be available.

Their forums are generally good and they have personnel there to respond to your needs - however - any other type of support on their website is horrible. This is the only real problem with their product (and I say other Internet Security Products). Website support is made hard to find - so that you have to try to solve the problems yourself.
For example tracking down your serial number so you can install again can be impossible, as even though you register - they dont keep track of it to gie you that information back.

Other Thoughts: If Kaspersky redid their customer support site and website - along with making customer support more reachable - then they would be unstoppable. Yet unfortunately as Microsoft set the example, getting support from any software company can be a nightmare because they force you to 1) Find the hidden link to get help 2) fill out ungodly amounts of information before being able to get help 3) force you to choose 1000 options before finally having to pick 'other' because your question doesn't fit 4) they respond with canned responses rather than reading your response and trying to help you. The above is with most support sites on the Internet today - Kaspersky happens to be one of them. Newegg is less so but they don't all the time read your trouble ticket before they throw a canned response you way. Retail mega sites such a the big A, are much better - and not too hard to get help from, but in general software companies suck at tech support and that needs to change.

5 out of 5 eggsKASPERSKY lab Anti-Virus 2011 1U

Pros: I bought this product because there were some issues with AVG 2011. Using the 2010 AVG I was unable to remove some spyware, Kaspersky 2011 handled them with no problem, my PC is now clean. Very impressed. The Shell Shocker price of $ 9.99 made this a no brainer.

Cons: The only con is that I did not get one for each computer...only one license per box. But for the price, I cannot complain.

Other Thoughts: Kaspersky 2011 is far superior to Norton and McAfee in my experience. And for the price, I will be getting more next time they are Shell Shockers.

5 out of 5 eggsvery good protection

Pros: Works great....not intrusive at all. Uses very little memory and runs in background slowly but steadily scanning computer. I recommend to all my customers. In fact about the only customers without viruses are the ones that already have kaspersky installed.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsGreat anti-virus

Pros: Plain and simple, this is the best anti-virus on the market. If you don't believe me, read reviews in numerous PC magazines. Extremely thorough, if this one doesn't catch the virus, nothing else will. What I also like about it is that if there's a new malware out, these guys are the first with a counter measure within hours if not minutes. They actually have an in-house team of hackers and virus writers that do nothing but try to come up with nasty stuff, so that it can be dealt with in the future. Very pro-active.

Cons: Can be intrusive if you choose that option. But you can switch to a lighter setting. Hard on older computers (single-core), slows everything down. The 2011 version though has a NEW search engine that is very fast and easier on the resources.

5 out of 5 eggsKaspersky Affective

Pros: Kaspersky nailed pre-existing rootkits and trojans (including RATS) during installation that other anti-virus programs missed or were disabled by. An initial FULL scan only took 10 minutes. The computer shut down and restarted swiftly after installation and virus quaranteens. Previously used antivirus programs created lengthy start-up and shut-down times. As a Network Administrator, I've used several.

Cons: None so far. If any are found, they will have to be real "show-stoppers" to put me off this program after it resuscitated a computer impossible to do much with do to viruses.

Other Thoughts: If you suspect you have a virus that your anti-virus program isn't eradicating, ditch it and get Kaspersky. And get it from NewEgg. I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere.

1 out of 5 eggsbad

Pros: Highly intrusive. Prevents not only viruses, but anything and everything that runs javascript or tcpip.

Cons: Highly intrusive. Prevents not only viruses, but anything and everything that runs javascript or tcpip. Will significantly bog down an older machine to the point of uselessness.

Other Thoughts: The duality of this AVAS begs you to just uninstall it, but even that will be a chore. You're better off running Malwarebytes, in almost every scenario. Kapersky needs to stick to developing its rootkit remover (which is amazing).
