5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: I have never had any issues with it, installation is easy, renewal is easy and so far is has not let me down. My multiple computers that go through multiple uses have not had any viruses and that is exactly what one should expect. It is updated continuously and very well maintained.

Cons: None, you get what you pay, in this case you can usually get this very cheap.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome :)

Pros: 1. It was 100% free after the rebate.
2. Free shipping
3. Its a well known company.

Cons: None that I can think of

Other Thoughts: Not the best review but this is how I work with the anti-virus software being sold on Newegg and TigrDrect (can't use actual spelling because of stupid filter) nowadays.

Usually, you can get lucky every few weeks and find an anti-virus program that has a rebate for the entire price you paid and has free shipping. So I usually buy them and then just put them up till my other anti-virus expires. This way I get basically free protection for years and years while still getting to own the entire full anit-virus suite. I only buy the name brand guys though like AVG, BitDefender, Avast, ect. When the current "free subscription" expires I just toss it and then install the new anti-virus and keep on truckin :)

I think right now as it is I have around almost 15 years of free anti-virus as long as those companies stay in business :D

So ya, you have to pay upfront for the initial cost which can be anywhere between $30-80 but the rebate you receive in 4-8 weeks obviously makes up for it as you get all your money back plus the free shipping. :)

3 out of 5 eggsUsed to be good software

Pros: rebate makes it cheap.

Cons: Doesn't stop lots of malware infections.

Other Thoughts: I used Kaspersky for years with great success. But the 2013 version did not stop many serious malware browser redirect infections. I am to the point now that I had to add Malwarebytes and some others to identify and delete malware because Kaspersky does not stop them reliably, Very disappointed in the latest Kaspersky. I had to go through a long and painful process to fix my computer from the infections Kaspersky allowed. There are better choices for antivirus. The GUI is not very user friendly and is difficult to navigate to adjust settings.

5 out of 5 eggsInvoice

Pros: Yes, you did get an invoice when you ordered it from newegg. Either print the email with subject " - invoice" or log into your account on newegg and print the order summary from your account. Any document with the order date and price on it will work fine.

Cons: People who don't know what they're doing write reviews that don't make any sense.

1 out of 5 eggsinvoice

Pros: I did not receive an invoice for my purchase. I cannot
receive my rebate without the invoice as prove of purchase.

Cons: I did not receive an invoice with the delivery of the purchased product.
I cannot receive the rebate promised without prove of purchase.

2 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with IE10

Pros: Seems to work well, as long as you are running Internet Explorer 9 or lower.
Light use of system resources.
Nags me a lot less than Bitdefender (so far, anyways).

Cons: According to Kaspersky tech support forums, KAV 2013 is NOT compatible with Internet Explorer 10. Of course, you would never know this until you have problems.

When running KAV with IE10 installed on the same system, I would get frequent notifications that KAV needed to shut down. This would leave my computer unprotected, often times without my knowledge until minutes or hours later. Completely unacceptable. Then, I come to find out their solution? Uninstall MSIE10. So you can't run the most secure, most updated web browser from Microsoft. I grudgingly rolled back to IE9 (I primarily use Firefox & Chrome anyways) and what do you know? KAV stopped crashing.

Other Thoughts: It is completely unacceptable for a top-tier AV program (as rated by AV Comparatives websites, etc) to be incompatible with the most secure version of Microsoft Internet Explorer.

2 out of 5 eggsNot so good software

Pros: Free after rebate.

Cons: Doesn't stop some viruses.

Other Thoughts: I used to be a Kaspersky fan and have KIS loaded on my computer presently but recently I've gotten several malware infections that this software didn't stop. I did a scan with Malware bytes and had 7 different infections and Kaspersky didn't stop any of them. Most were of the browser redirect variety like the rootkit. I scanned my computer several times and still it didn't show anything wrong yet my browser was out of control. Finally got another free third party software that got rid of the infection. Kaspersky is no longer reliable in my opinion.

2 out of 5 eggsSupport is VERY POOR

Pros: Best most aggressive AV currently available, period.

Cons: Tech support is email only and is mosly a regurge of self help already on the website. I am an IT consultant and do everything from building PC's to Server administration. After spending 3 hours trying to remove Kaspersky or upgrade the 2012 version on Dell XPS w/core i7, I finally gave up and attempted to contact support- got a auto reply asking for info I already sent. Replied and re-sent the sysinfo file. 5 days later still no response! No Phone available. No Chat available. Installed Norton on this PC.

Other Thoughts: I am still trying to figure out how a major player in AV can exist w/o having on-demand live support. If you have any issues with the product just by something else. If it works it is good.

1 out of 5 eggsRebate ripoff

Pros: I use Kaspersy and have, for some time, recommended it to customers even though Bitdefender and Norton perform just as well.

Cons: After getting ripped off on the rebate, it took ten weeks to mail us a notice that something from the application was missing and asked us to resubmit our photocopies, All this time the rebate website said the rebate was in process. I now regard Kaspersky with contempt. . This is stupid business on their part.

Other Thoughts: I am staying away from future Kaspersky purcheses and removing them from our list of recommended antivirus programs.
