KASPERSKY lab Anti-Virus 2013 - 1 PC - OEM

Pros: has worked like it supposed to, am very happy with program.

Cons: none so far

Pros: Easy install
My customer's like the widget (I hate it)
Offers good protection when behind a good firewall

Cons: No firewall
Requires an e-mail address to install properly.
UI is CPU heavy (My customer has the slowest Atom on the market)

Other Thoughts: Received this free with purchase of Office 2010, my customer had Microsoft Security Essentials and this was a step up from that.

Pros: Support is approachable, price, name brand

Cons: Issues with various software

Other Thoughts: I do AV and anti-spyware everyday for a living and finding the perfect AV and AS is a pipe dream

Pros: I've been using Kaspersky since 2008. It's always been easy on my system resources and never lagged any of my games. Even when I don't have the gaming mod on it still allows me to play any game without disturbance. It's very good at updating in the background and when it does I don't notice it. This is because Kaspersky updates often so it does not have to download huge databases with new threats. I am very happy with this product.

Cons: Not the cheapest option, but you get what you pay for.

Pros: Protection ranked very high on several benchmarks.

Cons: It is only for 1 computer. It is only good for 1 year. After the year is up, then you have to renew and pay more. Nothing in the details or comments mentioned that the software was only good for a year without additional fees. I took 2 eggs off for this as you would think that would be something that should have been mentioned!

Other Thoughts: To buy a license renewal it is $34.95 per year (basic), $39.95 per year (premium) or $49.95 per year (total). They give a discount if you buy 2 or 3 years instead of one. Prices subject to change of course. I thought 3 eggs was fair as the software does work well, but the advertisement did not mention it was only for a year of protection.

Pros: Not a one. Got it for free with a motherboard purchase and that was too much

Cons: Would not stay registered no matter what I did. Went to their forums for help and email tech support but was only told that OEM versions were for computers built by end users. What? That amoung other things that were posted in their forums to my request made me uninstall the software, toss it in a drawer and began using MSE, haven't looked back and don't intend on ever considering Kaspersky again.

Other Thoughts: Either bad programming or paranoia on vendors part make this product unusable. Oh yeah just to make it clear. I do know what I'm doing. I work in a comp repair shop and I'm CompTIA A+ certified so reasonably sure I did what was needed to get this up and running but never could get it registered, asked me each and everytime I booted up the comp.

Pros: I've been a happy customer for the last few years. Worked well in the past.

Cons: I've always been happy with Kaspersky in the past and previous versions installed, ran, and protected well but this one has been a nightmare. Crashed on installation the first time. It will not let me enter the settings to tweak things. Half the of the buttons in the program don't work. It's VERY buggy. Maybe updates will correct it down the road but I'd definitely stay away until then. I'm near the point of just scrapping it. They dropped the ball this year.

Pros: Comprehensive, effective on individual PC

Cons: Created conflicts with homegroup and wireless networking. I wound up uninstalling.

Pros: Works like how its suppose to. Doesn't hog up system resources like some other brands/

Cons: none yet.

Other Thoughts: Kapersky for me is a well known brand so I trust it.

Pros: I came quickly and was free.

Cons: Was unable to get it activated, continually told me was not activated after inputting the key numerous times. Used Kaspersky forums to try and get it resolved and was told "Maybe the OEM version won't work on a new build" Ahh that's bull, I'm a CompTIA A+ tech and if that's true then only HP, Dell and the like would be able to impliment this product. It felt like I was being accused of getting the software in an illegal manner.

Other Thoughts: This was no deal at all, I have uninstalled it and shipped it back to Kaspersky so they'll be able to sleep at night knowing I did not pirate their software and it was a promo offered with the motherboard I purchased.
