Customer Support A+
- Pros: Great customer service. I searched the forums and worked with customer support directly. I was impressed at how fast they resolved my issue. The software has a good interface, and it is easy to use. I have not made use of the online storage yet, but it is nice to have it available.
- Cons: No Windows 7 support for NovaBackup 10 as of this post.
- Other Thoughts: NovaBackup 11 is Win 7 capable, and it looks great. It does cost a bit more than this version, but if you are running Win 7, you should check it out.
Needs Serious Change
- Pros: I finally got it to work after a fashion.
- Cons: The instruction sheet tells you to look for a file that is NOT on the CD. Once you do figure out how to get it installed the actual operation is not at all clear. There is no way of knowing where you might find a particular file that you need to recover. If you want to restore ALL of your data at once then it is OK. I could not find a way to set it to do instant backup. It would be simpler and easier to just remember to make copies of what I have worked on before I shut down.
Good, but not great
- Pros: Easy to install. Nice interface. Scheduled backups. Allows for incremental, differential backups.
- Cons: Had problems restoring my backed up files. Restoring file permissions doesn't work. Less than perfect support. Knowledge base support on website makes it difficult to find the solution you are looking for.
- Other Thoughts: Make sure you uncheck the "Restore ACL file permissions" box in the restore settings or your restored files won't work. It took days before I was able to restore and access all 60GB of my backed up files. Don't use the restore wizard. Will try using "Copy" feature instead of "Backup" next time to see if I have better luck. Make sure you download and install the latest version from the Novastor website. ALWAYS test your backups to make sure the restored files work.
