5 out of 5 eggsworks well, small foot print

Pros: seems to use 0% of my cpu. on my old system (6years old, built on a budget) I certainly noticed increased boot time an over overall performance decrease. On the new one I build my moms (AMD A8-3850 Llano 2.9GHz) I can barley tell the difference (she cant). My my new system I don't even notice it. uses 0% of my CPU. Have had this block web intrusions from web pages, missed by Microsoft Antivirus (is what pushed me to purchase this anyway).

Cons: Software may be too cautious. This program seems to intentionally target files that, well lets say files that extend demo periods of other software. The File insite can be a little bit of a pain. It will on occasions remove software, based on the fact that nobody else has it, and it has not build up "trust" with Norton. This is not terribly hard to work around however if you know what you are doing, and if you don't you should probably NOT install software that has not yet been trusted. Also, for some reason this renews at a ridiculously high price. I originally purchased two keys for this at a discount after I tested the public beta. It was set to auto renew, and fortunately I received an email notifying me that it was about to charge me $49 each, for both keys. Equally fortunate, was that new egg was selling a 3 user version, at a promotional $49 (I THINK the normal is $59). Now the one I installed for my folks and mine are half off, and I've got a spare to give to family.

Other Thoughts: I find it interesting that DonB in Sparks stated that it was using 13% of his I7-2600k, and yet it uses 0% of my 2700k. These are really the same CPU, mine is just factory tuned at 3.5GHz, and his at 3.4. Only reason I got the 2700k instead of the 2600k was due to current promotional, they were only 10$ apart. He also indicated that it did not act up until the 3week trial ended, and he entered the key. This really make no sense. Symantec has better things to do then booby trap their software, so that it runs great until you pay for it. One of the following things is likely happening there...
1) Something else occurring that is really responsible for this. Perhaps something out of norm he did when registering it, perhaps a bad OS install. Or even a pre-existing infection that wasn't found till he registered, and the "3 week trial" was really running it w/o registration or updates.

2) user is unhappy about something else, or is promoting something else, in other words...FOS.

1 out of 5 eggsWould not uninstall Internet security 2011

Pros: Is the software that it claims to be

Cons: Bear of an install process.
Symantec uninstaller wouldnt work.

Other Thoughts: i'm a mac user, so i dont have to deal w/ AV, but i have the dubious distinction of being the "family tech support" guy for my parents and in-laws.

Bottom line is Symantec is making it very, very difficult for people to not renew through the software. On two Windows 7 machines, this install software would not remove Norton Internet Security 2011.

Symantic software removal tool was equally powerless, which made the overall install a real pain in the backside

5 out of 5 eggsgreat product, others are Noobs

Pros: great value, great support, great tack record. very little imprint on PC resources. Symantec has free 24/7 chat support and paid phone support. NEWEGG lets PC Noobs post stupid reviews on there website. This just shows how honest Newegg is in reviews from customers.

Cons: more: PROS's - Symantec has the fastest and easiest contact for support. I manage 100's of PC's in dozens of office locations and in peoples homes. Only infections/issues I ever see is when a user allows an expection and ignore NAV's warning. There are log reports in NAV and 100% of the time I seen it to be the users fault. Also, Symantec does have issues when people use pirated version of Microsoft products. Solution BUY the OS's and pay for NORTON.

Other Thoughts: As for uninstalling NORTON products. Just download the unistaller. RUN it. Only leaves 3 DLL's behind. Just delete them in Regedit.exe. I have NAV12 installed on XP, VISTA, & WIN7 (32 & 64 bit PC's) The resource used is minimal compared to any other product I end up removing on someone's else PC. If you install it and your PC starts acting up. It's because it's infected with something already.

best: PC solution: reformat PC, install fresh OS's, before updates to OS or anyother software gets installed install Norton. Then do PC & OS updates. You will never have issue again with Norton or it slowing down your PC. READ the warning before excuting programs or emails that Norton flashes up.

4 out of 5 eggsnot let down yet.

Pros: very light weight. didn't notice any impact on resources after installing on two laptops and one desk top.
been using a long time and just upgraded to 2012
it's not perfect but it does do very well for me.
bottom line is I haven't had any infectons in a long time !

Cons: none for me at all.
I'm not a big fan of 360 it kinda does take over the entire system, making certain firewall, network, registry, ect. changes hard to deal with at times.

Other Thoughts: I work on computers at work and on many outside of work and routinely install the trial on other peoples computers to clean up what other AV programs miss, if it's not to far gone to allow installing anything.
I have never had any trouble uninstalling if needed.
make up your own mind with the trial if in doubt.

We use another Big name AV program at work (corporate approved) not much better than the free ones.

Beats the tar(tar=not flagged) out of any free AV program, trust me on this.

No AV program alone is fool proof. but for me this is a must have.

5 out of 5 eggsDo your own research

Pros: More definitions than almost all other antivirus/spyware product out there = more intrusions stopped
Newegg seems to almost always have rebates that make it free or almost free

Cons: If you purchase this during one of the Newegg rebate sales there are no cons

Other Thoughts: Different antivirus products have different virus definitions so they stop different malware and viruses. In my opinion your antivirus choice should be the one that gives you the most piece of mind. Norton gives me piece of mind, has more definitions than most other products and hasn't let me down yet. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH online by googling different terms such as "antivirus reviews" etc. and pay attention to the reviews by reputable sites such as PCMag or CNet etc. and then get the antivirus that gives you the most piece of mind.
1) Norton is not a resource hog. It was many years ago but hasn't been for several years.
2) Know that they "A+ certified tech" is blowing smoke. If we're throwing around certifications, just know that the A+ guy has the bottom of the entry level certifications and probably works on a help desk. If you want to hear that the review you want to trust is from a "tech", I have an A+, Network+, CCNA, CCIE, CCNP and over ten years on the job "tech" experience. :

4 out of 5 eggsHard to beat the deal

Pros: Already bought Norton 360 for like $80/yr.

NOW, The egg gave me the sweetest deal ever on Norton.
I hardly miss Identity Safe as i feel it was getting a bit cluttered.

Same sweet interface and features.

The nicest Christmas Gift from all Black Friday offers I saw. I can plug the other PCs in the house on it when they run out.

Cons: I already at the $5.00 Gift Card at TGIF. Yes, the Jack Daniels Chicken tasted very good. My sweetie loved her J.D. Ribs too!

Other Thoughts: It was not Norton 360. But i told you that did not mean a lot to me.
