5 out of 5 eggsOnly the BEST for Internet protection!

Pros: Symantec Internet Security, IS THE BEST!

Cons: Free would be nice!

Other Thoughts: NORTON 360 is the BEST IN PROTECTION and Newegg makes it easy and AFFORDABLE!!

4 out of 5 eggsIt's actually pretty solid. For me anyway.

Pros: * The AntiVirus is regularly in or near the top 5 on AV-TEST for home/average users (with much competition)
* Comprehensive firewall and browser protection options.
* Online backup requires little configuration and the automation can be a GODSEND if you're forgetful and/or don't leave your computer on 24/7 the way some comparable scheduled backups work.

--More thoughts:
I had stopped using Norton 360 for about 2 1/2 years when I got a promotional offer to renew my original license for up to 3 PC's for only $29.99 so I gave it a shot-- since it now included cloud backup (only 2GB though).
I decided that I loved the Backup features enough to later buy the 25GB Norton Online Backup package to upgrade my space (expanded it to 27GB).

If you can get this suite at a significant discount, it's a pretty good deal. But read the rest of my review if you're not sure it's really for you.

System slowdown is negligible on my 3 1/2 year old HP laptop with a WEI of 4.1 (CPU bottleneck

Cons: * Casual or low-end users may run into issues configuring (or fixing bad auto-configuring) of the Firewall.

* Tech support from their mostly volunteer-based community forum is better (but often slower) than what they provide directly if you're a home user

* License transfer is possible! BUT it requires installation of a program that isn't included in the 360 software at this time (Norton Management)

* It's not actually a top-end AntiVirus solution (consistently outranked in AV-TEST stats by bitdefender, Kaspersky, and pretty much on par with the free MS Security Essentials.)

* Impossible to permanently disable the firewall and use a different one in its place (i.e. Windows Firewall) -- if potential complications with the firewall are a deal breaker, get something else :(

Other Thoughts: It's really important to take into consideration the reasons you're installing AV/Security software on the system(s) in question, and who you are installing 360 for.

The ideal situations for this particular suite are if you're already a moderate to advanced technician, and are installing this to protect heavily used PC's from friends/family who are not.. (because it's comprehensive); OR if you're moderately skilled with computers and willing to learn more about PC security in general (you may need to use help/google now and then to get used to it).

There are caveats to every choice you make with security suites (for my personal PC's I prefer using separate but highly ranked utilities), and I give Norton 360 4 eggs -- what it lacks most is user friendliness, because it is so comprehensive.

Requiring a separate piece of software to remove the license from computers no longer using the Norton software you own, is also an impediment.

4 out of 5 eggsNorton 360 rocks

Pros: Installs easily, does not bog the system down, catches a lot of nasty bugs. It does some system maintenance in the background.

Cons: The interface is not the easiest to navigate but once you get used to it is not all that bad.

Other Thoughts: For years Norton has been a very effective product that could drag a computer to its knees. Updates used to cause occasional problems, often major ones, and I finally ditched it a after having used it since the DOS days.

I am happy to say that this version of Norton works well, it causes minimal system slowdown, and the auto update has never caused a problem. I guess Symantec finally got wise and fixed the product. I have been using Norton 360 going on two years with no problems whatsoever.

The interface is a bit complicated to navigate at times. Things that should be simple to find are not always. Once you get used to it it is not so bad. The good news is that there is little need to tweak the settings, as I used to do with another security suite.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful

Pros: 0. 0. 0, & 0 pros to this.

Cons: Worst Antivirus system on the market(next to the other awful giants). Will still let any solid virus through, AND it slows down your machine to eating almost 40% proc speed on most standard computers. Spams updates constantly in your face. Costs too much for such a worthless program.

Other Thoughts: If you wanna PAY for an antivirus, pay for ESET nod32. If you dont, go to and download Microsoft sec. Essentials. Its good enough to keep your protected for what you need, and is free. Also VERY smooth on proc speed, doesnt even tickle it. GLHF, and SCREW norton.

1 out of 5 eggsUsed to be good.....

Pros: Many features, 3 user license

Cons: Many features are redundant to Windows 7. Limited number of installs, no mater if you renew your subscription year after year. Everything it does can be done equally well by other software or Windows for free.
Upgrading from ver. 4 to ver 6 caused major a slow down of my system and spikes of high disk usage during periods of "optimization".
Uninstalling nuked my system beyond repair, requiring a fresh install.

Other Thoughts: Why pay Norton when you can get a perfectly acceptable solution for free? (MS Security Essentials)
