5 out of 5 eggsProtection Protection Protection!!!

Pros: I have been using Norton products by Symantec since the dark ages of computing (IBM and MS Dos) and Norton has never failed me.

Cons: It's sometimes a resource hog. But solution to this is running the various scans when the PC is idle.

4 out of 5 eggsDon't update early

Pros: Works well enough. It's alot better now than it was years ago.

Cons: The renewal policy is amateurish and lazy. The software begins prompting you to renew a month before expiration. However, when you go to type in your renewal code, it warns you it will reset your renewal date to that day. You lose any remaining time you had on the previous subscription. If you paid their suggested price of $79.99 and renewed a month early, you would have been cheated out of $6.50. You must wait until the day it expires to renew and get full value.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: none.

Cons: 1,000 characters?!
I will donate the space rather than waste time listing all the cons.

Other Thoughts: There are a few free titles out there that do the same thing and don't crash...and actually work. Don't waste your cash on Symantec products.

1 out of 5 eggsUninstalling as I write....

Pros: It was free after rebate

Cons: Antivirus software should be rock solid. Norton 360 crashes after a few mouse clicks and I can't get it to restart until after a reboot. Who would have thought Symatec forgot to test an obscure OS called Windows XP?

Other Thoughts: Re-installing Norton Antivirus as I write this. It has always worked fine. 360 has nice features.... if only it worked.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy anything norton!

Pros: None at all.

Cons: I work in a computer repair shop, and from personal experience from owning norton and dealing with it at work. I will never in my life buy a Symantec product again.

EXPENSIVE (My free A/V works better)

Ever try to remove norton? Well you cant, well not fully at least. Theres always leftovers from norton, and those leftovers usually cause a whole lot of damage. (printer problems, internet problems, windows problems)

I have ran norton up against a few free scaners (BitDefender & Kaspersky's free scan), on an extremely infected computer. Norton said "your computer is clean" which is a lie because the computer was barely usable. Now running those free scans on the same computer, BitDefender came back with 65 Trojans, and Kaspersky found some Malware and Pups.
This alone is a prime example. Norton just doesnt work, its a SCAM and a WASTE of money.

They make you buy all these stupid little add-on programs that do pretty much nothing but usually error out and not fix anything, and when you call norton for help, they blame your computer, or just tell you to buy another one of their stupid products.

Ive been in this business for years, and i have seen ZERO improvement with norton over the years.

Norton is also very expensive compared to other A/V out there.. Why? i think because the average person doesnt know any better.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor, and get a FREE antivirus program, or something that will actually work. like AVG Internet Security, ESET NOD32, BitDefender, Kaspersky, or anything that ISNT mcafee or norton.

The free scanners are EXACTLY the same as the paid for anti-virus programs, they all find viruses from the same exact database. What the main difference is, or where your money is actually going when you buy an A/V, is into phone support and those extra useless programs like the Check-Up, RegCleaners, and cloud Backup.

I can name 5 programs of each type i mentioned above which are 100x better than what norton offers and are 100% free.

Be smart when getting an antivirus, ASK AROUND!! (ask your friends, co-workers. and especially go to a COMPUTER STORE. Not staples, not best buy. A real computer store, speak to someone with a degree, certifications and experience.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat program

Pros: Very easy to use, is smart about when it should run and not, and has a lot of nice features for ease of use.

Cons: Does not include for use on a mobile device as far as I can tell, which I wasn't sure on when I got it, but would have been nice if one of my uses could've gone towards that.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat product/BAD SERVICE

Pros: gives you everything you need => and then some...

Cons: where to start.... well first their costumer service is in India.... soooo dont expect a lot from it other then waiting countless hours on the phone for a representative and then finding they are not English speakers. secondly, this program has too many options that lead you in circles => on time i wanted to put up my fire wall to fully restrict anything while i was rebooting a PC that I had recently gutted out rebuilt and cleaned out . then when i wanted to reinstate the original settings the link was nowhere to be found.... I litterly had to uninstall and re-install the program just to go back=> a wast of time... again! => thirdly, they re-up my service with out asking me, i originally bought the product for 50 dollars but they charged me 100$ and right as im buying it from a retail store, hence why i had to wait on the phone for my refund

Other Thoughts: long story short, would i recommend this to a friend,NO. buy would I buy this product again, YES, but only because im sooooooooooo overly educated about it now after the endless hours i spent trying to figure it out. I kinda fell like i should be receveing a certificate in the mail from the Norton college or something cuz this was defiantly a semesters worth of work. FML

5 out of 5 eggsCustomer service

Pros: Haven't rec'd yet. I've used Norton products for years with total peace of mind.

Cons: I ordered the product four days ago and have not received it. It is now listed for $9.99 less. Contacted Norton who verified same product - different box. Newegg won't give me the lower price. Any suggestions?
