3 out of 5 eggsDoes what it says

Pros: Frustrated that the local stores only sell non Pro versions of windows 8.
This purchase was a must.

Cons: Way too expensive.
Purchasing a download from Newegg is not instant. Sometimes it takes almost a day to get the serial number or download.

2 out of 5 eggsWindows + Windows Pro Pack != Windows Pro

Pros: This upgrade will allow you to use some of Windows 8 Pro's features -- like Hyper-V and Windows Media Center.

Cons: - You can't use both Windows Media Center (+CableCard) and Hyper-V. It's one or the other.
- "Pro" features, like Remote Desktop, should work after activation. Some do, some don't. RDP does not.

Other Thoughts: I had an OEM system with Windows 8 and I have a CableCard tuner, so the Windows Pro Pack was necessary to get Windows Media Center. After activating the Pro Pack, WMC worked exactly as it had on my old Windows 7 system... until I enabled the Hyper-V role -- which was my secondary reason for upgrading.

Once the Hyper-V role was enabled, WMC would only display the following error when I tried to view or record my live CableCard stream:
"The video display device does not support playback of protected content."
I tried a number of things to circumvent this, but eventually settled on removing the Hyper-V role. WMC works again, but I can't run any Virtual Machines.

Activating the Windows 8 Pro Pack also won't configure some of the Security Groups necessary to use all of its Pro features. After updating, you still won't be able to RDP -- unless you're on a domain AND you're a domain administrator. You can either take your chances with importing complex REGEDITs that others have published in forums (to manually configure the necessary Security Groups), or you can "Refresh Windows 8" after the Pro Pack activation. (Your data should be safe, but be aware that Refreshing Windows 8 WILL necessitate the reinstallation of your locally installed apps. This is tedious and should be entirely unnecessary, but it's the closest thing to a solution that Microsoft is willing to offer.)

5 out of 5 eggsBe Aware

Pros: Be aware before you purchase this that it will not work as an activation key for an already installed Windows 8 Pro system.

Cons: You will need to purchase the actual activation key from Microsoft or an authorized retailer in order to activate a new Windows 8 Pro installation.

5 out of 5 eggsRead before buying. Duh.

Pros: Does exactly what is stated in the description. UPGRADES to Windows 8 Pro. Even states, if read, that Windows 8 is required to use this.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Don't rate something badly just because you didn't read the description well.

1 out of 5 eggsTHIS IS NOT WINDOWS 8 PRO!

Pros: If you want to upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8 pro, this is a simple code that is emailed to you.

Cons: This is the upgrade license ONLY from Win8 to Win8 Pro. This is NOT the operating system!

The only place this is made clear presently on the Newegg product page is the phrase "Turn your Windows 8 PC into a Windows 8 Pro PC." Buried deep in the description. Please call this an upgrade only license or something much more clear.

Other Thoughts: There are many Windows 8 options. I just wanted to get one DVD and a few licenses for some computers at work. I looked, this seemed correct and was sent a CD key. All seemed fine. The description lists Win8 Pro features and is not clear that this is NOT the full operating system but rather ONLY the key to upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro.

While I should have gotten this by doing more research, I just needed the component and moved on. Newegg, make this more clear, call this an upgrade only license or something similar!

1 out of 5 eggsWhat the heck!

Pros: none

Cons: NOT the OS! This only upgrades an existing Windows 8 install to Pro version.
*** This should be more detailed in the title and description!!! ***

4 out of 5 eggs4 stars because it works but...

Pros: It works as advertised. I find the OS itself pretty good if you have a touchscreen

Cons: The fact that I need this to do a few things that were mostly standard in Windows 7 Home Premium. Also, I wish Microsoft put the ability to eject USB mass storage devices in Metro.

Other Thoughts: You might be able to tell my hesitancy and somewhat sarcastic attitude towards this.

I got this because I wanted to run the Windows Phone 8 emulator to learn how to code on the device. The emulator requires Windows 8 Pro. So, in terms of what I bought this for, it works. Windows Media Center is actually better than the software that comes with most TV tuners, but it came with Windows 7 Home Premium.

I really wish that I didn't have to buy the pro edition to get all of this. In fact, without the pro pack, you are without Windows Media Center. I do feel that this should be part of the regular version, which is why it lost a star.

Get it if you need it and want to be legit and to get the most out of making Windows Phone 8 apps.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked well

Pros: Worked like a charm. Just plug the provided key into the add features part of Windows 8 and it does the rest.

Cons: It is not clear what happens when I want to do a clean install of Windows 8. I have a key for Windows 8 non-pro and this key for the pro pack. Will the non-pro key still authenticate? Will the pro-pack key allow me to download the pro version of Windows 8 again?

5 out of 5 eggsWindows 8 Pro Pack

Pros: Simple, buy the code online, get the code via email, enter the code and you are upgraded.

Cons: Have to upgrade to Pro to connect to a Windows domain.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to test Win8 for my company. As for the 5 egg rating... I can't fault this purchase with my dislike for Win8 so far.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat headset

Pros: Light weight and comfortable
Good sound with easy access controls on the headset
3 different presets to alter the incoming sound

Cons: Mic has a small cap over the LED mute notifier that easily fell off.
Slightly akward to place on your head as its not flexible like most headsets.
Unfortunately I am in the RMA process with MadCatz to get this headset replaced for a whirring noise the headset produces when the mic isn't muted - I could hear it through the head phones. Being a streamer and skype user this causes slight irritation for both parties. Hence reason for only 4 eggs but thats because RMA process is very slow and its a $150 headset.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully the new headset I receive will live up to the MadCatz statement that each of their products are "rarely faulty." However this headset is a good buy if you are on the receiving end of a good set.
