4 out of 5 eggsStill a rip-off, but it works

This review is from: Microsoft Office 365 Home - 5 Devices, 1 Year Subscription (Product Key Card)

Pros: Starts every time, and I never lose documents. Fair enough

Cons: Very costly for the same old functionality with new cute but useless bells and whistles with every new version.

I mean really. I get to watch thousands of movies that collectively cost billions if not trillions of dollars to make, on Netflix, for $7 a month. I pay Microsoft about the same for blank pages that I have to fill. Seems wrong.

Other Thoughts: I've been using office software since we used to call them by their functional names, such as "word processor" and "spreadsheet".

I could theoretically still be happy with WordPerfect 5.1. If their format weren't so proprietary I'd be using Apache OpenOffice for free, but if you send one of those files to someone they have no idea what to do with it. So I keep buying this overpriced carp for the sake of other people.

5 out of 5 eggsLOVE this !!!

This review is from: Microsoft Office 365 Home - 5 Devices, 1 Year Subscription (Product Key Card)

Pros: 5 licenses for 5 pc's and macs... 5 tablet/phone installs.. If you want to take it off of one PC and install on another, you can. If you want to give a copy to a family member 800 miles away, you can add them to your account at no extra charge.. Easy to install

Cons: None that I can see as long as it is a fresh install...

Other Thoughts: I am a certified MS partner and have beta tested MS products since Vista. They did it right on this one... So right, they are doing the same thing with Windows 10

5 out of 5 eggsOffice 365

This review is from: Microsoft Office 365 Home - 5 Devices, 1 Year Subscription (Product Key Card)

Pros: Great price
Runs on my Galaxy Tab S and my PC
Can add 4 additional users for a total of 5
Each user can install on a pc, phone and tablet
Each user has their own site for their office install and can not see my main account site
Each user gets 1tb of one drive storage

Cons: Still costs money and doesn't clean my house

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale for only $60. Since the monthly charge for Office 365 is usually $9.99 for a home license, I saved 50%. It runs great on my Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy Tab 4 8" and my Nexus phone. Be advised, if you have an android tablet with an intel-based processor, it will not run on it at the time of this review. Microsoft says they will have an intel version for android out in the next quarter, but who knows if that will actually happen on time.

1 out of 5 eggsA 3-legged mutt with fleas

This review is from: Microsoft Office 365 Home - 5 Devices, 1 Year Subscription (Product Key Card)

Pros: None

Cons: Drab modern GUI is difficult to read, even with healthy eyes. The GUI reminds me of CGA grade graphics, just in HD. Outlook constantly crashed when saving or sending emails. Tried to repair the installation, and it removed all applications and won't allow me to reinstall them. Outlook calendar on my Android phone is almost impossible to easily enter and edit appointment times. Access 2013 wouldn't open and convert an Access database I created in 1999 and want to resurrect. No doubt there are plenty of other rotten Easter Eggs in this release that I didn't discover in 5-days of use.

Other Thoughts: I've been using Office since the late 90's, and I figured it was time to upgrade my Office 2007.

I contacted Microsoft support twice in 5-days. When I couldn't reinstall Office after the repair failed, M$ wanted me to pay for advanced support to figure out the problem. I immediately cancelled my subscription.

I'll stick with Office 2007.

5 out of 5 eggsKiller Deal!

This review is from: Microsoft Office 365 Home - 5 Devices, 1 Year Subscription (Product Key Card)

Pros: Word, Outlook, , Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, 20GB of SkyDrive/OneDrive, OneNote, and 60 Minutes towards Skype for PC, MAC, and Supported Mobile Devices.

All of the above times 5, for $99 bucks a year! Spread that out over your family, that's what...$25 bones a person!?

Cons: Absolutely none! Who in their Tech Savvy mind wouldn't take this offer! Especially when you have a new office version what, every 2-4 years!

Other Thoughts: If I remember correctly, you have the ability to remove the license from one PC, and slap it to another one, at no penalty. But, just in case, don't mark those words.

1 out of 5 eggssave your money ....

This review is from: Microsoft Office 365 Home - 5 Devices, 1 Year Subscription (Product Key Card)

Pros: I'm a 3-decade user of word and bought a family pack (2010) last year for $150. However, Microsoft always makes installation and update difficult or impossible. I started using Libre Office (Note: this is where the best Star Office and Open office coders work now) in 2012 and recently came to work at Google, where we have 45,000 employees and NO MICROSOFT OFFICE products - Google docs, sheets, slides all is online now .... The only missing pieces now are a good draw and paint program. I LEFT my 2nd and 3rd license of Office uninstalled because Microsoft is trying to force me not to buy windows 7. They are trying to force me into windows 8.1 - "The perfect gift for anyone you HATE" said an MIT Scientist.

Do you really want to buy into all their Baloney again with this product??? You will waste hours and hours and $$$$$ when it's time to upgrade, I can promise you that ....

Cons: Limitless

5 out of 5 eggsLow cost way to stay up to date with Office

This review is from: Microsoft Office 365 Home - 5 Devices, 1 Year Subscription (Product Key Card)

Pros: Office 2013 (part of the Office 365 suite) is a worthy upgrade from any previous version. This subscription package allows for 5 installs (desktop, tablet and phone are qualified for installation) and provides all the goodies (Access, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook and Word). Installation is easy and fast over a high speed connection. Software is always up to date with latest versions.

Cons: Could take some time to install over a slower internet connection.

Other Thoughts: If you've been purchasing full retail licenses for Office in the past and you have multiple computers, this is truly cost saving in the long run. The subscription allows multiple computers to remain up to date on the latest versions of Office with no hassle.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great, but be aware...

This review is from: Microsoft Office 365 Home - 5 Devices, 1 Year Subscription (Product Key Card)

Pros: This was very easy to install and get up and running on my new PC build. I was able to export my email, calendar, and contacts from my old computer running Office 2007 - and then easily import all of that information into Office 365 on my new computer.

Cons: This was initially a complete disaster installing this on my old computer, which already had Office 2007 installed on it. After installing Office 365 onto that old computer, it had both versions of MS Office installed on it. That was unexpected, but really just an annoyance.

However, when I would launch Outlook or Excel (but not PowerPoint), the application would start, give a brief message that it was optimizing something, and then would immediately crash, and I mean totally crash completely. It was completely useless, so I uninstalled Office 365 from that computer. After spending a few hours online researching this situation, I saw that several other people were experiencing the exact same problem. One of the potential causes was a conflict with a program known as ABBYY Fine Reader. I recognized that as a program that was installed on my old computer, but one that I had never used. (It gets installed when you install software that comes with Epson printer and scanner installation disks.)

I then uninstalled ABBYY Fine Reader from my old computer. My subsequent attempt to install Office 365 onto that computer went smoothly, and the programs all ran just fine.

It even pulled all of my email, calendar, and contacts information from Office 2007. A few days later, after I was satisfied that Office 365 was working OK, I just went into Add/Remove programs and uinstalled Office 2007.

I'm still trying to get used to the bright white and light gray user interface. That might be really cool on a tablet, but on a desktop with a large monitor, it does not seem appropriate (to me). At times it really does seem to slow down your efficiency. That alone is worth removing one egg from my rating of this product.

Other Thoughts: Most people would not spend the time to research this situation, and would not be able to use this software.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PC.

This review is from: Microsoft Office 365 Home - 5 Devices, 1 Year Subscription (Product Key Card)

Pros: Nice quality components: MSI video card. Gigabyte Mobo. Cooler master case, psu, and CPU cooler.

Extremely fast delivery. Ordered free Newegg Supersaver and received the item in 1 business day.

Haven't had a chance to play any games yet, but the system is multitasking beautifully.

Windows 8 installed easily and quickly. Some other reviewers have complained of looping boot up and they have specific instructions on how to avoid this on the packaging. Also, the windows 8 product key is on the side of the case, as I have read some reviews of not recording a key.

Cons: Maybe the throw away keyboard and mouse, but I expected that.

Cons: The interface is different, and I didnt like it at first, but after a day or two, I love it
