Office 2013 is now transferable:

  • You may transfer the software to another computer that belongs to you, but not more than one time every 90 days (except due to hardware failure, in which case you may transfer sooner).
  • If you transfer the software to another computer, that other computer becomes the "licensed computer."
  • You may also transfer the software (together with the license) to a computer owned by someone else if a) you are the first licensed user of the software and b) the new user agrees to the terms of this agreement before the transfer.
  • Any time you transfer the software to a new computer, you must remove the software from the prior computer and you may not retain any copies.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat office product

Pros: Awesome skydrive integration, easy setup ( click and walk away), Amazing touch features.

Cons: - No dvd is a bummer but its sooo much easier for my parents to install, they dont have to know what an ISO is and how to use it. They dont have a dvd drive anyways so this works perfect.
- Was a bit slow at first but has been rectified by updates.

Other Thoughts: I really dont know what everyones problem is, this is an incredibly easy to use and install verson of Office, I havent looked back since the move. My parents moved to it themselfs, without any help from me, and they love it. Paired with windows 8 and skydrive its unbeatable. I have multiple computers running this software flawlessly for a while.
- If you have a computer with touch, which is many new machines, this is a worthy upgrade. It is soo much easier to navigate using touch now.

Thanks microsoft my 3 yr old HP touchsmart finally works as intended.

2 out of 5 eggsI'm with Jay

Pros: It's the new Office. Minor changes over 2010. More push to the Office 365.

Cons: from the reseller standpoint, ridiculous. I want to have complete, ready to go systems but: REQUIRED on-line email activation. if you register more than one serial number, you don't get even a hint of the number that you are working with when you get to the activation site. Downloads, really? It's the only way that the whole activation process seems to work without getting mixed up. So, I want to deliver six office systems ready-to-work but, I have to suck my shops internet dry first! Three hundred mb of -7- patches first. Then the Office download that dreams that it is ready but says "Your Office is ready to use now" but it is still downloading????!!!!!

Other Thoughts: Dear Microsoft, I used to like making money with you.
Sincerely,
Mike

1 out of 5 eggsThe absolute worst ever!

Pros: Once it is installed correctly and activated, it might actually be a nice office suite.

Cons: The activation process is a nightmare, especially for oem system builders. If you don't have the files for installation you have to "stream" the install which can take hours. The mandatory MS account binding is for the birds.

Other Thoughts: I build computers on a daily basis for a small company and this generation of office has been torture to me and anyone who has to deal with it. At first we were using a local support account to activate the copies but then realized they were permanently attached to that account. Now we leave it unactivated and unbound and the customer feedback on activation has been horrible as well. Like I said in the Pro's section, this may be a good functioning office suite but the process to install and activate has really put a dent in my productivity as a system builder.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate to License Terms - follow up.

Pros: Yay!! It appears MS has listened to their customers and made the license transferable.

Cons: One star dropped for the unpleasant install experience and no CD. My clients would even be happy to pay a bit extra for real CD media!

Other Thoughts: Now all they have to do is give us an easily downloadable image or CD and everything will be good. Then we can give them 5 stars for an overall good product.
Full credit to Microsoft for listening and responding. Maybe they are changing!!

5 out of 5 eggsCan transfer to another computer

Pros: Found something interesting about the License for this product.. If it is actually true or not is for you to figure out..

(From ama zon) 4. You may transfer the software to another computer that belongs to you, but not more than one time every 90 days (except due to hardware failure, in which case you may transfer sooner). If you transfer the software to another computer, that other computer becomes the "licensed computer."

Cons: Unknown

1 out of 5 eggsDownload Product Stinks new low

Pros: I would give it half an egg if possible. No Pros over 2010, with 2010 reinstall whenever you need to with an actual CD/DVD product in your hands.

Cons: Ok, so no CD/DVD install, you have to go through hoops to setup and account, verify this verify that. Download the product which will only work on one PC. Good luck if you want to reinstall from a virus or crashed drive. Do yourself a favor and purchase 2010 while you can. MS has a nasty habit of changing phone numbers and websites

Other Thoughts: I give Newegg ***** Eggs for returns by the way
Returns for the product to MS direct is a nightmare, transferred 3 times from dept to dept. MS will only take returns that are mailed to them with receipts. Takes 6 to 8 weeks for a check to be mailed to you. Caution before you buy.

1 out of 5 eggsHonestly Absurd

Pros: As much as I might like the new aesthetic, it contrasts pretty hard with Windows 7. I personally loved what they did with Aero glass in Windows 7, now it has all been traded for "simple" stuff that might work on weaker Win8 hardware. You can't even set (as far as I know) Office 2013 to take on the aesthetic of Windows 7. So this is both a pro (the look is simple, that has its appear), but a con being unchangeable.

Cons: Glitchy. I installed on my Core I7 Win7 64 bit and word and excel crash every other exit. I've even had word and excel processes stay open even though I closed the program. I was curious as to why my machine CPU was being eaten up, low and behold.... Outlook doesn't feel as smooth and easy as the more stable 2010 version. I have no idea what they did, but it feels bloated and clunky. Especially since the UI should be easier on the computer. I have 2 exchange servers and Gmail (IMAP) hooked up. Rarely does it connect to all of them like it should. It's not the network either.

Also, the licensing agreement is absurd. Truly absurd. It would honestly be less of a headache to pirate this software than to be a legitimate customer.

Other Thoughts: Why are we being charged (now with a way worse licensing agreement) for a worse product? I wish deeply that MS Office didn't have a monopoly on the market. It has given them no reason to change their "product".

1 out of 5 eggsMS sinks to new low

Pros: Some minor improvements over older versions of office.

Cons: Microsoft treats you like they are doing YOU a big favor by selling you their product. The new licensing scheme is a bad joke. They don't actually sell you anything concrete, just a code that you have to redeem on their website, and they make you jump through inconvenient hoops to even download the software. They force you to create an account, force you to confirm your account, and even force you to enter one of those cryptic hard to read codes before they allow you to download anything. The process is surprisingly confusing and glitch prone, and is NOT for your benefit, but rather for theirs. This new scheme will definitely be a problem for non tech-savvy users!!

Other Thoughts: Microsoft sells you their product with big strings attached, and they can pull it back out of your possession if they want, like if your computer dies and you need to replace it, or if you buy a new one. I hope their big corporate clients can put enough pressure on them to drop this nonsense and give you a real install disk, but not holding my breath. This is ridiculous.
