4 out of 5 eggsA little more meat than the bare essentials

Pros: Access to all features of every included product.

Cons: For some reason, I was asked to input account information close to ten times even after completing the initial setup.

Other Thoughts: This is the one you want if you are a student and don't need the horsepower of Outlook and other business solution programs.

4 out of 5 eggsWrong version

Pros: -New UI is a nice but subtle improvement
-Its Microsoft Office not much else to say

Cons: - The portuguese version kept installing no matter what I did

Other Thoughts: This is a pretty basic review. Microsoft Office for me has always been the premier software for business interaction that is currently available. Other software may do some things better but overall they are never totally better. My only problem is for some reason it defaulted to the portuguese version and well I don't speak portuguese. Luckily after about an hour of being on the line with microsoft support, mainly because I couldn't even read the menus so that I could fix it on my own and that is if it is even fixable on the user level, it got taken care of and has been pretty well perfect since.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful Install Process

Pros: Never got to see the office programs. Could not stomach the download installation process.

Cons: I had a client bring this to me to install on a new PC he had just purchased for his wife. I had to call him back and explain that I was unable to install it. He could not believe it, so I sat him down in my office and we went through the online installation process together. As it was a gift for his wife, he was unable to remember her email address to sign her up for a new MS-Web account, so "no downloads for you". Reminds me of that Soup Guy on TV.

Other Thoughts: My client ended up taking the Office 2013 back to where he bought it from and getting his money back. I even tried calling MS for assistance. They advised me they had to transfer me to the Office Division. After waiting on hold for over ten minutes, I hung up. Time is money and I am tired of giving it away to MS for junk like this. My client was happy with the free Kingsoft Office 2013.

4 out of 5 eggsFor Microsoft Office Home and Student

Pros: I have used Microsoft products my entire life and I am pleased with their products (except Windows Vista)

Cons: I purchased 6 licenses and installed 5 of the 6 on brand new computers. On 2 of the 5 that were installed, the system was telling me that I could not activate the licenses because they had already been used. I am puzzled by this since these are brand new licenses that I purchased at Newegg. I called Microsoft and they were very helpful. They confirmed that the two licenses that I was not able to activate were legitimate licenses and they were able to install Home Office in my computers via remote desktop.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if any other customers have faced the same situation and why did this event occurred.

3 out of 5 eggsUnless it's a new PC...

Pros: It's Microsoft Office, the gold standard of office suites. It has the three most widely-used Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. It also has OneNote, which I would probably use if I had a touch screen.

Cons: So, Microsoft doesn't seem to want to distribute their software on physical media anymore. That kind of upsets me, means I can't do a full offline install. It's basically no different from the "download key" version, which is the same price so it doesn't matter.

Now the actual software: Office 2013 is really no different from Office 2010. Why is this in cons? Because the places it IS different from Office 2010 are in bad ways. Like the all-caps ribbon tab labels, what's up with that? Also, since it's really no different, it makes no point to buy this version if you can stick with 2010. (I bought this for a new PC)

3 out of 5 eggsMS Office

Pros: You get official Microsoft Office...

Cons: You no longer get Outlook or Access... Visio is still an add on. In my humble opinion it's a bit of a rip off considering what limited software you get!

Other Thoughts: LibreOffice, OpenOffice, GoogleDocs
