4 out of 5 eggsQuick Install/Does what is needed

This review is from: Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 - Download - 1 PC

Pros: It's Office 2013... word, onenote, excel, PowerPoint. Get's the job done.

Easy install... go to MS site, apply serial #, login, install.

Cons: I do hate the fact that it is a one per computer license.

Other Thoughts: In summary... easy install, restrictive license, and Office 2013 -- it get's the job done.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

This review is from: Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 - Download - 1 PC

Pros: I cant see any pros since I can not download the software to install it, so I guess the only pro I see is that my PC still works after pounding on the keyboard in frustration of Microsoft B* that you need to create an account to download the software.

Cons: As another member said "Newegg sends you an email w/ the product key, BUT, then you have to go to Microsoft and create a Microsoft account to download it..." the problem is that this Microsoft Account Signup Page is down, so without being able to create a MS Account, you CAN NOT download the software to enter the Product Key Newegg sends you. P.S. I bought a digital copy because I needed to open some work related stuff that required immediate attention, so much for that.

Other Thoughts: People, save yourself a lot of headaches and frustration, either order a Media Disk, or drive to Best Buy and get one as I ended up doing (Sorry Newegg, I love you guys, but not today, although I know this is not your fault).

3 out of 5 eggsBeware. Key valid only in NA region

This review is from: Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 - Download - 1 PC

Pros: N/A

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: The key you will receive is only valid in the North America region. Since I wanted to install the software outside the NA region, I has a problem. I contacted Newegg, but they refused to refund me the money. They told me to contact Microsoft. After several contact with Microsoft the problem was finally resolved to my satisfaction. Although the problem is resolved, If I knew the issue when I bought the software, I would have pass.

5 out of 5 eggsNot that bad. Easy upgrade.

This review is from: Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 - Download - 1 PC

Pros: Easy upgrade from old office.
All my old files work just fine. Product could've been cheaper now only 1PC but functionality is not as bad as others described.

Cons: Price.

Other Thoughts: I would choose this over office 365, considering the fact product license doesn't expire on this one.

1 out of 5 eggsBeat with an ugly stick

This review is from: Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 - Download - 1 PC

Pros: Excel has some new features that may prove useful

Cons: The interface looks like it was beat with an ugly stick. Default theme was an unreadable white on white. Thmes are now independent of windows and must be set in each application. Default security settings ensured that i had to make a repeat visit to an already irritated client to set each applications security settings to low just so email attached .doc*and xls* files would open. Opening the company Access database for the first time injected an add on which broke the application for users with previous version until i remoted in to fix it. My customer has been irritated since i installed this product and i've had to eat at least 2 hours because i "recommended" it (because i can no longer find 2010 for sale, a thundering "recommendation" for sure). Oh yeah, and it blue screened the computer when I installed it. Awesome product, exactly what i've come to expect from Redmond.

Other Thoughts: At least no one was physically injured.

1 out of 5 eggsCollege Students check this out....

This review is from: Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 - Download - 1 PC

Pros: See other comments

Cons: For student still crazy price.

Other Thoughts: Heads up for students in case you already didnt know, DO NOT SHELL OUT THE CASH TO BUY THIS. Most major universities (if you attend a community college they probably do too just check) have a deal with Microsoft and other companies to offer their students various software for FREE or at HUGE DISCOUNTS. I never paid for office while I was in school and to upgrade to windows 7 it was $25 for 64 bit pro edition. I was able to get adobe creative suite for around $635.00. There was a bunch of different programs I could download for free as well if I wanted or needed it. Check with your tech store on campus, IT website, search for it on the schools 'current student' page, etc. Your academic advisor will probably know if they do or not as well if you're having issues finding it.

1 out of 5 eggsNot sure it's worth the update

This review is from: Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 - Download - 1 PC

Pros: SkyDrive storage

Cons: So far, I don't see the point in the upgrade unless you have a touch display.

Other Thoughts: Although I've only been using this latest version for about a week I'm not seeing the advantage in upgrading from Home & Student 2010. I'm a heavy user of OneNote, Word, and Excel and an occasional user of Powerpoint. Unless I upgrade my laptop or desk monitor to touch in the future so that I can take advantage of the touch functionality, I think I just wasted about $100.
