5 out of 5 eggsJust to clear it up

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 32-bit - OEM

Pros: YOU DO NOT NEED TO CTRL-ALT-DEL TO CLOSE APPS ..... JUST MOVE YOUR MOUSE TO UPPER RIGHT CORNER AND THE CLOSE "X" SHOWS UP TO CLOSE THE APP.

Cons: quit raggin on windows8, it runs faster and better than windows7 and you can download "classic shell" google it for the start menu you are used to .....plus apps.

Other Thoughts: 8 sec boot times if you load to an ssd in uefi mode and boot from "windows manager" uefi drive, set your bios to windows 8 and fast boot.

People need to take some time and learn things before you post incorrect info and flame a product

4 out of 5 eggstiles are for bathrooms

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 32-bit - OEM

Pros: easy to recover your OS if your hard drive gets messed up, it looks like win 7 desktop + tiles, but with some simple adjustments, it starts to look and act like win 7, runs quick and is responsive to the UI.

Cons: if you dont have a touch screen monitor, some of the tile'd apps are a pain to get out of, you have to cntrl+alt+delete, to get the list of apps and then shut them down, no wonder some laptops have 32G of memory. Charms, etc. ugh!!, is this an O/S or a wii game. I stick to the desktop if at all possible.

Other Thoughts: had some driver issues, where the printer for example has a win 8 driver, but it doesnt install, but in time it will all be fixed. Got $10 off the OEM dvd from Newegg, thanks, and fast shipping, no complaints.

1 out of 5 eggsWhy would anyone torture themselves?

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 32-bit - OEM

Pros: They've improve the visuals. Nice clean look to it graphics wise. The O/S is highly customizable. 8.1 does fix some major issues. With some work you can pretty much completely avoid Metro, but then why not just use Windows 7 instead?

Cons: You're basically running a tablet O/S on a desktop/laptop that has a handicapped desktop you can switch to. Now why the heck would you want to do that? In a nutshell, the Metro interface has a flat structure that does not scale well for clients with lots of applications. The interface is awkward with a mouse. Handling multiple windows is less efficient. Need I go on?

Other Thoughts: I own a tech company that has thousands of clients running windows. Windows 8 is almost universally hated by my clients. All the new computers I've ordered for them, with the exception of a handful that are not for business use, have been windows 7. Too bad Microsoft is in such denial about it. This will hasten the adoption of alternate platforms, especially for people who don't need legacy windows applications.
