4 out of 5 eggsFixes Most of the Problems with 8.)

Pros: Metro menu is not a default
Made calling up and down the Metro menu much more intuitive
Can upgrade with Windows Media Center option -- thus using "cable cards" from Fios at half the price of a set top box (STB)
Can choose which updates to install or not install and when to install them.

Cons: Metro interface is really just a full screen task menu now. and that's fine with me.

Other Thoughts: The major advantage Windows 10 has over 8.1 is the ability to switch between desktop and tablet mode. That's a godsend on my tablet when I want to switch between finger operation and keyboard/mouse. But as far as full time desktop operation is concerned, I would rather have WMC...which Microsoft is going to eliminate sometime around 2020 or something. So that's not a reason to invest in 8.1. But it is a reason to keep it if you already have the hardware.

5 out of 5 eggsWindows 8.1 Pro

Pros: I give this a high rating in that it does what it says and personally I would not have Windows 10 if given free to me. I dislike not having all the features as included at no extra cost in 7.1, or XP but there is little choice in the matter. It is inconvenient and I also dislike haaving to buy apps to use the features I waant or need and my thoughts are it is just another way to screw Joe Public. Whats next in our future?

Cons: Having to buy and install APPS to use the computer as on earlier operating systems. The cost which keeps going up while receiving less features.

Other Thoughts: If the price of Linux should significantly go down or another operating system which has the features which I want and is not conceived by Windows or Microsoft then I shall buy this and you can color me gone.

3 out of 5 eggsI'm sure this version has a use, because it is not a bad OS.

Pros: Was fairly stable OS for the week I used it before upgrading to 10.
They gave me a free upgrade to Windows 10. (10 had not released yet and I had need of a new system immediately.)
The "Classic Windows " interface would make this a great OS to replace the aging Windows 7 OS without confusing terminal users with a bunch of GUI changes.

Cons: Reminds me of Vista, in regard to with how long it took to be replaced with Windows 10.
Windows 10 is better in all regards. ie.(Boots faster, shuts down faster, smoother driver updating, smoother device attachment(USB devices, blue tooth devices, wifi devices), easier to learn interface, app store is great)

Other Thoughts: If I had to do it all over again I would just load up a Windows 10 disc. It is a big change from 8.1 to 10 and the time to install would have been shorter on a disc to disc install.

3 out of 5 eggsNot a fan.

Pros: It works. It's Windows.

Cons: Metro interface is fugly. Lack of start menu makes me crazy.

Other Thoughts: I should've went with 7, but noooooooo. I had to get the newer version. I can't wait for my free upgrade to 10. I'll be kicking myself 'till then.

5 out of 5 eggsA big step up from 7 and 8

Pros: Very fast and very smooth. Literally no complaints because there hasn't been any problems. Even the updates have had no hiccups. No problems with the Start screen or Modern apps either which are superb if you have a touch screen or tablet.

Cons: If you're running 8.0 you have to install 8.1 through the Windows Store which can be confusing for some. The Start screen and the Modern apps can be jarring for those who don't understand they were made for touch.

Other Thoughts: It seems most of the users who are giving bad reviews either have really old hardware or bitter users of Windows 7 who have trouble adapting. I suggest those to wait for Windows 10 which brings back the overrated start menu, lots of other backwards UI features and compromises

5 out of 5 eggsSystem Builder Version

Pros: Awsome, super stable best version of windows ever

Cons: Needs minor tweaks to make it easily usable and is sufficiently different from windows 7 and previous versions, that it requires a bit of instruction.

Other Thoughts: Hello? This is a system builder version. It requires you, the builder, to provide support. As such, you should already be an expert on this OS. As an expert, you would know that this is the best version of windows so far and be able to tweak it for usability.

1 out of 5 eggs8.1 is a Joke

Pros: Stable when it works

Cons: Have gotten over 300 errors since date of install. Nothing but MS Office 2013 installed on computer. Called windows tech support they wanted me to pay 149.99 for them to fix their OS. Wish I stayed with Windows 7. Havent had this many errors with a fresh install since WindowsME

1 out of 5 eggsTablet/Phone OS

Pros: Faster than 7

Cons: To many to list, removed so much functionality. Worse thing- they're just trying to cram there highly unpopular mobile interface down your throat to get there selves a share of the mobile market- Lets face it these guys already have an unfair monopoly on the OS department. The government needs to step in and have software companies use free and public core components like OpenGL instead of Direct3D. Once that happens we'll have a true fair market. And this "HAS BEEN MONEY GRUBBING COMPANY" will go down faster than you ca say "what HAPPEN"...

Other Thoughts: Just try and defend one of the largest richest companies in the world shoving there touch tech down you throat even though it's counter-intuitive to a desktop environment so they can make even more money. Someone has to open this world up so we can have some real innovation. There are small groups of people that can do better than this and yet we allow a HUGE company like microsoft to have a monopoly on the market stifling progress and preventing even themselves from having the aid of true competition,
