4 out of 5 eggsits Windows

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Pros: x64 Bit, can use lots of RAM
can use home Networking (Professional)

Cons: expensive
Its Windows.

Other Thoughts: wish it didnt cost so much. used to get them for free through school through MSDNAA, wish i still did.

Not too much difference between Pro and Home to be honest, you could save some money and just get the Home version for any basic build or any strictly gaming build. no performance difference or anything, just some extra features, the only one of which i found useful and the reason i got Pro over Home is that it can do Wireless Home Networking. Home cant.

5 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 Pro is Rad

5 out of 5 eggsEasy install

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Pros: I don't know why I waited so long to upgrade from winxp. Win764 bit solved all the issues I had with my older pc and it really works so much like xp that it took no time to get used to.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I built my pc several years ago and it just wasn't doing the job anymore. I decided I would take a gamble on the o/s before I start building a new one and it worked out far better than I expected.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat OS!

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Pros: It is not Windows 8!

Windows 7 is probably one of Mircosoft's best OS's YTD. It is stable and offers many nice features, a much needed improvement over Vista.

And, it is not the stupid "Tile Display" - "Hey, after 30 years lets try to make all of our stuff the same between all of our devices" like Windows 8.

Cons: After being on the market for 4 years it still costs $140!!!!

It is more money than Windows 8 Pro, of course that is because Windows 8 sucks and MS knows it!

4 out of 5 eggsMUCH better than 8!

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Pros: Stable, easy install, 64-bit supports lots of RAM, good software and hardware compatibility,

Cons: Can't buy the "retail" version that lets you install on 3 machines anymore. This makes it expensive if you're wanting to install it on more than one machine. Also, who is the guy at Microsoft with the microscopic vision? Jeez, guy, at least supply a cheap plastic magnifier for the rest of us!

Other Thoughts: My company had been using WinXP for several years, and it was fine. However, when Microsoft quit supporting it, the "upgraded" all the company machines to Win8. Oh, my! Nothing but problems. Software incompatibility, hardware (printers, mostly) incompatibility, and many other difficulties. Somehow, they managed to swing some sort of deal and "downgraded" to Win7 Pro 64-bit. All the problems miraculously went away! If you're planning on upgrading an older computer, stick with Win7 - as long as it meets the minimum hardware requirements. Win 8 just has too many potential problems for me to be able to recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 does a great job of driver installations during its installation!

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Pros: I appreciated the faster, less complicated installation process. There was no need to search the internet hardware or DVDs that sometimes comes with the hardware items.
I installed one of these OSs on a new build for my wife in 2010, and she has had almost no trouble with the Win 7 during the past 4 years.

Cons: I was involuntarily forced to use Win 7 after support for my XP Professional OS ceased. Win XP was excellent, and easier to use than Windows 7. Access steps in Win 7 are more complicated than XP was.

Other Thoughts: I did increase the system RAM from 4 GB (3 GB accessed with XP) to a total of 12 GB with Win 7.
Perhaps I will get more used to Windows 7 in the near future.

5 out of 5 eggs7 Pro

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Pros: Stable, easy to work in, and XP Mode.

Cons: Not cheaper

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 should be much cheaper now that 8 is out, but it still isn't. Oh well. I'll keep catching these on sale until 9 comes out and takes care of 8.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Pros: It's W7 64 bit. Everyone should know how it works by now.

Cons: I looked at W8, but it looks more like a toy designed for tablets, rather than a traditional operating system. I decided to stick with W7.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded to 64bit so I can run more than 4GB of ram...
