5 out of 5 eggsBest OS out there

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Its not windows 8 or 8.1. You need to have an OS that is mouse and keyboard friendly when building a gaming rig. Easy to navigate. Building a system for my sister for her B-day, she is used to Vista. She will be happy with 7. Also Very Stable for over clockers.

Cons: None, I have built lots of rigs with windows 7 and only 1 with windows 8.
Windows 8 is not desktop friendly, and 7 Rocks!!!

Other Thoughts: Microsoft needs to think a little more of us personal computer builders and less of the large PC moguls. There is a Whole do-it-yourself computer industry out there building parts for a gaming friendly OS.

5 out of 5 eggsGot a magnifying glass?

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: + Stable OS
+ Easier navigation on a desktop computer than Win 8.1

Cons: - The new product key sticker is so SMALL that you will likely have to get a magnifying glass in order to key it in during installation.
- The new font used on the product key is extremely difficult to make out the differences between things like a C or an O and an 8 or a B.

5 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 Home Premium

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: I've been running 7 since it was released as I'm sure many of you have. I love this operating system. I simply hate windows 8. I know that you can install an app to add the start menu functionality to 8, but I still can't stand it. The "touch friendly" os means nothing to me. I have that on a tablet and its an Android. The tiles on 8 are beyond ugly as well. Windows 7 is the best for gaming. YMMV

Cons: None other than the fact that it's not the newer of the Windows offerings.

Other Thoughts: I know that Windows 7 is supposed to be supported until 2020, I just hope something better than the atrocious Windows 8 is out by then.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Fast installation and ease of use. After months of using Windows 8, i still prefer Windows 7 over it. The good thing is that it doesn't have the interface of a tablet like Windows 8, which isn't appealing if you're not using a tablet.

Cons: Could be cheaper!

5 out of 5 eggsStable

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Windows 7 is stable. I use it primarily for gaming and don't recall it crashing. It boots up within a few seconds with my Intel SSD. Very fast boot. It's not Windows 8.

Cons: None that come to mind.

Other Thoughts: I like this OS so much I'll run it until Windows 9 is well established and has the inevitable bugs worked out. No reason to upgrade. It is much easier to navigate than 8 or 8.1. A few folks have said Win 8 is fast but with an SSD the Win 7 OS is greased lightening.

5 out of 5 eggsPossibly the best OS ever

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Used it on a previous build. It's stable, works great for gaming and is a proven product. I honestly did not consider going the Windows 8 route simply due to the stability factor. This OS has been out for some time and has had most of the bugs sorted out. Some might argue against it in terms of future proofing. Since support for Windows 7 will completely end by 2020, I personally don't think anyone has to worry. I mean, I've had Windows XP on my old system for 10+ years and it still works!!! If you're not downloading torrents... you should be fine. For the mainstream user (casual browser/gamer) you really don't have anything to worry about. I plan to keep this OS until Windows 9 (fingers crossed, hoping it will be like 7 only better)

Cons: Don't really have any. I guess it probably would be the amount of RAM limitation at 16 GB, but really I think you would have to be hard pressed to find someone who even fully uses 8 GB

Other Thoughts: It's a proven OS. I've used XP, Vista and 8/8.1. Honestly I think for those who want just a basic OS without any of the "bells and whistles", Windows 7 is the best option. I really didn't like the tiles format on 8 (had a Windows phone and that was pretty good), but this is mainly because I prefer to have an uncluttered background. I mean I don't have a use for all the apps that come and really didn't fancy investing a substantial amount of time in setup up my OS. The only icon on my main screen in the recycle bin. In the same context, I really like the slideshow background feature of 7, so that was one of my main items for consideration.

5 out of 5 eggsBEST

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: This is the one to use get on Newegg email list they sent me a e m that said I could buy this for 85$ and Free Ship. T.Y. N E

Cons: I did the W8 40$ download last year on 4 PC with XP 2 have been nothing but problems. The security on W8 is a Nightmare I had to reload W8 it would crash then after the new download Micro said I Can't do a New reload on this W8 now they want me to purchase a New copy of W8

Other Thoughts: I Will NEVER EVER do W8 again it has been a License Nightmare with all the security most of my work has been rejected. I was even shut down by micro for doing Illegal software programs. The Inter Net people came out to my Home and checked my pc because it said I was using a Illegal copy I showed them the 4 Disc that I bought from Micro. After several Hours they let me go back on line.
