5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Fast shipping as always from Newegg . Bought this to replace Vista on a old but very capable PC I acquired. Probably will be used mostly as a HTPC. Windows 8 doesn't include WMC and requires you to buy additional software to get it.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsI love this

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Pros its not windows 8. I can fix it without holding shift rubbing my belly and scratching my head while singing the national anthem.

Cons: Does not deliver pizza or make coffee in the CD tray. All nighters

5 out of 5 eggsGood OS

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: A solid OS.
It's not Windows 8.

Cons: My only gripe with Windows is not being able to transfer your User folders to another drive/partition without going through some major hoops. With the prevalence of SSDs you'd think they'd do something about this.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Easy to install and easy to use. Best suited for mouse and keyboard as well as gamers.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Ill admit I hate windows 8, but it does have its place on touch devices. If your more of a mouse and keyboard kind of person or primarily game, windows 7 is the best choice.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat OS

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Fantastic OS. Easy to use and enjoy. A worthy grandchild to XP.

Plenty of features to tweak if you are into that and if you're not, you can more or less fire and forget and let the myriad options take care of themselves.

Plays nice with games and programs, even my old ones going as far back as Neverwinter Nights 1.

Cons: It's not bacon.

Other Thoughts: After using the legendary WinXP for ages I decided to upgrade to a 64bit build for the new rig. Ordered Vista and discovered the nightmare that steaming pile was.

Moving on from that as soon as Win7 was released thanks to the free upgrade deal I found the true successor to XP. I've got Win7 from this version to Ultimate on four home computers. Everyone is happy and it's intuitive enough that my children figured it out fast.

Great OS, even better than my bias towards XP. Gonna run it till the wheels fall off and hopefully completely miss Win8.

5 out of 5 eggsNot win8

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Computer OS. (not a tablet/phone OS)
Still supported by Microsoft. (no nag window about being unsupported)
Not Vista. Not Win8.

Seriously, if you're using a mouse and keyboard, use this instead of win8. If you're running a tablet, or have some sort of touch screen display... then 8 might be the better choice.

Cons: Slight differences from XP all over the place. I've been using XP for over a decade, so sometimes I have to search a little to get to the settings screen I'm looking for. Then once you get to them, sometimes it looks like the EXACT same settings program they had used in XP (like when choosing a screen saver.) which just seems out of place.

Other Thoughts: Old components were giving BSOD. Narrowed it down to CPU, MB, or RAM... so replaced all 3, along with HD and OS. (XP kept nagging me about it being unsupported.)
No more BSOD, and even simple tasks like browsing the internet are insanely smooth now.

5 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 rocks!

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: This OS works like it should. Rock solid.

Cons: It doesn't install itself.

Other Thoughts: Just did my 15th pc build with Windows 7. Customer wasn't interested in having to use a touch screen, and didn't want to fumble around looking for things in hard to find places. (...cough, cough...Windows 8....cough, cough ) If you're considering a new build or just upgrading your OS from XP or Vista, get this now.
