4 out of 5 eggsClosest thing to XP

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit

Pros: Let's be honest here, the only reason this OS is somewhat tolerable is because it's the closest to XP since XP SP3. Vista was a joke, Windows 8 should be explicitly for tablets, and let's hope Microtrash doesn't give us all the finger with an xp/8 mix that'll be a bunch of bloatware garbage bull with 10. If it wasn't such a PITA to get a plethora of games to run on Linux based OS's, I would have switched years and years ago.
4 Eggs because it's the closest to an upgraded XP one is likely to get, I used HP7 64-bit 18 hours/day for months on end playing various games such as EQ, WoW, EQ2, D2LoD, Aion, Rift, everything I could think of since I was bored of consoles and had a beefier entertainment HP. Unfortunately, HP builds their laptops to die (the HDD breather hole is covered inside the case, can't flip it around unless you want your HDD flopping around freely which I ended up doing eventually) so the only issues I had with Win7 was because of Hewlett-Packard. Do not buy HP products. They're cheap garbage. And Yogi support tried screwing me out of $300 to do a chkdsk and send me a new HDD after the warranty was up.

Cons: It's not XP

Other Thoughts: Nobody that does anything worthwhile uses a Mac, at least if they're serious about it.

5 out of 5 eggsBest OS Since XP

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit

Pros: Nice graphical user interface.
Runs well, very few problems.
Hey, I can reinstall windows with this in case something happens.
Easy Installation.

Cons: More expensive then what I would like.
Lots of restarts after installing.
Restarts take awhile.

Other Thoughts: I have used windows 7 for the past 4 years, I really like it. It's the best OS since Windows XP.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than Windows 8.1

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit

Pros: It's an operating system, it does what it is supposed to do.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have gotten used to 8.1 enough to do what I need on other computers. I just like Windows 7 much better. Looking forward to trying Windows 10!

4 out of 5 eggsNew is not always better.

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit

Pros: As an average gamer and web user, this is the only OS I can depend on since XP is gone. IT DOES ITS' JOB and I DONT NEED FANCY FEATURES, I NEED AN OS TO RUN PROGRAMS. I want my desktop simple and clean unlike Win8. I have been using Win7 since 2010, and it has all I need.

Cons: Expensive still. I need to wait until E-mail promo codes comes around. $20.00 can be used for something else. Thanks newegg.

Other Thoughts: I was thinking of using a copied one downloaded over the internet to save money, but the right thing to do is buy a genuine copy.

5 out of 5 eggsIn the mean time

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit

Pros: Cost. Caught a good deal here.
Simple. It's about as close as you can get to XP right now. I got home premium because after owning pro versions in the past I realize that I don't take advantage of most of those features.

**Free upgrade to Windows 10, I'll wait a little while on that to let them work out the kinks.

Cons: Updates: This OS has been out for awhile so be prepared for lots of updates, reboots and shutdowns. I think the first day I had 179 or so, and more in the days after. This is to be expected with any software that has been around for a bit.

Other Thoughts: System this is on:
i7 4790k
Gigabyte Z97X-GAMING 7
ASUS STRIX GTX 970
8GB (2x4) G.Skill Ripjaw X DDR3 2400
Crucial MX100 256GB SSD (OS)
Seagate 1TB HDD (Storage)
EVGA NEX750G 750W PSU
Intel TS13X liquid CPU cooler
Rosewill Stealth ATX Mid case
