This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Works without issues.

Cons: After getting used to Win8.1, this feels like a MAJOR step backwards.

5 out of 5 eggswin 7 home prem 64 bit sp1

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: It's a very solid os. I did not have anything against Win 8
This is familar, and old people like me like that.

Cons: no cons, this system is like my old tractor, it just keeps
starting up and doing what u ask it to.

3 out of 5 eggsW7 OEM

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: None.

Cons: OEM version, not sure how install will go.

Other Thoughts: For business use. We are not going the Windows 8 route. Bought these as standbys to install in new PCs, if needed. They are OEM versions and I have not installed them yet. Exactly as advertized, shipped fast.

5 out of 5 eggsAdvisement !

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Just wanted to let people know that the new chipsets like H or Z97 will require windows 7 or later due to no drivers for Vista. If you have Vista and are planning to upgrade your system with this chipset, then you will need to purchase at least Windows 7. FYI.

Cons: none. Use at work and home. Great OS !

Other Thoughts: Wish I would of got this OS much, much sooner.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat price on sale

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Very easy to use and worked as intended

Cons: Had trouble with the install saying it was not a generic copy. Called Microsoft and they were able to take care of it right away.

Other Thoughts: If installing windows you might want to do it on the weekdays during newegg business hours to get product service for any problems

5 out of 5 eggsOne of Microsoft's Best

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Resource Monitor made it easier for IT to monitor system attributes.
Clean Aero interface that wasn't an eyesore to look at.
Shake and snap makes it very easy to turn any widescreen monitor into a dual screen.
Supported with 6 years worth of updates and still counting.
Reformatting is much easier with windows updates finding drivers. Barely had to download them myself, although it is recommended to get them from manufacturer's website.
Layered IE8 makes it easy to alternate between sites when minimized.
Still has Start button (teaser comment)
Windows media center provided a nice free EPG before Hulu and Netflix became standards and cut-the-cable became a thing.
Easy to use for layer 8 users.

Cons: Aero interface is bulky and requires a lot of system resources.
Doesn't run too good on OEM hardware pre-2007/2008.
Much better virus track record than XP, but still get the occasional fake Windows messages and hard drive hijacks. Granted any OS with high market share will be a target, but still a nuisance when your uncle calls you at 3AM because "windows wants $400 dollars to "repair" my hard disk"".

Other Thoughts: Since day one, I knew that I had to replace my XP installs with Windows 7 and gradually did. I am still a Linux fanboy, but there are still a ton of things that Windows can do over linux and Mac. If I had to choose (until 10 comes out later this year), Windows 7 would be my OS of choice on any home.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's Windows 7

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Microsoft, UEFI install-able, Legacy install-able. Boot-able CD

Cons: Microsoft, Requires DVD drive, small product key font.

Other Thoughts: Good OS and worth the time to upgrade from Windows XP, especially if your system is a 64 bit OS. Supports touch screen interface. UEFI bios. Good to have for downgrading Windows 8 systems.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat price on sale

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Pros: Great price on sale. Bought 2 copies for daughters' new computer builds as they are not ready to switch to Windows 8. Had them install it themselves (ages 11 and 13) and they did so flawlessly. I think that was the first time I had ever witnessed a Windows install without some hiccup!

Cons: Should be on sale more often as $99 seems a little high for almost out of date OS but not worth taking an egg off.
