Cons: It prevented some Windows updates from installing and at least two other programs from installing, as soon as I uninstalled it I was able to install my other programs just fine.

Rating: 5/5Its a virus scanner
Pros: A cd came in a box with the key. I haven't bothered installing it, but McAfee previously has worked fine. I assume this one would as well. It was free with my mainboard so..meh. It'll make an excellent case once I take out the McAfee inserts. The CD will make for a great coaster as well since you can download the full version from their site and use the provided install key.
Cons: I hate virus scanners, they suck too much memory, this one is no different. Get something lightweight like microsoft essentials. Its free if you have a legit copy of windows, and its light weight.
Other Thoughts: Virus scanners are a dime a dozen. They don't protect you from downloading files or installing programs that are infected. They will block or warn you from most trojans and spyware/malware stuff if you scan it regularly (which sucks even more processor power), but if you click "yes" on the install, these programs won't stop them. So know what you're clicking on, and before you install anything be sure you know the source. That's where you really stop your viruses. These programs do not block dumb users from clicking obvious virus links in emails or facebook hackers from stealing your accounts. They merely slow down their ability to do so without you knowing about it. If you do not practice safe internet browsing you will become victims of internet hacking and identity theft no matter what virus program you have installed on your computer. Find a program that does the same things as these that are free (such as windows essentials) and use them to block those things. Stay away from questionable websites as they frequently will have pop-ups (that you can block using chrome or firefox, no need for a virus scanner to do that) that will forcibly install programs without you knowing about it. Avoid questionable websites or emails that say "you win xxxx really expensive item if you click here" because you don't win squat without signing up for it first, and if you did actually win something they'd mail it to you anyway in the physical mail because you would have given them your physical address. They never notify you via email. These programs won't block you from clicking those links, your ISP or mail server provider will block those for you by marking them as "junk" mail and 99.9% of email programs these days put those in the junk box for you automatically, and once there it automatically disables internal links on the email. If you're dumb enough to enable those links, then this virus program won't stop you from clicking them either. The simplest and cheapest solution is to use this program to block the obvious stuff. 99.9% of the stuff out there, isn't obvious so you really don't NEED these programs. You gotta use that thing on your shoulders between your ears to know if its too good to be true, it probably is.

Rating: 1/5How security works
Pros: Makes you feel safer.
Cons: Doesn't actually protect you. Slows down your computer. Nags you.
Other Thoughts: A general rule of thumb with any security mechanism: If they truly want to break your security mechanism, they probably will.

Rating: 1/5what?
Pros: none
Cons: I didn't ask for it, and apparently you can't even remove it from your shipping list if it's a free item included in a deal.
Other Thoughts: I guess they need to get rid of their inventory somehow.
