Pros: Overall it work rather well and doesn't seem to hog system resources or slow down my computer.
Cons: Finds a few files as viruses that are actually part of my software. Then it doesn't allow you the option of telling the anti-virus to ignore that file. At least if it does I haven't found it. SO every day I start my computer to find a software program that won't run because McAfee anti-virus has removed a file (McAfee says it removed a threat)
Even AVG free when it finds what it thinks is a threat pops up a window and allows you to choose how to deal with the threat, remove it, quarantine it, or ignore it. This version of McAfee does not offer you that option. I had to uninstall McAfee anti-virus, and reinstall my software program in order to resolve that issue. Back to AVG for me.
Other Thoughts: Seems to be a good anti-virus program and may well work for most people. It doesn't slow down your computer the way Norton does, and doesn't use many resources. But it really needs to allow you to tell it how to deal with found threats. It doesn't, and that makes it worthless for me.
It came free when I ordered Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. So I gave it a try. I would have kept using it (even though I'd have to pay again every year) because it didn't slow my computer down any. But it removes files it thinks are threats if they are or not and no way to stop it from doing that, that I have found. Granted I did spend a month trying to sort it out, but I did try several things over a weeks period of time. Nada, so out it goes.
