McAfee Total Protection 2013 - 3 PCs

Pros: Got my rebate of $65 so this was Free anyway
Works good i like firewall
Virus scan sometimes unable to remove viruses

Cons: can slow down pc a bit, very tiny bit

Pros: None - haven't been able to use.......

Cons: Product takes approximately 30 minutes to load from CD/INTERNET and then CANNOT BE ACTIVATED. Response from McAfee is "automated" and tells you they are having problems with their activation process. Then NOTHING....! Contacting their so-called customer service is next to IMPOSSIBLE. After multiple uninstall/install - problem still exists. Then "automated" email from McAfee informs me that it could take a COUPLE OF WEEKS before they will respond...!!
I'm not the only one experiencing this issue, check the internet. My system is a DELL XPS desktop running XP....

Other Thoughts: Checkout BITDEFENDER - better protection and lower price......!

Pros: Easy install process using included disk

Cons: Good and reliable product using for all my 3 computers have no problem with any.

Pros: none

Cons: worst antiVirus i had yet, only problems first with instalation now with subscribtion. That was first and last time i bought it ...

Pros: Rebate processed reasonably quick.
FAR... at least it should be.
Product is good for those who really need it.

Cons: Rebate was initially "invalid".
Borderline rebate scam.
Software is too bloated for high level users.

Other Thoughts: I made sure to include everything in the rebate process so you can imagine my frustration when I got an "invalid" status for a Free After Rebate. Here's a little excerpt from a chat I had with the rep:

7:32:26 AM : Margaret: you sent in the original upc label?

7:32:31 AM : Me: yes i cut it out of the box

7:32:36 AM : Margaret: did you make a copy?

7:32:46 AM : Me: I didn't realize you needed to make a copy

7:33:01 AM : Me: I never had an issue just sending out rebates

7:34:02 AM : Margaret: Well I don't know what happened to it, but we didn't get it. We only got your rebate form and receipt information. We need to verify that the correct product with the valid upc was purchased to be able to verify this rebate

*****Make sure you make a copy of EVERYTHING you send out to McAfee******

Do not give them any excuse to deny your rebate!!!

Only after offering to provide my serial key and posting this chat online for everyone to see did they finally resolve this issue.

After processing five other rebates with other products without a hitch in the same day, of course the one with the biggest rebate would be "invalid".

Be EXTREMELY careful when dealing with rebates for McAfee.

Check your status when you get the rebate confirmation.

Make copies of everything you send in.

As I haven't had a single issue with any of several rebates sent in, I can only assume McAfee is attempting to pocket cash from people who don't check on the rebates.

Pros: Pretty easy install
Clear and concise UI

Cons: Slowed my computer down. (-1 egg)
Waiting on McAfee to process my rebate. (-1 egg)

Pros: Easy install, isn't showing a persistent pop-up when there's something suspicious on the computer, simple to use. I installed this for my parents too and they're not calling me every time they see something pop up.

Cons: I hate having to make a log-in or account with mcafee, there's some "vault" program that was bundled with it but don't see much of a perk or value to it, I usually encrypt my important files to an encrypted usb.

Other Thoughts: I think it does what you paid for it to do, no complaints here. (But honestly, I got this as part of a bundle for buying Win 7 OEM, seems like a fair price at $40.)

Pros: Better than freeware - but, as with all antivirus, slows down the computer somewhat.

Cons: As far as rebates and McAfee, they are on the slower side of getting them out to the consumer. However, I did eventually get it (Purchased in 2012 with rebate making total cost 0USD).

Pros: Good product

Cons: Bad rebate program

Other Thoughts: I dropped McAfee for good years ago when they refused to honor their rebate. I made sure to cross all the T's and dot all the I's, but after numerous calls and emails I NEVER did get my rebate. So I said goodbye to McAfee and never looked back.
