3 out of 5 eggsWorth free, not $$$$$

Pros: The interface is easy to understand and doesn't bother you with annoying popups. It is not as resource intensive as other reviews suggest. If you have 8GB or more of RAM and a CPU with 4 or more threads you should not notice much of your resources being bogged down. However..... (read below)

Cons: ..... the product is not worth the retail price. You're essentially getting unlimited PCs and Mac security for the retail price per year. I'll let that up to you to decide if it's worth it. I wouldn't trust the Android/iOS device protection as there is no way for an "app" to be able to monitor the "behind the scenes" workings of either mobile operating system. Don't be fooled by the clever marketing of some wonky mobile protection offered.

Other Thoughts: All in all, if you have more than 3 Mac/PC in your household I would say that this is a worthwhile investment. Don't expect to get great things out of the mobile security.

1 out of 5 eggsJust say no.

Pros: None

Cons: Avoid mcafee and norton products like the plague. They are resource hogs, buggy, cause instability, are gimmicky and don't work properly if at all. This has been the case for the last 15 years.

1 out of 5 eggsMade my freshly built computer slower.

Pros: I got it free with Windows 8.1 purchase.

Cons: Computer was slower at startup by around 3-4 seconds.
Shouldn't be as hard to uninstall as it was.

Other Thoughts: I never like McAfee because they bog computers down but it was free so I thought I would try.

Not worth it to me.

1 out of 5 eggssubscribable bloatware

Pros: none

Cons: what a waste of plastic, paper and package printing.

Other Thoughts: it was free and I still threw it in the garbage, If I get a virus I cant get rid of its probably time for a fresh install of windows anyway. The only reason Im writing this review is because Newegg gave me no option to remove it from my cart, so id have to be the one to throw it away.

1 out of 5 eggsNot much to say

Pros: These have been arriving for free with some of our orders.

Cons: I can't find anyone to give them to so we just throw them away.

Other Thoughts: Not worth the 79.99 that McAfee is asking.

5 out of 5 eggsMcAfee Live Safe

Pros: Was able to get at well discounted rate. Similar vendor use in enterprise industry environment. Efficient and effective.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Stream lined not a lot of bloat ware that is of no use to the end user that consumes resources that is not necessary.

2 out of 5 eggsOnly worth it with a sale

Pros: This is only worth the price if it is on sale. I got it for $18 and it came with a lifetime of malwarebyte which is the real reason I bought it. So +1 egg for malwarebytes

Cons: Its an antivirus where they include a free virus removal program. If thats not a red flag then you need to look harder. If you are familiar with computers though its a very good buy if you can get it cheap. I dont mind the occasional virus removal so that wont be a big deal for me, but to most it isnt something you want to do with an antivirus.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: Unlimited installs on any platform including phones/tablets. I got it on sale for a cheap price

Even though windows took longer to load it didn't seem to slow my computer down.

Cons: This is a horrible program. Once I installed it I began having internet issues. Some websites wouldn't work, some of my browsers didn't work correctly, especially if it was a multiple profile browser. I had to go in manually and change settings and open ports to get it to work some. It missed several malware programs which ended up being a nightmare to remove and I still have problems with. Couldn't get it to install on my Galaxy S3. It was one problem after another. I've never had this many problems and poor performance out of any other A/V

Other Thoughts: Many many years ago I liked McAfee but then started having issues. So I figured for 13 dollars I would give them a try again. Big mistake. It caused me nothing but problems. Back to free programs and for those wanting a whole suite I would NOT choose McAfee.

1 out of 5 eggsCrapware on a CD

Pros: none

Cons: This is the same subscription crapware that comes on systems and is installed when you are not careful with java or flash updates. Since the introduction of MS Security Essentials there is no good reason for this to exist. The only reason I have it is that it was bundled with a laptop.

Other Thoughts: I suspect McAfee pays to get this bundled, just like they pay to have it installed on systems and come with java and flash.
