3 out of 5 eggsSmooth install, GUI is slow.

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Pros: newest windows.

Cons: GUI seems slower then win 7 systems
Security issues opening up access to your friends unless you manually disable it...
"Tablet feel" not fluid as win 7 even on faster systems.

Other Thoughts: meh. Sadly, average for windows. they could do better... maybe win 11 will be better?

4 out of 5 eggsEveryting I ever dreamed.

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Pros: -Had the technical preview and fell in love with it.
- Decent pricing for a great OS

Cons: - This isn't the fault of Win10 but my keyboard driver does not have one for Windows 10 so the led's under each key do not work like they did with Windows 7.
- I paid for three day shipping and didn't get it till a week later. I normally don't pay for express shipping but i guess just moved through the payment screen to fast and skipped over it but this really urkes me since it's the second time in two months i've payed for express shipping on something and gotten it DAYS after the scheduled arrive time.

Other Thoughts: This OS is exactly how everyone says it is. Love it!

5 out of 5 eggsLifesaver

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Pros: No More Upgrades, just a plain straight forward install.

Cons: None, pkg. arrived faster than a speeding bullet.

Other Thoughts: Lost HDD and had to get another, went for the straight install as opposed to older Win. and upgrading. Went looking for the download key only to find that my order came with a brand NEW CD. Sweet. Thanks, Newegg. I am not a rocket sci. but this made my life so much easier, as I am having to do this out of my truck. And taking the laptop apart to install the HDD w/o losing anything was taxing enough.

1 out of 5 eggsWhy do you hurt me Microsoft?

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Pros: -I can use my computer, if they let me...

Cons: -I had to buy a new copy of Windows because when I upgraded my system I installed a new mainboard. Windows electronically prints your product key to your mainboard ensuring it can't be used elsewhere. So even though my old rig is never being used (you know, because it's old) I had to purchase an entirely new copy of Windows.
-They've locked all the new features into this copy of Windows. Want DX12? You need to upgrade.
-Cortana is useless and annoying for power users
-Changing default browsers is annoying.
-What privacy? I know your watching. I'm sure you can't completely turn off their spyware

4 out of 5 eggsFree install was a B%$#H

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Pros: once I got a clean install works great on my IMac partition

Cons: Many issues with free download/install from Microsoft. Several install/uninstalls. Once successfully installed works like a charm

Other Thoughts: If you get the free download from the Microsoft site, plan on a couple uninstalls/re-installs. I went through 4 but now am running fine. Slow load times are probably in the install. I experienced the same issue and others. Just uninstall and go for it again. It'll eventually work out. I know, this should not occur, but, there you are. Deal.

5 out of 5 eggsMicrosoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OEM

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Pros: I created a bootable USB 3.0 drive and copied Windows 10 to the drive. I then booted and installed the operating system on to my newly built PC. The installation was flawless, fast and everything was recognized correctly. Windows 10 is much better then Windows 8

Cons: None currently

1 out of 5 eggsWindows 10 - About the Same as Windows 8 A bit worse....

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Pros: None really. Perhaps one could argue it is stable, if you can get it to install. It seems to boot fast on my SSDs, about 5 seconds or so faster than windows 7.

Cons: - 4 of 5 install attempts have had problems
- UI is ugly, I mean UGLY. So much so for some people such as myself, it is unusable. The flat, drab colors makes visual cues harder to pick upon. I am constantly clicking off window when I thought i was clicking on window.
- HUGE CON-- This is a privacy violator big time, MS gathers personal info at every turn. Turning it off is buried and hidden in non-descript ways. It is truly a CON game for the uniformed.
- Metro apps look like they were designed by a 3 year old, 1/2 of them don't work correctly or look weird on either a desktop or tablet. Ironically, Windows 8 was a better OS than Windows 10 for a tablet experience. MS biggest mistake was trying to transcend the table/desktop into one experience. The result is a kluged hunk of garbage.

Other Thoughts: There is just no place to begin, this product is absurd garbage. There are really two aspects of an OS that I care about. The kernel, i.e. how well it handles the computer resources, runs software, etc etc. Then there is the UI. For the under the hood aspects, Win 10 gets 3/5 stars. It is stable for the most part, in one test I had enormous issues getting video drivers to install (they never did, just scrapped the build), in another it was the network drivers (worthless). On the user interface front it scores a 0 of 5 in my opinion, non-intuitive, settings are watered down and not customizable, I cannot change system font or fix the drab coloring or flat interface, just UGLY and unusable on every level. Luckily there Stardock which makes skinning software the fixes many, maybe even most of the UI drawbacks. it takes several hours to a day to get it all installed and correctly configured but you can make it look 'ok'. I have upgraded one computer to win 10 (it started as win 8), and I have tried to use it as much as possible, thinking it will get better or that I will get use to it... after 5 months, I still fight back the vomit when I try to use windows 10 without the UI fixes in place. Oddly people think that bringing back the 'start' button somehow fixes the win 8 mistake... NOT. Ohhh, here is a good one, if you are a builder like me who upgrades and builds new systems and retires the old ones, your 'upgraded for free' windows 10 install cannot be re-used, even if you originally purchased that right when you bought the retail versions of Win8 or Win7. TOTAL RIP OFF. MS should be sued for this privacy invading pile of garbage.
