3 out of 5 eggsDecent Software Paired with Useless Sounds

Pros: Pretty easy to dive into. Even if you've never done any sort of music arranging, this software makes it relatively easy for you. You can basically drag and drop sounds onto the arranger and play them back instantly if you are looking for a few things that go together.

Cons: The sounds that are boxed with this software are mostly useless. You'd figure you'd would get at least a few very basic sounds like a single kick drum hit or a snare drum, but no. You can create them, but the process can be annoyingly long. I found maybe 10 sounds that are worth using. The rest are junk. To get your bonus 2000 sounds (also mostly useless), you have to dig around for something called the Catooh button which is not put in a location you would normally look for a button. (Bottom right, but you have to be on a specific screen for it to show up) Once I was finally able to locate it, you have to register with the Catooh website which in itself is annoying. I actually had to register 3 times before it even recognized that I had signed up and even after that, it wouldn't accept my password so I had to reset it. After about 45 minutes messing with that, I was finally able to get the sounds package. It auto installs, but several of the sounds give back errors. I followed the directions exactly as they stated I should do it, but still at least half of the sounds from the pack never work, even after a reinstall. They keep sending me back a "VT Error."

Other Thoughts: The software is easy enough to use, even for a beginner. It can seem like too much, but just keep playing with it and you will start picking it up. The sounds, as I stated, could use an overhaul. So few of them are worthy to be used in a song. You will find a few things here and there, but even as you build your arrangement, you will find that most of the sounds just don't mesh well. In a way, you can see why the software is inexpensive (they make all their money off licencing you the sounds). All the half decent / usable sounds are the ones they try to sell you off the Catooh site and even then, you have to pay a pretty hefty premium if you want the right to redistribute any of them (AKA using them in a song you may want to release). I've found that I am just creating most of my own sounds myself seeing as how I don't wanna fork over any money for mediocre samples. To do that, you need an audio input for your computer (at least in my case) and I was able to find an alright one for about $110. If you are just buying it for fun, then you should be alright with what you get in the pack. If you want to try something more like me, you won't be too jazzed with what you find yourself having to do.

5 out of 5 eggskids love it,

Pros: I am somewhat low on programs of this type but very high on pc's networks and my 13 year old loves to sing and stuff so I bought it at the great price,

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: My daughter opened it started creating songs, music almost immediately and gave me a hug!!! she is just loving it and when I loaded it for me I was quickly pushed out of the way so this rating is based on her as I realize I will never get my hands on it/sigh and that says a lot.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat music even if you don't play an instrument

Pros: This program is fun. Professional musician? Excellent; make yourself a demo! Can't carry a note and don't know a major chord from a coffee maker? Excellent; create a dance mix and impress everyone at your next party

Cons: Very intimidating when you first open up the program; just cowboy up and start clicking. Also, the download version requires you to download the extras and install them. Use the help menu to get "free extras". This is where the sound pools, synths, demos, etc are. Easy to miss this.

Other Thoughts: -Goya burnR is a free CD/DVD burner program that is included
-Easy to install new sound pools as you get them
-Ability to import a movie and put music to it
-PC must be as powerful as you can afford. Get 3 Gigs of RAM and a graphics adapter (1 GM RAM version). Many people have problems with audio/video processing software simply because their PCs are resource starved.

5 out of 5 eggsFor Filmmaker's Too!

Pros: > Product functions as advertised.
> Clean, intuitive interface.
> Almost no learning curve - Get the project done.
> Powerful audio tools easily accessible.
> MIDI, VST/DirectX plug-ins.
> Audio effects and synths built-in.
> Video incorporation
> Export to popular social media / audio sites
> Program technology constantly improved over the years
> Magix's website has a popular 'forum' to solve problems and share ideas with other users.

Cons: None - Meets expectations for my uses.

Other Thoughts: I am a digital filmmaker not a musician; but music is a major component in my films, so I use Magix’s MusicMaker to arrange music tracks provided by musician collaborators, adjust volume, EQ and adjust the stereo depth of the arrangement. Then I mix-down the music by exporting as a single .WAV file for use in my digital film project. If one prefers, a video file can be added to the arrangement so you can build a musical soundtrack that matches the video action.

I also use the program for sound design - so you don’t have to be a musician to do cool things with MusicMaker MX. That shows the range of utility for this software.

Magix has professional versions of its audio software line and incorporates these ‘pro’ features and technology into the consumer versions of their software like MusicMaker MX. So buy with confidence if this product fits your needs.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: ). I have a video in my mind to go along with a song that I wrote. I downloaded the trial version and was overwhelmed at all the ‘stuff’ in this program! Being a guy, I saved the manual for last and dove right into the program. I wanted to see what I could do and just starting dragging and dropping images into the workspace. I then added a title from the templates and hit the play button. That was cool; I then added an audio track by dragging and dropping a wav file onto the workspace. Wow! This is very powerful! A little over kill for just a slide show I thought. I started to franticly look for video files on my hard drive; pressed ctrl + n to create a new file. I dragged a small avi file taken from my digital camera and just started playing. Before I new it, a couple of hours had gone by and it was time to sleep. I had to go to work in the morning.

While at work, I thought of all the ‘neat’ things I could do; titles, special effects, overlapping…I came home from work an

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: About me: I am a middle aged former software developer (20 years) and currently work in the quality control department of a major biotech software company. I started using Magix products in 2004 when I was looking for software to transfer my record albums to my computer. I was so impressed at the quality, that I tried some of their multimedia products. I have been a steady customer since. Please read my reviews of Movie Edit and Music Maker.

5 out of 5 eggsMagix MX

Pros: Magix MX is a really good music making program. I've been a fan of the products since version 5. I'm always surprised with the things you can do with their programs and MX is no different. I love the fact that from program version to version, most if not all of the components are in the same place, this takes away a lot of the need for a learning curve. I also love the fact that you can integrate audio and video from other programs into the same program. There is a lot of help both embedded in the program as well as an on line community for those who have questions. But if you are a weekend or a professional musician or even recording engineer Magix opens a world of possibilities. And speaking of recording engineering, all of the Magix programs have come with a wide range of on board recording suites from sound enhancment to filtering and other great editing tools. One real plus with this version is the ability to upload your work to social networks like Facebook, Youtube and others.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Love Magix products
