3 out of 5 eggsits alright

Pros: cheap anti virus with the rebate anyways

Cons: kind of a weird setup process you have to install it like twice or something

Other Thoughts: they did not give me my 20$ mail in rebate which kinda annoys me. apparently I mailed in the wrong upc -shrug-

4 out of 5 eggsCompany Purchase

Pros: Business with 10-40 computers, this is a perfect antivirus software vs the free ones out there for the price. Actively scans for viruses and spywear. This is great for those that have employees that still go to undesired places or check personal email on company computers.

Cons: -Company use is great, personal use, would use something different.
-You have to do manual configuration or you'll get the stupid tool bar & you can't remove/disable w/o complete uninstall. Subtracting 1 egg for this. Tool Bars should be outlawed!

Other Thoughts: Easy install, definitely would download most recent version from website vs CD/DVD that comes with software. This eliminates a big download and multiple reboots.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst I have ever bought

Pros: It did its job for about a month.

Cons: After getting the free upgrade it offered, about a week later I got 2 trojans in my explorer. I had to get another free anti-virus program to get them off but still had problems and had another trojan in one of my drivers some how.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this, I had to use one of the codes up and reinstall a fresh windows on my PC. Used one of the codes up and waisted one use of the AVG code. List this on a blog to try to get some Ideas how to fix it and others commented on how they had the same problem. Spend a little bit more money and get a good software.

3 out of 5 eggsto N/A

Pros: "web browser plugin framework" "computer science masters"

And your only an IT guy for a small company? I was doing that when I was in high school.

How about you actually try and use/own the current software like some of the people here instead of calling them names.

AVG is a decent but bloated anti virus, adware, firewall solution.

It is a great passive sheild for people that can't be bothered to learn about maintaining their PC.

Cons: IT is very invasive, forces you to default to their search engine, insists you install toolbars multiple times. Decreases SSD lifetime with excessive read writes, attempts to defrag by default. Replaces the microsoft firewall. And also increases your windows loading time by and average of 9.5 seconds, on a system that scores a 7.9 windows index.

Other Thoughts: I actually own and have used this, but I have since switched to the microsoft virus protection. It runs like AVG used to, when you want it to, and doesn't nuke your system with non-essential bloatware. And This is outdated, not just the virus definitions, the whole thing. once you install it, it has you download, uninstall, and reinstall. If you buy it save some time and just download, then enter your keys.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat software

Pros: Don't listen to what these other pinheads are saying. Of course it is outdated. The world of security changes every second. Hackers aren't doing the same thing the next day! I use the free version but have installed the trials of the internet security version and it is best I have used so far. Way better than Norton or McAfee! The web toolbar isn't that bad. Yes, it takes up space but it has to integrate with the web browser. You are better off with it than without it.

Cons: The only thing I would prefer is to hide the toolbar. When you do, it turns off that feature. I imagine thats a constraint on the web browser plugin framework.

Other Thoughts: I have a more valid opinion then the rest of the negative reviews on here for a number of reasons: Software Engineer, Computer Science Masters in Security and manage the IT for my small company.

If you don't want to have to install antivirus, use Linux!

2 out of 5 eggsOutdated

Pros: There is a definte reduction in latency issues.

Cons: First off the version sent is already outdated when you get it. This becomes more confusing as you have to go the support screen and download the newer version right away. Even an average user would be confused. It also trys to install a search bar of its choosing and make it the default browser.

Other Thoughts: It used to be AVG was known for its simplicty, ease of installation and use. Yet another search bar being installed no don't want or need it. Its better than its competitors but only by a hair because it doesnt bog it down with unnecessary processing. It gets two eggs since they should never send outdated software listed as the "New" 2011 VERSION.

4 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is

Pros: For the price, this is a good option for someone looking for this type of software. It does not bogg-down your system zapping resources like other antivirus software.

Cons: While you can install this on 3 machines, the updates are only free for 1 year. The last time I purchased AVG, not only did I get 3-user option but the updates were good for 2 years. There is no indication on the product description as to how long you receive updates. I might have given it a second thought if I knew it only came with 1 year of updates.

Other Thoughts: Only 4 eggs due to the 1 year's worth of updates.

4 out of 5 eggsPC Armor

Pros: Great all around Protection, priced very well.

Cons: More bloated than it used to be, wants you to install "yahoogle toolbar" features to your browser.

Other Thoughts: This is a great product, hopefully they stop trying to ruin it with bloatware. If they add anymore I am going to have to start looking elseware. AVG used to be my favorite due to its low system overhead, hopefully they go back to that in the future relases.

4 out of 5 eggsInstall & Forget

Pros: What a steal for $18 USD. Works as it should. I have used AVG for years, and its worth every penny. Finds the virus and automatically quarantines it for you in a safe location until you decide what to do with it and has the ability to correct the file by removing the virus from it.

Cons: Serial Keys for AVG are average 38-40 Charaters long which is a pain...

Other Thoughts: If your not the fimiliar with Computer antivirus, get AVG. It loves to run by itself and wont make your computer slow when its running a virus scan. (unless your computers ancient)
