Pros: zero.

Cons: Won't install from the CD. All I get is a white screen as if trying to connect to the internet.
Won't install by double clicking the 64. exe file in the Win folder either.
I have AVG on my 4 (four) PC's, but I will not use this product after this.

1 out of 5 eggsAVG Internet Security 2011 - 3 User

Pros: Nothing. I've always held AVG in the highest regards.

Cons: Crashed my Windows 7 64-bit. Never got the software to work. Or better put, never got Windows to work after it was installed. No help with Tech Support. I've been in software development for 12 years, there is just something wrong with this.

1 out of 5 eggsLocked Outlook & Horrible Technical Support

Pros: Low cost & it does what it's supposed to - when it works. Uses little system resources.

Cons: AVG pushed an update in May that rendered my (Outlook) email scanner useless. It locked up both my desktop and notebook. After weeks of terrible customer support, they finally just stopped responding.

Other Thoughts: It's a shame that such a highly tauted product for years has such poor techincal support and customer service. If you check several reputable review sites, you will see that their product is no longer top notch. I have moved to a different software platform that I hope will perform better for me.

Pros: Running Windows 7, 64 bit. Worked well, and for a while it worked.

Cons: AVG pushed out an update file that completely trashed my computer - to the point that it would not boot up at all. I spent many frustrating hours - and finally had to completely install my OS from scratch. They admitted the problem and fixed it the next day...too late for me.

Other Thoughts: Serious screw-up. AVG would not refund my money. I would not touch these guys with a stick - free version or otherwise. Avoid like the plague!

5 out of 5 eggsOnly the best

Pros: I have been a computer field technician for almost 5 years, and not only do I recommend AVG, but all the other techs I know recommend it too. It's the most effective anti-virus software I've ever tested, and once it's setup, you hardly have to think about it.

AVG does an incredible job of staying ahead of the viruses out there with its frequent updates that take place in the background. It can also scan your machine in the background on a schedule, which is great for peace of mind.

I've tested AVG against a number of different antivirus products, and I have yet to find any other product that can detect and neutralize the number of viruses that AVG can. When scanning a hard drive for a customer, for example, Norton and McAfee reported the drive as "clean", but AVG found 7 different trojan horse viruses.

All-in-all, a great product.

Cons: For the basic computer user, there's not a whole lot of difference between the 'Pro' version and the Free version.

Other Thoughts: Unless your using the internet frequently and downloading a lot of things, such as drivers for other computers and the like, AVG Free edition works just as well as the paid 'Pro' version. If you're like me and use your internet a lot and actually download things that you'd like to be protected from in the unlikely event that something is infected, the 'Pro' version is for you.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Absolutely nothing you can't get for free somewhere else.

Cons: If you enjoy using software from a company that installs nearly unremovable software on your computer and deletes important windows files after mistaking them as viruses, AVG is for you.

5 out of 5 eggsBest one out there

Pros: I own 3 anti virus programs.
#1) AVG I.S.
#2) Kaspersky
#3) Avast

I have run each one for 3 months. I can tell you that AVG was my favorite, extremely low resource usage, very easy user interface. Avast cause me problems with my e-mail to many times and i gave up on it. Kaspersky, is a blocks to much, and dramatically slows down the system when opening and closing files. have not had one lick of problems with my AVG at all. Installed on 3 different computers with no issues at all.

Cons: I have none

Other Thoughts: People should not give it a low rating because of install issues, its more than likely something they did wrong, and/or they already have a virus preventing it to install.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't use it on your main PC

Pros: I got a really good deal from Newegg.

Cons: I use this on my Laptop and Netbook with 3 user license. The quality of finding, preventing, and proactive detection is medium/low. What really annoys me is the in your face advertising. When you start a web browser they try to sell you ID theft protection. This message will appear everytime you start the web browser. It's wrong to pay money for more in your face advertising. I can't recommend this product anymore. Free software with no advertising is better then this paid version.

Other Thoughts: It might be good for a netbook or Laptop, but free software would do a better job and no in your face advertising.
