I've personally installed hundreds of copies of mostly AVG free edition and Internet Security. I've never had a computer die because of it, like the previous poster said. The worst I've ever seen is Internet Security 2013's firewall blocked a computer's share drive to the domain. However, that was an odd situation that I've yet to see again. Anyway, the reason why the owner chose AVG is because it's non-intrusive (AVAST and Panda, for example, have a million pop-ups on the free editions). It's easy to convert to the full version. The cost to buy them is low. Plus, they do a good job. Just keep in mind, when you have Internet Security version, you have to train the firewall to allow the good programs and keep blocking the bad ones. Plus, the AVG Toolbar is necessary, along with Safe Search, to keep you safe from visiting known bad sites. Cons: Just like with any anti-virus program and firewall, you have to realize that none of them are perfect. You will get the occasional false-positive and the firewall will block good programs. Of course, you'll get the hang of it once you use it for a few days. Besides, even if you block a good program, you can always change it inside the firewall configuration. Other Thoughts: Another program we like to pair with AVG is Malwarebytes Pro. Together, they do a really good job of complimenting each other and protecting our clients. Naturally, if you're in the Salt Lake City area, feel free to contact A Computer Fix SLC and we can set them both up for you or if you just want AVG Internet Security, then you'll still be very well protected. I had to reinstall from scratch. AVG provided a 'fix' the next day. Thanks a lot. I would not touch AVG with a stick now. Completely removed it from my machine.
