5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: First of all, I have had Bitdefender installed on 4 computers (and their mobile product on 2 android devices).
PCs:
-Windows 7 (x64) i7 desktop
-Windows 7 (x86) Core 2 Duo laptop
-Windows 7 (x86) Core Duo laptop, which was deactivated mid-license and replaced by a Windows 8 (x64) i7 ultrabook

Switching the license from one computer to the other was as simple as logging into the Bitdefender website, selecting the old laptop, and clicking deactivate. Then downloading the software on the new laptop and entering the license key (accessible from the UI on any device by clicking on the number of days remaining at the bottom)

Antivirus detection and removal works great; found some stuff that another popular AV product had missed for who knows how long.

It's rated as one of the best AV products for detection (along with Symantec and Kapersky products) in most of the independent tests I was able to find when deciding whether or not to renew.

It's nice to have the Safe Pay browser automatically pop-up as another line of security for financial websites, especially for some of the members of my family that don't always stick to.... the safest websites.

The UI has been great, and the only problem I've ever had with it is the auto-pilot (which takes care of all of the decisions automatically - nothing to do with updates/active protection) occasionally turned itself off in the 2013 version. This seems to be completely fixed in the newer version though, which is a free upgrade to anyone with a current license.
Unlike many of the other reviewers for the Bitdefender products, I have never had any issues running scans and viewing results for other PCs on my license using the website. (It's obviously not going to work if the computer is not connected to the internet, not signed in in the product, or not turned on! I suspect this is the main issue that those reviewers had even though they claimed level 4 and level 5 tech knowledge)

The product had absolutely no issues installing on any of my computers, even offering to uninstall any previously installed version of Bitdefender or any other AV software first.

The only times I've ever had to contact support were for questions I had about their other products, and I had to be very specific with my questions when they didn't seem to understand what I was asking at first, but this process has never been particularly painful to go through, and I have always had my questions answered. That being said, I have only ever used email support and online chat support, both of which were handled very promptly once we were on the same page.

All of the different scans and utilities run quite quickly on all of my devices - faster than all of the AV software that was on each device before (from several of Bitdefender's top competitors)

Cons: The biggest con, which to be honest, isn't a big deal, was that the original 2013 software would turn off the auto-pilot mode on one of my computers.

I did have an issue with one game on my desktop computer after a major game update, and I suspected the Bitdefender firewall may have contributed, but I found several independent issues that may have been causing the issue (including a conflict between the game client and Windows, and an error with the Adobe Air version that the game client runs). I chose to take the shotgun approach and fix all of the issues at the same time, including resetting all of the firewall rules and manually re-adding the ones that applied to the game (a VERY simple process), and everything worked again. I cannot say for sure that Bitdefender had anything to do with it, especially given the other conflicts on my system, but I never proved that it was not the cause.

Other Thoughts: I am by no means a Bitdefender "fan" and I will continue to shop around for the best AV software every time my license is up for renewal. I have run quite a few different products in the last few years, and even given the OEM software a chance whenever I buy a new device.

I cannot understand how some of these people have claimed to be a "4" or "5" in tech knowledge but cannot figure this product out. Any issues or questions that I have ever had with the product or services from Bitdefender were either available on their forums (support does use the forums, and solutions have been posted by them and by other users), or have been promptly handled by their support (if I even needed to contact them).

Overall, this has been the best AV product I have found so far, and after a lot of research, I am renewing my license for this year (Kapersky would have been my other choice).

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: I researched Anti Virus programs and found this one to be rated as very effective. Another brand had let a virus in so I was upgrading. Bitdefender cleaned up my system and has been running great ever since.
I have upgraded three times, and each time it works well. All I have been looking for is smooth protection, and Bitdefender has provided that.

Cons: Always scans USB drives when plugged in, and CD's when inserted. I know I can turn this off, but I do not want to turn off any protections. These scans do slow down the system a bit, but I would rather know I am safe than to turn off this feature.

Other Thoughts: I have worked in IT departments for almost 20 years. I know computers.
If there is a verifiably better Anti-Virus system out there for a reasonable price, I would change. Until then, I am a Bitdefender user.

1 out of 5 eggsJUNK

Pros: None

Cons: The 2012 version of this suite was highly recommended by AVTest and CNet. It was a "..full featured suite that didn't affect system performance and was very effective in protecting your computer..." Unfortunately I don't think it will make the cut for the 2013 version. I installed this on 2 computers. The first computer I installed it on is running Windows XP Pro 32 bit with Outlook 2007 Dual Core CPU and 4 GB of ram, well within the recommended requirements. After installation the software reverted all my settings to the default XP settings. I had this computer set up for Windows Classic theme with custom sounds. The second computer is identical to the first minus the Outlook software. On this computer the software told me the registration key was already in use. (This key is good for 3 computers) The installation on the second computer also caused it to crash constantly and I was forced to uninstall it. After uninstalling the software the computer was slow and would not connect to the internet. I had to perform a system restore to get things back to normal.
I called support, if you can even call it that, and got no where. They speak poor English, and have no clue what their software even does. I do not recommend this software to anyone.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy!
